MATCHED ON MAUI : A tender feel-good holiday novella: Island Escapes: Book 1 Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 59 ratings

She’s tiny. Blonde. Challenging. Troubled.

He’s tall. Dark. Ambitious. Confused.

Emmy Rossiter wants a few days of sunshine in Hawaii to gather strength for an upcoming family battle in New Zealand. But she isn't expecting lava-hot kisses on top of a volcano with Californian winemaker Carter.

Carter Cassidy needs time away from ‘a situation’. Maui with his mates seems the ideal answer – until he discovers an enticing woman who distracts him a lot more than the bars and beers.

Will romance with a stranger from the other side of the world bring happiness for Emmy and Carter?

A note from Kris: All my books can be read as standalones, and there are no cliff-hangers. The Scarlet Bay and Heartlands books are best read in order, but you can read the South & Sexy stories any way you like. Thanks for coming to meet me. I love words, and I use them to make the world a happier place by creating people who are perfect for each other – although maybe they can’t see that to start with.

I began writing at my local radio station in New Zealand and never stopped. TV followed, then horticultural articles (because I'm a keen gardener). After several advertising agencies, I then spent happy years as a retail ad manager. Totally hooked on fabrics, I surprised everyone by going into the curtain installation business with my husband and working for some of the capital city’s top designers. Good for my body, and it freed up my brain to write fiction. I didn't fall off my ladder once through drifting into romantic dreams, but I’ve certainly seen many beautiful homes and met wonderful people, and I may just have stolen glimpses of them for the books. (I didn’t say that, did I?)

I write sexy contemporary romance under my real name and the Merry Summerfield cozy mysteries as Kristie Klewes. These are funny and flirty and absolutely clean. (Well - apart from the bloodstains!)

I’m the author of more than thirty novellas and novels, three of which were finalists in New Zealand’s Clendon Award. Each can be read as a stand-alone, but some make up linked series. I hope you enjoy them all.

My more recent romances are billionaire beach stories about the wealthy Wynn family in Scarlet Bay - Summer Sparks, Summer Secrets, and Summer Spice. And the new Promise books - Promise You Nothing and Promise You Plenty.

Kris es una chispeante autora de romántica contemporánea, pura y simplemente. ¡Bueno, quizá no tan pura!

MATCHED ON MAUI is a standalone novella with a happy ever after - no cliffhanger. There is a bit of sexy involved if that is an issue for you. This is a fun read, something I really needed about now. A trip to Maui, hard to beat. Emmy has been working in London for a few years, tired of the weather and a break-up she decided to go home. Home is New Zealand but she decided to have some time on Maui to rest and relax on the beach before she gets home and has to try and talk her father into NOT selling their land.

Her first day there she runs into three young guys that are a bit rude and smelling like alcohol. Hoping they are not on her floor she gives them the elevator and waits on the next one. It comes back down and one of the guys is still on the lift. He is gorgeous but not her type. He sits down and begins to talk to her. He was really rather nice. He was not drinking and he apologized for his friends' behavior. She rather liked him. They chatted for a while and he asked her to do some of the tours with him. Tired and just wanting to rest she says she will think about it.

And so their story begins. Carter is from a big family, all medical. He is a winemaker but is having problems at his current job in California. As it happens, Emmy's family owns a vineyard but they sell the grapes and do not make wine themselves. This is a match made in heaven but will these two figure it out. It would mean moving from his home in California to New Zealand half way around the world. Will it work? Great read and I definitely recommend it.

By the way, I love the cover. Took me back to days when I lived on the big island. Nothing like Hawaii.

I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 11/5/2020

This novella is a quick read but definitely enjoyable. Emmy and Carter definitely click as they meet in Maui and do some of the local tourist stops together. Neither is looking for a match but it seems destined to happen anyway. Emmy is on her way back to New Zealand after a few years in the UK and a sticky break up and Carter is visiting from California while he decides what exactly he wants to be doing. I definitely would enjoy a lengthier exploration of both of their stories but it was a fun read and I loved the layover in Maui!! I read this book as both part of the Romancing the Summer Anthology that was available earlier in the year and as a stand-alone Novella by the author.

This is a fun Kiwi and American read. Emmy has been learning the wine trade in London, England; however, her family is thinking of selling the family vineyard. She heads for home to try and head them off. Emmy treats herself to a holiday in Hawaii on the way back to home in New Zealand. Carter is a California winemaker who is overdue for a vacation as well. He has kind of burned out on trying to please his vineyard owner. So, he and two buddies head off to Maui for some R&R in the relaxing sun.

Emmy and Carter meet at the resort where they are staying. The heat was there from the start, but they are reluctant to acknowledge it because they come from two distant countries. Can they risk becoming more than friends? What part do a possible meddling brother play? I had fun finding out in this book. I hope you too will enjoy this romance in the topics.

This is a very sweet story and cute to be a short. Carter and Emmy find each other on vacation and find they have a lot in common.

Emmy and Carter meet in Hawaii while vactioning. Both are dealing with issues back home about the same thing, although they don't know that about each other. They become tourist buddies realizing they can never be more since Emmy lives thousands of miles away.

The story was sweet, sexy, and heartwarming. I always love Kris Pearson's books.
