Love Bleeds (Thicker Than Water Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 371 ratings

I used to think vampires were the stuff of fiction. Now my brother has a baby with fangs and there's bottles of blood in our fridge, so obviously, I was wrong about that. It's not the only thing I was wrong about, either. I'm a nerd, I'm supposed to be smart, but honestly? I'm starting to realize I can be pretty darn clueless.

For one, I never realized that my best friend was in love with me. Not until after he died in a vampire attack. To protect me.

His death shattered my whole world. Seeing him again is like a miracle.

Even if he has fangs now.

Even if he doesn't remember his own past--or me.

His new name is Crimson, and he's not who he used to be. I know that, really, I do. But I have to believe that I can remind him of all the memories we shared, all the years we spent together, geeking out over our favorite games and TV-shows.

Because when he kisses me, I feel whole again.

I don't get it. I've been straight my entire life.

But maybe that's just one more thing I was wrong about?

I'm totally in love with this series - I'm binge listening because I NEED to know how it will all work out, but at the same time, I don't want it to ever end. It's incredibly suspenseful - even in seemingly peaceful moments, there's always a shoe waiting to drop. It's also very sexy, very sweet, sometimes sad, and periodically actually quite funny.
I really liked Crimson & his deep down decency. I felt for him and for Luke; Crimson with his longing and Luke with his grief and guilt. I enjoyed watching their growing acceptance of their past, present and future.
I experienced the book through the audio version and enjoyed it greatly, much like the first. I don't envy John Solo having to do such a large and continually growing mostly male cast, having to differentiate that many voices. I think he changed Colin's voice slightly in this one from the previous book, but it's understandable. I really liked Crimson's sexy, low growl of a voice, much as I had Talon's smoother dark voice in the previous.
I'm so totally hooked on this series.

It was a good book with well developed characters. The pacing was a little off and some of the characters decisions were a little cliche but I still liked it.

This was a quick read for me. I skimmed A LOT of it, just wanting to read about vampire aspects and the relationship of it. It didn’t grip my attention like most pnr books butI have been craving good vampire mm romances lately.
I enjoyed many parts of this book but wouldn’t rate it higher than 3 stars due to it not gripping my attention enough.

I keep falling more and more in love with this series and I really wish book three was already out! Love Bleeds is the second book in the Thicker Than Water series. I highly suggest reading Love Bites, the first book in the series, before you start this one. Love Bites provides a lot of world building and introduces a lot of important reoccurring characters. Just a heads up, this series contains mpreg (although not explicitly in every book), so if that isn’t something you enjoy this probably isn’t the book for you.

Poor Luke. Not only has his entire world turned upside down with the revelation that vampires are real, but his best friend was murdered while protecting him during a vampire attack. Life is pretty bleak, and Luke is struggling with his survivor’s guilt and grief. While Luke struggles with his sorrow, Crimson struggles with his new life as a vampire. With no memories of his previous life and a master who cruelly controls his every move, Crimson has to figure out how to navigate this harrowing situation. Both men are at the lowest points of their lives until they are finally brought together – and then everything changes.

This book has a solid plot, but it’s the character development and relationships that really drive the story. Luke and Crimson have to learn how to deal with their new normal and come to terms with their current state of affairs. Their relationship is strong, but the romance is definitely a slow, and steady burn that strengthens gradually into a full out blaze. The last part of the book is incredibly thrilling and had me cheering on Luke and his geeky, superpower ways.

I highly recommend this book, and I adored the audiobook production as well. John Solo is an extraordinary narrator who really embodies his characters and brings them to life. I thought his voice choices for each character was perfect and consistent – I had no trouble keeping track of each character while I was listening. Overall this was a wonderful book that left me salivating for book three.

Book two of the four book series builds on well into the series. I loved Luke and Crimson's story. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

This one was super sweet but also a little bit if an edge of your seat read. I never knew whether he would remember or go off the deep end in some way. And the politics... I am excited for this story to continue.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite in the series so far...

This book, second in the series, is my favorite so far. The story is amazing, with an interesting plot that fitted nicely in the rest of this world created by the author. I enjoyed a lot the interactions of Luke and Damian as a couple and how they fought to overcome many obstacles including their own fears, guilt and self-contempt to find love. I can't wait yo read book 3!

3.0 out of 5 stars Getting better
Reviewed in Spain on October 6, 2020
I liked this better than the first book. For starters, the romance is a hundred times better built. It makes sense, since it's a friends to lovers and that means that, unlike during book one, both MCs have known each other since long before. And this helps a lot to the naturalness.

Luke was described as the little one of the family, nerdy, sensible and naive. A good guy whose entire world crumbles when his best friend dies protecting him. How can he recover after something like that? Not only he must accept vampires are real, he also has to discover how being a dhampir will change him and also his brother in law and nephew are vampires, the same creatures that killed Damian.

But Damian is not as dead as they think. Changed against his will, he forgets his human life but can't adapt to his new reality. With a dominant and sicko sire, he feels he doesn't fit in that world, and when he's given the task of killing a guy that seems oddly familiar, things will change forever.

The best part of this series is that it gets better as it goes. Because every book is related and the story keeps going with each book. We get to know more about the magic the brothers own whole the fall in love (of course) and we have the already mentioned prophecy. What will it be about? We can just speculate, and that makes reading the next books more appealing.

Also, they author creates nice supporting characters. The kind of character you want to know more about. Aldrich is my fav so far and it's obvs he will start the last book alongside Remmy. Until that, we will get the change to know more about poor Silas (his story promises to be sad but heartwarming and I so want to read a happy ending for him), and I'm very intrigued by Jared's attitude.

In short, this aren't being my favorite vampires themed books, but are pretty interesting and you can't help but want to know more about these guys... And that's something not every book series make me feel, so that's a very good thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding story!

After his best friend sacrificed himself to save him, Luke wrestles with guilt and sorrow until he meets a vampire known as Crimson. This second book in the Thicker Than Water series is a strong and emotional story with hurt / comfort, MPREG, and memory loss themes. The intriguing story arc follows straight from the first book and kept me engrossed and left me wanting more. The backstory was excellent. 🎧 John Solo does a great job on these books. My only gripe is that he voiced Luke in an immature, sometimes petulant tone - it grates but suited the character.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoying this series

This book takes place a short time after book 1 wrapped up, and we see Luke and his brothers dealing with the aftermath of the events from that book. I enjoyed getting to know Luke better, and seeing his interactions with Crimson. I was intrigued by Vlad and his actions - a sort of ally, but someone with their own agenda. I love that we get the little bonus chapters at the end that show other events happening behind the scenes. It adds to the intrigue and pull to read the next book without being a cliffhanger. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

2.0 out of 5 stars MC super immature
Reviewed in Canada on May 10, 2020
The MC is immature and selfish. Even for a YA novel it’s too much. The first book was slightly better which is why I read this one. I’m not reading the next one.
