Love Always: A Game of Hearts Novel Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 106 ratings

Fraternization between guests and employees at the Diamond Isle Resort is against the rules.

However, rules mean nothing when it comes to matters of the heart.

Phillip Warrington is smart, sexy, and goal-oriented. He has always had his life planned out. But none of those plans involved falling for a wildly adventurous employee at the resort. She liberates him in ways he never thought possible—with methods that his parents would never approve. But he can control his yearnings, right?

Maggie Fairchild knows the season is almost over. With her plan to take to the seas only months away, she wasn't expecting Phillip, one of those off-limit kinds of boys, to stumble onto her path and steal her heart. Between steamy kisses and late-night moments near the ocean, Maggie finds herself caught in a riptide of passion, one she never anticipated. But who’s ever prepared for meeting the greatest love of your life?

With summer coming to an end, Maggie and Phillip take their relationship to the next level before they have to say goodbye. Can their budding romance be enough to survive the pulling tides of change, or will they drift apart before they even have a chance to explore what could have been?

THIS girl *points at myself* was so insanely lucky to receive an ARC of Love Always, by Candace and Sonya. I’ve known these ladies for years now and I absolutely adore their stories. They always manage to enthrall me with their worlds and keep me coming back for more over and over. Even though they tear out my heart and stomps on it – multiple times.
So when they announced they wrote a book together… Well, it was a given I would read it. And boy, am I glad I did!
Bring forth the tissues my friends, because you will definitely need them before the book is over. Fair warning *smiles*

Maggie is the daughter of a fisherman and she has a free spirit. In a way. Let me explain. She sees the world in a different way than others might. She appreciates the small and big things. Embraces every opportunity she gets tossed her way. She’s like a wild horse – running free. She’s also afraid of letting her heart go. She guards the one thing that is most precious to her and in doing so, she has closed herself of from one of the most beautiful things in this world.
    Love.
It’s not that she isn’t capable of loving, she is. She loves her father, her friends. She loves the work she does with the kids, but she has closed herself off from falling in love. Afraid of being trapped, of being hurt.

Phillip is the son of a wealthy family. His entire life consists of schedules, appointments, lunches, doing things he would rather be free off. Every detail of his life is planned.
    By his mother.
All his life he has done what was expected by him. Doing tennis because his mother proclaimed that was what a proper young man should be learning, wearing the right clothes, buying the right things. Everything to behave like a son of a wealthy businessman should behave.
For Phillip this has been normal, the way it was supposed to be. But one afternoon, he gets enough. Being forced to take a walk with the beautiful but spoiled Sophia is more than he bargained for. She’s the daughter of a friend of the family. Also from a wealthy family, mind you. Phillip’s parents wouldn’t want him to be seen with anyone less than stellar. *rolls eyes*

And in comes Maggie. With her orange hair, her “who gives a s***” attitude and her rollerblades, she rolls right into Phillips life and tears it into tiny pieces. One by one, Phillip begins to realize that life can be so much more than plans, order and expectations.

But it isn’t only Phillip’s life that is changed. Remember I told you about Maggie being closed off from love? Something she chose herself, I might add. Phillip opens that door and forces Maggie to take a good look at her own life, her own decisions.
Three weeks is suddenly way to little time.

As you know I stated earlier that I loved Sonya and Candace’s books separately. Each of them are unique and they have an amazing way to pull me in as a reader and make me go through the whole rollercoaster of angst, horror, gasping, anger, hurt, joy, love and utter surprise. Yes, they have more than once knocked me over with a feather –or quill if you like. There are messages from me to them where I have cursed at them for doing stuff to their characters. Other times I have cried my heart out (particularly The Summer I Fell, but that was also due to stuff happening in my own little world that collided with stuff that happened in that world.), and I have loved every second.
Love Always, is just as good. Just as heart breaking, provocative and filled with love and hope as their individual stories. Except…
In Love Always, they have taken the best from themselves and matched it.
I cried. I cursed. I read 70% of it in one go. I couldn’t go to bed once I was done, because my heart was racing so badly. (No cliffhangers, I might add)
The relationship between Maggie and Phillip is honest. It feels realistic, they leap off the pages and it felt like I knew them before the book was done. I got so caught up in the story that I actually yelled at my kindle when I found out what ******* was up to in the end (sorry, the name had to go LOL – spoilers you know *winks*).
And OMG love letters. That was just a freaking awesome detail and I loved it every time I got to read one of them. It was a peek into their thoughts, their memories and it was beautiful.

Love Always, is a story about love, honesty. The pull between doing what everyone thinks you SHOULD do and what you WANT to do. Expectation, tradition and free will.
Three words to describe this book?
    Expect the unexpected.

Love Always was a very romantic and at times frustrating story that I really enjoyed. I loved how Maggie and Phillip built their relationship in the Hamptons, truly getting to know one another and pushing each other outside of their comfort zones. After leaving the Hamptons they wrote letters which was also sweet and romantic. The plot development was very predictable at times, however, I was still engrossed in this novel. This is an enjoyable read for sweet romance fans and I look forward to reading the other novels in this series!

