Never be ashamed of eating meat again.

Today, as in many times throughout Church history, plant-pushing teachers are arising both within and outside of the church to condemn the eating of meat and other animal products. In
Meat: a brief, Biblical theology, Joshua Jones takes a quick look at many aspects related to meat-eating and veganism and does so in a way that is both faithful to Scripture and funny. It covers both Scripture and church history from the anti-sex cereals of Dr Kellogg to the Platonic plant ideas that the Church Fathers had to battle.
It is a quick and easy read (about 60 pages). You'll want to get one for yourself as well as for your favorite meat-eater.

This was SUCH a fantastic book!!! I read the entire book in about 2hrs. Love the concise writing that was dense and filled with references and truth. The focus on scripture was apparent. I know this book was sent to me for a divine reason, as part of my purpose in God’s Kingdom. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

This is a fantastic, concise rebuttal to the growing voices of condemnation for those who enjoy God's gift of meat. The foreword by Eugene Bach alone is worth the price of admission, and the book is peppered throughout with just the right amount of humor.

In short space, Jones will surprise many readers with the overwhelming positivity that the Scriptures have toward the consumption of animal products. He additionally addresses some of the typical ethical objections to carnivorous diets, both from a practical standpoint as well as from a theological one.

I have been reading the Bible to understand this point of view. This is directly to the point without being pushy or rude, and shows how meat is created for us and superior for nutrition.
A must read! Very quick and easy to read.

Here's the thing. This book is exactly what it claims to be, "Brief" and "Theological", with a lot of tongue-in-cheek humor. Obviously, there are complexities to a meat-centric diet and lifestyle, but those are not covered here. This book does not go into detail about such topics as breeding, harvesting, butchering, storing, or cooking meat. While each of these things deserves careful consideration as well, this is a quick introduction to the subject matter, not an exhaustive treatment of it.

So let's be clear. If you are not interested in what the Judeo-Christian Bible & Church history have to say about eating meat, then this isn't the book for you. And if you don't have a somewhat silly and self-aware sense of humor, this book probably isn't for you. And if you have a moral conviction against eating meat, then this probably isn't the book for you.

But if you want a fun, quick, and thoughtful introduction to a biblical perspective on eating meat, then this is definitely worth your time.

This short book hits on some controversial ideas about foods. They are backed up with humor and this was a fun, great, informational read…confirms how I’m already eating. Thank you!

Take a few minutes out of your day to read this little book. Sarcasm and humor mixed with accurate church history and good scriptural hermeneutics.

Terribly ignorant and simplistic excuses filled with proof texts. You absolutely cannot justify the theological case for factory farming. I mention factory farming because it's the only way we can mass produce meat in the modern world; trying to do grass fed diets would inevitably lead to all sorts of problems with the most glaring being: a lack of resources. We don't have enough land, period. Factory farming is the only option to sustain the current demand so it's the only topic of discussion around meat eating.
