Little Feather: A Miranda Riley Paranormal Cozy Mystery (Miranda Riley Cozy Mystery Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
Miranda Riley is a blackjack dealer in Las Vegas when she receives a call from the police that her mother, Eve, is missing. She rushes home to Little Feather, Oklahoma, hoping to quickly find her mother so she can return to her life in the big city.
But once Miranda begins to search for her, she finds there is much more to Little Feather and her mother than she originally thought. First, the city is an oasis for supernatural creatures, and secondly, her mother was the Paranormal Investigator who kept them all in line.
As a P.I., it was her mother's job to make sure the paranormal creatures stayed out of view from humans and didn't commit any crimes. But now that she's gone that’s changing.
Miranda finds herself caught up in a world she never knew existed. She needs to find her mother before paranormal things get out of hand in Little Feather, and two very attractive men are willing to help her.

About the authors
As the youngest child, I always had to use my imagination to entertain myself while I grew up in the 1980's. That imagination served me well over the years and eventually made me a bit of a storyteller as I became an adult.
Getting lost in a good story has always been my favorite way to escape and I hope to create more worlds for others to escape to. I have a love for all things paranormal and strange, which I think translates into my stories. I also love nothing more than challenging the norms on occasion, so don't be surprised if you find characters that aren't what you would traditionally think in my worlds. No matter what, though, I want them to be relatable, even the villains. Because we are all the villain in someone else's story.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2021This was a fast read because I wanted to know what happens next! Very entertaining story with great characters and an adorable dog, Hank. Miranda gets called home to Little Feather, Ok because her mother is missing. What she doesn't know is that her mother is a P.I., No not that kind, a Paranormal Investigator. She is the police for
paranormals and Little Feather has a great deal of those. Join the search and excitement as Miranda learns as she goes in a trial by fire situation one after another.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2020This is the first time Dianne Harman has written a paranormal cozy mystery to my knowledge. It was great!! And this is just the beginning of a new series.
Miranda got a call that her Mom was missing and had to drive back to the little town of Little Feather to see if she could find her. While looking she found out that the town she grew up in was not exactly as she thought it was--and her Mom was a PI BUT--PI was not what she thought those initials stood for either.
With the help of a witch, a were wolf and various other creatures that she never knew really were real she was finally able to find her Mom!
Her Mom wants to retire and wants Miranda to take over her job--will she? Will she give up her normal life in Las Vegas, stay in Little Feather and take over for her. I guess we will know for certain when the next in the series comes out!! I for one can't wait.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2023I like the paranormal aspects of this. It's interesting without violence or overt sex. Well written. I liked Miranda right away and the fact she jumped right in and accepted things quickly and intelligently.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2020I have always liked Diane Harman's books, but this one was particularly great. I liked the main character Miranda, who returns to her home own of Little Feather to search for her missing mother. She also comes to realize that there is a lot more to her home town that she never realized. Great paranormal mystery with plenty of intrigue. Characters are well written and you have to love a corgi! This is book one of a series and I can't wait for the rest.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2023I have to say I was a lil bit hesitant to read this book even though I had purchased it. I love this author so I figured why not. I love paranormal books. I read Laurel K Hamilton, Christine Feehan etc. This first paranormal book is a good start of the series. I loved the lil corgi Hank. I had thought that he was more than just a pup and might if things got spicy. But he’s just a corgi. Love the book. Will continue with the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2025Easy read. Could use a bit more character development. Lots of paranormals. Good detective story but could use more details. Predictable ending.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2023Very interesting and well written story. The pages just flew by. The characters were very different and interesting. Keep going with this please.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2021I grew up in a small, really small town in Indiana. It definitely had it's dark and sometimes ugly side. However, nothing there could compare with the strange inhabitants of Little Feather. The story was interesting and unusual. The characters were well developed . The progression of the search was methodical, almost like a police procedural. I do intend to read the next book to see if it goes the way that I think it will.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic story.
I love all of Dianne's books. I wasn't sure what this one would be like with being a paranormal story. I am so glad I gave it a try. I had to read it in one sitting. The characters are really likeable even some of the paranormal ones. I can not wait to read the rest in the series. If you don't normally read paranormal books give this one a try. It is something very different and grabbed me from the beginning.
