Although I found the first book a little more interesting, this sequel was a good close-out to the story. With help from others, Howard makes it his goal to travel back to the Mountains of Madness and destroy the Necronomicon. Some of his companions don't make it through to the end, but considering the forces he's dealing with, it's almost expected that some won't make it. If you have a chance to read the first book, then I would also highly recommend this book as well.
