Elizabeth Bailey grew up in Africa with unconventional parents, where she loved reading and drama. On returning to England, she developed her career in acting, theatre directing and finally writing.

Elizabeth's latest venture is The Lady Fan Mystery series, published by Sapere Books. The novels feature amateur sleuth Lady Ottilia Fanshawe and a cast of family members including her husband and champion Lord Francis Fanshawe. She originally published Regency romances with Harlequin Mills & Boon and has many titles in her Brides by Chance Regency Adventures series, now also published by Sapere, as well as standalone Regency and Georgian romances.

Elizabeth also writes edgy women's fiction: Her dual time novel Fly The Wild Echoes, which deals with past lives, and For One More Tomorrow, where the ghost of the real Macbeth returns, protesting his villainous portrayal by Shakespeare. And she has published a romantic suspense novella, Silence of a Stranger.

Elizabeth lives in Sussex, England. She is still an inveterate reader with eclectic tastes and she spends her spare time helping other writers improve their craft.

A thoroughly nice book.

The villains were less than believable and the denouement completely ridiculous.
The characters were engaging however and I enjoyed it for the most part. I found the manner in which Alex spoke to be quite distracting and although I have seen this sort of thing before in regency novels; so it might be accurate; it still took me out of the story and made me imagine Alex as a pompous ass, even while he was being chivalrous. The use of “chit” was jarring, and constantly infantilizing Apple was difficult to get past. Hen witted, featherbrained…calling her monkey, just rather icky.

Excellent- perhaps one of my favorite books. Delightful romp back in Regency. The constant use of the word ain’t was very jarring coming from the mouth of the upper crust. That was the books only flaw to me. Humor, mystery , clean romance, a wonderful story that I could not put down until the story was over. Then I was sad- but ah- I could get the next story by this author😊 It is a delight to read a well written story that draws you in and flows smoothly. The only jarring note was the frequent use of the word ain’t. A very talented author .

I like this one so much, I have now read it twice! Alex and Apple’s relationship is so fun to watch unfold. I really enjoy Elizabeth’s writing. I don’t feel like I’m reading about 21st century people in regency dress. But I’m not having to slog through early 19th century, enormously long, run on sentences that take up half the page, and contain slightly archaic words or word structures, along with paragraphs which are an entire page, and consist of two sentences, maybe three if you are lucky. See? That’s not fun to read, is it? Anyway, I love this fun story, and feel that it is everything a true Regency should be.

5.0 out of 5 stars a delightful read

in the best tradition of sweet Regency romance we have a spirited heroine with a hidden past and a capable and likeablie hero, whose chivalry defeats the dragons of guardians of the heroine. A quixotic urge to protect her grows into love, and with a few twists to the plot the couple satisfy the reader by finding their well-deserved HEA. I planned to ration myself over the holidays and read two chapters a day, which lasted precisely one day and I then devoured it. Like a good scone, enough substance to satisfy and enough cream and jam to make it delicious.

A masterly romp, quirky and endearing: Alex and Apple grapple with the period's damning social codes and their own assertive personality that makes for constantly challenging interplay before stumbling into fascination and helpless, perhaps hopeless passion.

A charming story that had me entertained the whole way through, without giving any clues as to how the apparently irreconcilable situation would finally be resolved.

There really is nothing more to add. I really really enjoyed this book.
Alex and Apple is what romance is about. Fun, laughs, a few tiffs... What's not to love about it?
This is a story that is going to be read again and again by me because it just is that kind of sweet romance.
Thank you Elizabeth Bailey. Hope the others in the series match up to A Winter's Madcap Escapade. Perfect reading as I sit by the window watching snow fall.
