Lost Spirit: Book Four of The Bound Spirit Series Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 873 ratings

As a Spirit Witch, seventeen-year-old Callie has magical powers that rival gods, but having control over the four elements and life itself won’t help her with her current problem: falling in love with her five supernatural best friends. Tired of stifling her feelings with a heart that refuses to choose, she’s ready to come clean about what she wants and prays to the goddess they all can love her enough to share.

Meanwhile, Felix is realizing that coming back from the dead isn’t all it’s cracked up to be when it requires living someone else’s life, Kaleb is growing distant, Nolan is acting erratic, Connor is hard at work trying to save his mate bond, and Donovan is stuck trying to save them all from themselves. It’ll be a miracle if they make it through the rest of their junior year of high school.

In this heart-wrenching, paranormal reverse harem, join Callie and her guys as they’re forced to face some hard truths about themselves and each other, the consequences of secrets, and if their bonds can survive the tests of love and deception.

A good filler book
3 out of 5 stars
A good filler book
Tis a filler book. This book read a bit like a gap novella. Plot points created in past books were mentioned and maybe furthered but not resolved, sexy times escalated, and we visited our favorite characters (not usually all together, though?)—but nothing really was introduced in the series. Whereas the other three books had an overarching plot they followed—an antagonist or environmentally based hurdle to overcome—this fourth book is entirely relationship-based. There are smaller, personal goals of each (well, most) character(s), but overall the driving force of this book is Callie playing round 'em up. The guys treat her poorly, apologize, and sometimes sexy things happen. I don't think there's enough Callie in this one. The extra POVs in the previous book were never my favorite (because I'm a basic reader who just wants the one POV), but they were helpful in furthering things along when Callie couldn't be the POV—but this book is told 70% in the guys' POV. (That's not an official statistic—I read the paperback, I have no idea the correct percentage). But it seemed like we were jumping over Callie's experiences to focus on others. To not get into any details, an arc of one of the guys reaches it's climax, and Callie's called in to help, and we get this very brief, one-sentence mention that she tackled her fear of baseball bats that night. What? And we didn't get to see ANY of that? It's haunted her for the last three books! That's a PRIME hurt/comfort moment that could've been included easily, especially given the shorter page count in this fourth book compared to the others. Come on, Wills. You know I'm in this for the romance AND the hurt/comfort. Also, Kaleb who? All the characters are great in their own way, but Kaleb's never been in my top picks and even *I* felt kinda bad seeing him in only the one chapter. This is Nolan's book, for sure. Be forewarned in case it's not your jam (I don't find this is a spoiler since it was introduced in earlier books) but there's a LOT more M/M in this book. The explicit kind, too. (And extremely explicit—dirty talk and all—at the end of the book.) If you just thought it was a side thing in the last book, it's now a series main plot point. Do with that what you will. Happy to see Wills writing again, and I love these characters. I'm hoping for a little more out of the next book, but I'm certainly sticking around for the rest of the series.

Originally read the first book in this series in August 2018 but returned March 2024 to absolutely devour books 2-4.How this author managed to continue writing this series given the absolute h3ll they went through over the last 4 years is inconceivable. (See acknowledgments at end of book 4.) The Bound Spirit Series has become one of my favourite of this genre and I cannot wait for book 5. Complex characters, rich in backstory and in detail with humor and emotion carefully woven throughout, Bound Spirit is one of those special series that you just cannot put down. It captivated my imagination and my heart completely which is rare in a slow-burn story for me. So grateful H A Wills kept writing this series, very talented author for sure. Highly recommend!

I found this series in a list of recommendations and was intrigued by the the plot and the fa t that said it would be a 10 book series going from YA to NA. Apparently that was 2019. I waited til now to put my two cents in. Yes it is a slow slow burn. Yet the main characters are in place and you are getting some back story. Trigger warnings are place and should be heeded. Sometimes in a supernatural setting these are over looked due to fantasy fiction. But this story shows that even in fan fic that a character can be affected by by sexual assault, dubious consent and more.
I am way way past the YA and NA age but found this series so far very good. Imagine a good story or academy type novel without gratuitous or drawn out sexual scenes. The world, characters and plot are very good and I would beg the author for more as soon as possible.

I loved this new installment of the bound Spirit series. The relationship progression both romantic and platonic was top tier. The expansion of the supernatural world and bound Spirit lore was fantastic, we learn so much about the world these characters live in in this installation. While this book was an excellent fourth installment there were some notable differences and how time progressed in this book and how much and and how characters interacted with each other. I feel that Wills changed how she wrote some. For instance in this book we are told months of time pass where in previous novels we are shown it and feel it passing. Also the boys spend significantly less time together in a way the reader can experience. Despite these small changes lost spirit was still a phenomenal read that leaves you wanting more. I can't wait to experience more with these characters and hope to see more behind the scenes novellas as well. Five stars!

I’ve been on the edge of my seat waiting on this book since Willis released Save Spirit. I have to say I’m glad she has about another 6 books dedicated to these characters. There are so many unanswered questions and so many things that need go happen I order for Callie and her boys and their families go have a HEA. So I’m glad she isn’t rushing anything.

This book felt like a filler book that had to happen in order for the story to progress. You get little chapters of Felix and what’s going on now that he is alive in James body/life. We get more information about Nolan’s curse. And so much more.

I can’t wait for more books and more of Callie and the boys, though I’m desperate for their HEA and they deserve it, I’m even more excited to read about the journey they’re gonna take to get there.

Round of applause for H.A Willis. You have truly created a world and characters worth dreaming over!

I’m so happy that the relationships are progressing. Although the plot itself wasn’t big, I prefer the author going into their relationships. Especially since it’s RH. Ik it’s gonna be a long series which I usually hate the idea of but since it’s a RH it’ll allow the author develop the characters and their relationships more. I find a lot of RH men forgettable. They just become hot guys without a personality. So I’ve decided to make an exception for RH series and I’ll read them even if they’re long. Well, tbh if I remember the plot. If the an author takes too long I just fall off bc I simply forget.

Ngl Conner really has gotten under my skin. I think it’s just a combination of his character and them being mates. I’m usually bored with the silent type but their connection shows you more of him. I also love the multiple perspectives. I always like to see though Callie but getting a feel for the guys is very much appreciated. I hope to see some jealousy between the guys in the future. I feel like it’s way more realistic than them all happily sharing. Im not saying it should rip them a part but how could you not be jealous. There are ppl who practice polygamy that get jealous.

I also wonder how the author will handle James being bisexual (or gay) and Felix being in his body. Ngl Felix was straight in his old life so idk how I feel about things if Felix suddenly turns bi or gay. It’ll just feel too manufactured or fetish-like. I don’t want him crushing on Nolan (who’s been his best PLATONIC friend forever) just bc he’s not straight anymore. I think it’d be fine if he were bi but only had eyes for Callie. There’s this stupid stereotype that those who are bi can’t be committed.

Im lucky that I got into the series a couple weeks ago bc I did notice the gap of time that the author took. Everyone gets an excuse for 2020 and I read the acknowledgments so I really hope the author is doing well. It seems like she was going through a lot and needed a minute.