This book was amazing! I loved everything about it. The characters, the setting, the storyline. It was so well done, I just couldn't put it down.

The book tells the story of Maggie and Philip, two people who come from completely different worlds. They are polar opposites and yet they are the perfect match. Maggie is a fisherman's daughter with a big heart and even bigger dreams. She is a free spirit who lives for fun and adventure. She wants to sail the seas and see all that the world has to offer.
Philip is the son of a business mogul who is expected to follow in his fathers footsteps. He has lived a life by a tightly organised schedule and tries to please his parents but never seems to succeed. He is slowly suffocating under the weight of responsibility his family is piling on him. He has never known true happiness and doesn't even know what he really likes besides what he has been told to like.
All that changes when he meets Maggie. She challenges him to step out of his comfort zone and to take a walk on the wild side. To fight against the chains his parents have imprisoned him in and to finally live his life.
These two had fantastic chemistry. There were so many things standing in their way, from Philip's family to Maggie's free nature. Their relationship didn't take off straight away and I have to say I loved this. This book has to be one of the most realistic summer romances I have ever read about. They had so many obstacles to over come and dreams to realise first. They had to work for their happily ever after.

Loveday and Knoebel have written a moving and captivating book. So emotional and heart wrenching. I cried so many times. This book ripped out my heart. And it has such a great message, especially where Philip's story is concerned. It tells you to fight for what you love, to never live under someones thumb, and to follow your heart. As Maggie says:

"The only power we had over life was how we chose to live it."

In regards to the writing, it was superb, the words just flowed across the page. You will have no trouble getting sucked into this one.

I don't know what else I can say other that READ THIS BOOK!! The perfect summer read, I cannot recommend this enough.

I was super excited to read this book, two of my favorite writers team up!!! Sadly, I was a tad bit underwhelmed by the story. While I loved the idea of the storyline itself, it took some persistent reading to really get into the book. I also felt like the end was rushed and that there were loose ends that werent resolved.... what happened to Ed? I'm hoping that this wasn't a stand alone and that all of my questions will eventually be answered but util then I'll say this was a solid 3.5 stars.

This was a nice change of pace from the onslaught of cookie cutter contemporary romances out there. The characters were unique as well as their relationships with each other. I loved Maggie but Phillip had to grow on me. He was such a spineless fool for so long and I felt he didn't deserve Maggie. I had more love for secondary characters than him for a long while. It was a fun read and I look forward to reading more from this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review: Love Always [Game of Hearts 01] by Sonya Loveday and Candace Knoebel!

    4.5 stars!

Two of my favourite people and authors writing a book together? Yes, please! I was really excited about this book when I first heard about it! I love both these authors books, so I couldn't wait to read one that they wrote together! I signed up for the Blog Tour as soon as I heard about it and started reading my ARC as soon as I received it! This book was cute! Like, seriously cute! I can't think of a better word to describe it lol! I also wasn't 100% sure what to expect from it after I read the synopsis, but it was very beautiful and developed so well! The plot also really surprised me! I wasn't expecting the characters to be so different, but for their relationship to be so beautiful! There were also a few twist and turns in the plot too, and I didn't see some of them coming, especially a big one near the end! I just loved the plot, and the ending to the book was so beautiful and perfect for the characters! The characters were also amazing! Phillip was the main male character, and he was controlled in every aspect of his life by his mother and father! They expected Phillip to act in a certain way because his family had money and their name was known! Phillip was oblivious to this, but he became more rebellious as this book progressed and he realised how much his parents controlled him! I loved Phillip! I loved him even more as he became more confident and in control of his life! He grew a lot in this book and this made me really happy because he deserved to do what he wanted and live his life the way he wanted too! Maggie was the main female character, and I loved her! She was so carefree and cute! She also had a different outlook on life than probably any other character I've read! It was very enlightening because she looked at everything differently! Maggie also didn't think before she did things and she would do anything and everything once lol! She was exactly the kind of person that Phillip needed to show him how to live life and show him what he was missing! Maggie also wanted to get out there and explore the world and see and experience things that were different and out of the ordinary! I loved that about her! I also loved that this book was written from both Phillip and Maggie's point of view! I guess it had to be because of the plot and character divide! It also expanded the plot! I'm assuming that one author wrote Maggie's point of the view and the other wrote Phillip's! I honestly couldn't tell which author wrote which point of view because both flowed so well together! I love when that happens with co-authors! I'm also unsure whether this book is a standalone! I definitely see potential for a prequel book for two secondary characters, but I'm not sure if the authors plan to write one for them! I really hope they do! I love the cover for this book! You see how well it suits the book after you read it! It's so pretty and I can't wait to see it in paperback!

This reminded me of a modern day Romeo and Juliet kind of story. Rich boy wants the poor, wild girl but can't have her due to his parents wishes.

This book was just what I was expecting, a beautifully written, nice and sweet love story.
