Readers are loving Little Drummer Boy!
  • This is no lovely Christmas story, this little drummer boy is demonic and leading zombies! A fabulous story that is compelling, with an awesome duo of private investigators - Hemlock and Morgan. Great read!
  • Hemlock and Burns are minding their own business when said drummer boy and his zombie march pique their interest. The intrepid pair find themselves falling through a magic portal into murder, drugs and vice, as well as a run in with a character who is nice to see so close to Christmas.
I can't wait to read the next Hemlock and Burns adventure.
  • Little Drummer Boy: Hemlock Connal, Preternatural Investigations is a short but entertaining read about what happens when Hemlock and Morgan follow a little drummer boy and his marching zombies to the North Pole. When they meet the big man, will they be considered naughty or nice?

Hemlock and Morgan have the most interesting detective agency ever. You get all kinds of paranormal cases you have to solve. And the trouble these two get in to!! You'll love it!!!

Little Drummer Boy: Hemlock Connal Preternatural Investigations is book two in the humorous dark comedy series by Joel Spriggs. The book is definitely an absurd detective comedy, and the Hemlock-Connal combination is a lot of fun.

Hemlock Connal and her intern Morgan Burns hit the Boston streets again to find the reason behind a murder by a demonic drummer boy and his troupe of zombies. With Hemlock’s portal-making ability, they follow the odd parade around and learn that the North Pole has lots of snow. They also meet Santa and learn he put them on the Naughty List. Yes, demons, zombies, Santa, and his reindeer all made the book.

Book 2 has the same dysfunctional characters, including Alice, and more interesting twists. Heads up--it has more gore than the first one. I wish the story had been longer and the PI duo would have unveiled some new talents, but I recommend it for a quick amusing read.

It’s great to see preternatural detective, Hemlock Conall, and her intern, Morgan Burns, back again. This is a much smaller tale than their first outing, which is a shame, because I’d like to spend more time with them. However, it’s a great story, very imaginative, and dare I say, a little bit scary? Maybe it’s because I have a thing for zombies, but the idea of a drummer keeping a march of zombies under control with the beat of his drum is inspired, and seriously creepy.
Hemlock and Burns are minding their own business when said drummer boy and his zombie march pique their interest. The intrepid pair find themselves falling through a magic portal into murder, drugs and vice, as well as a run in with a character who is nice to see so close to Christmas.
I can’t wait to read the next Hemlock and Burns adventure.

Hemlock Connall is definitely on the naughty list when she follows a bunch of zombies to the North Pole - a strip club.

Morgan fails to register as naughty or nice - newly resurrected as he is.

They are quite a pair. No client in this case, curiosity for Hemlock.

There is a lot of naughty going on at the North Pole.

In this case, curiosity literally kills the cat.

A funny and way macabre holiday story!

This was great. I really liked the zombies. The detectives chasing after them to find out what was happening was a great mystery. A fun story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Une courte histoire intéressante que j'aurais aimé être plus longue !
Reviewed in France on May 26, 2024

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun little side story.

Fun, short little continuation of the world set up in Another Dead Intern. Read it on a metro ride this morning and enjoyed it- even if my love of Santa forced me to dislike certain plot elements present in the story lol

If you liked the first book, check out this short story.
