Editorial Reviews

Review

★ ★ ★ ★"There are many diverse and interesting articles in the debut issue that make it worth investigating for horror fans looking for some less-recognized creators to support: book and game reviews, a fictionalized "interview" with Primal (the burly cosplayer featured on the cover), columns on writing, a moving memoir by an indie writer, a feature on a dark fashion designer, a profile of a paranormal investigator, some author spotlights, and a music review. Well done, and engaging reading." Top reviews from the United States

I have nothing but gratitude in my heart as I flip through the pages of the inaugural issue of Momento Mori Ink. I am thankful for all of the creators found within these pages and for the incredible leadership that brought it all together. This magazine has everything that makes my cold, dead heart leap for joy. Articles about all things horrific. Books, art, fashion, music, and video games.

Aside from the gorgeous layout, this magazine has multiple top-tier articles about all things horror. Lisa Lee Tone offers spot on reviews of some of the hottest horror books out there today. Ezekial Kincaid gives us an in depth look into paranormal investigation done by a pastor, including some harrowing experiences he's had. Jae Mazer gives us an in-depth account of a cannibalistic author who somehow avoided justice.

We get an amazing history on the fashion contributions of the late Alexander McQueen from Diana Olney, and an interview with an artist who makes gorgeous enclosures for our arachnid friends. Cameron Fuller contributes a stellar game review of Darkest Dungeon II, which sound too damn hard for a gamer like myself (he still made me want to play it, though). And Thomas Clark gave us a super entertaining look at the Alien franchise and how it's played a major role in making cosmic horror commonplace. Sam Gregory, Z. Martin, and Jacque Day gave us snippets about "The Monster Within". These columns opened the magazine perfectly. Author Maxwell I. Gold gave us a dystopian nightmare of a poem, jeez that was dark!

Lucius Valiant did an amazing job reviewing Creep Upon You, the newest release from the band Creeper. Thomas Clark and D. Pardee Whiting both made us tear up with heartfelt praise of author James A. Moore who we lost on March 27th, 2024 at age 58 to cancer.

There were interviews with author Matt Forgit, and popular cosplayer Primal (who graces the cover). The interview with Primal was more like a scary story, but the photography that went along with it was stunning. A.J. Brown gave us hints on how to hook your audience early to keep them reading. And my absolute favorite piece was the completely honest and raw article from John R. Little. Whew the emotions while reading that one!

Basically, this magazine has it all! Congrats to Lisa Vasquez and Crystal Lake for creating such an amazing work of art! I can't wait for the next issue!
