A New Author For My List
I have a pretty small circle of M/M romance authors who get my full stars vote nearly 100% of the time. I read many more whom I enjoy, but usually don't bother to review. So...to be able to add a new one to that list and look forward eagerly to their next book (in this series)...well, I'm a happy camper. I will likely turn back to earlier works by Charlie Cochet as well, because for me, her style and ability to draw a lead character, and love interest keeps my fingers turning pages (OK...scrolling down).

    Love in Spades is the first book in Four Kings Security by Charlie Cochet and the gateway into the my addiction of this series. We get introduced to the ex-spevial forces soldiers who now own Four Kings Security and from the start I was hooked and knew I needed more.

    Ace is strong, sexy, protective and dedicated... the traits of a man I love to read about. Colton, at first, comes off as a spoiled party brat, but we soon see that he is much more than that and so does Ace. I love the chemistry between them, they know sweet moments and fun.. but can also heat up my kindle. The supporting characterswete also fun to meet. The story has suspended, drama, .humor, and love. Definitely satisfying and recommended.

    I liked it a lot, but wanted to like it even more. Both MCs in this were really likable, and it was sort of an enemies to lovers situation, but mostly one-sided. One of the MCs had something happen to him which led to losing trust and kind of guarding himself and refusing to lose control of his own life, so while he resented having a bodyguard for a while, he didn’t hate his *actual* bodyguard, the other MC (I love not having to read between, under, over and behind every line to find the motivation for an MCs actions). Their dynamic was really good and they had great chemistry from the start.

    So, why didn’t I love love it? Well, nothing blew up! It took ages before someones life was in peril, and other than an action sequence in the first chapter (which was completely unrelated to the actual ‘case’ in this book), there wasn’t any suspense or action until way late in the book. Now, I am a massive fan of romantic suspense, and the more action, external drama and trauma the better, so maybe don’t use my thoughts as any form of measurement lol, but this would’ve been five stars if only there was a little threat sprinkled here and there throughout the middle of the book. You know, a threatening letter, a weird phone call with heavy breathing on the other end, mysterious dead animals with ominous notes on the doorstep. All that good stuff. I really enjoyed the romance, but I forgot one of the MCs was even supposed to be in danger sometimes. Oh well, I’m still already onto book 2, and I’ve read (and listened) to book 3. This series is highly entertaining and I find Charlie Cochet’s writing really sweet and funny and easy to consume, as it were. Just needed to vent out my why-is-noone-nearly-dying-every-other-chapter heart.

Ace and Colton's story touched my heart and i loved both MC's. I enjoyed that both men were successful and connected with friends and family. Together they were willing to be vulnerable with each other and that just made me gooey and happy.

    I am a huge fan of this author and this book does not disappoint. She is a wonderful storyteller with a gift for writing complex and interesting characters. This book certainly hits all the marks that i look for in a great read!

The premise of the story is interesting and the introduction that we have gotten to each man in the team so far has me looking forward to their story! i love stories about men who are strong and capable and yet able to love.     I knew that I could count on Charlie Cochet: she's a fantastic writer and a masterful creator of comedic and adventurous stories. I loved her THIRDS books with my whole heart and I'm so happy I've decided to start this series too.
    I adored "Love in Spades": it's got the bodyguard/client-secret-affair trope that I absolutely, and shamelessly, love. It's got a snarky characters and found family. It's got romance and comedy and action and I managed to devour it in less than 24 hours.
    I loved both of the MCs, but Ace is truly something special: he reminds me of Dex, with his chaotic, snarky and headache-inducing ways. He's also tough and sensitive and I loved how cute he and Colton were together. I'm also a complete sucker for found family and, as usual, Cochet does not disappoint: this series has found family written all over it from the first line.
    This first book also hints at quite a few interesting developments with the other Kings (yeah, I'd die for Lucky), so I'm starting the second book right away. I'm so very curious to see what will happen.

    Ace is part of King Security. He is kind of the wild card of the bunch. When his company is asked to be bodyguards protecting Colton Connolly, Ace is assigned as his personal bodyguard.

    They get off on the wrong foot and seem to rub each other the wrong way. Colton doesn't think he needs protecting and fights Ace tooth and nail from day one. As they spend more time together, attitudes start to change and they begin to develop feelings for each other. Although it is the worst thing that can happen, and Kings Security would lose their client's trust if they started getting romantically involved with their client.

    Ace, Red, King and Lucky make up Kings Security. They are ex-special ops who had each other's backs in combat and now in the civilian world.

    Ace's book is the first of many, I hope. It was a very good start and I look forward to reading more about the characters.

    This is the first book I have read by this author but it won't be the last, I can't wait to read the second in the series. The book is essentially a love story with a lot of good guys doing what they do best. The Kings are more family than friends and colleagues and there is such love between the characters but the developing relationship between the two main characters is just special. A great book try it for yourself, you won't be disappointed. Well worth 5 stars.

    After her very successful THIRDS-series Charlie Cochet presents us her next project: the story of four former Green Berets, now retired and leading their own company “Four Kings Security”. Four interesting and hot men, four action charged stories and the typical Charlie humor? Yep, count me in!

    We start with the loudest and funniest guy of the four: Anston Sharpe, alias Ace. Because of certain death threats he is tasked with the job of protecting Colton Connolly, the young heir of a very successful company. “Funny” is actually the word which describes the book the best in my opinion because the whole journey from disliking each other to them end up falling completely in love is absolutely hilarious!

    With this book Charlie proves again why she is my favorite author: I LOVE the way she writes her characters! Every single one of them is beautifully written and special in their own way. Every single one of them has good and bad traits so no one is perfect. AND you can actually differ between each of them because they have certain characteristics which makes that character exactly THAT character.

    The concept of the story (bodyguard and his client falling in love) is pretty simple and nothing new, sure, but with those lovable characters as wells as Charlies typical humoristic writing style the whole book doesn’t get boring at any point and is thrilling until the end.
    The more intimate scenes between our two heros are hot, emotional and really sweet and the scenes where everyone is together? They are more like a big happy family: the troublemaker of the family (Ace) who gets into fights with the adorable annoying little brother (Lucky), the one who takes care of everything because everyone loves him (Red) and the one who offers saftey and security because he is the rock of the family (King). I love them :)

    I don’t know how many times I’ve already read the book since release but I stopped counting at some point sooo… I guess it was often enough :D

    Of course 5/5 and if I could give more I totally would!
