From the Author

Most people immediately think of the lush green countryside when they conjure images of Ireland, but the Irish skies are equally impressive as they display their moods throughout the day.

This book shares with you these mercurial manifestations over the Emerald Isle, captured by me during various seasons and times of day.
I hope my photographs add another compelling perspective to our shared love for this mystical and spiritual island.

James A. Truett, author of the bestselling seven-volume Mystical Moods of Ireland series of photo essays, is a former Associated Press journalist whose work has appeared in most major newspapers and many websites around the world.

He has survived a shooting (his camera took the bullet!), a raging forest wildfire and Los Angeles traffic during his journeys as a sailor, private pilot and adventurer, travelling extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, Ireland and Scotland.

A second-generation Irish immigrant born in Alaska, he retraced the path of his grandmother and settled near the family farm in County Clare more than a decade ago, immersing himself in the inspiring and soul-stirring natural beauty of Ireland.

When not exploring the Irish countryside, he enjoys cooking and introducing his Irish family to international cuisine during family lunches. All have survived so far.

He battles his addiction to news by sharing his inspirational images and Irish blessings on his popular Facebook page at Facebook.com/jamesatruett and Instagram account at Instagram.com/jamesatruett.

This is such a beautiful book, from the sunrises and sunsets, to storms clouds lifting to reveal a lovely sunrise and clear blue skies. James A. Truett captures the beauty of Ireland in his stunning photography. I hope to visit there one day but in the meantime, I have his books to enjoy during the Winter months in my corner of the World. Thank you James for such beautiful scenes from the Emerald Isle.

What beautiful pictures. The colors are magnificent. The landscape is unbelievable. Makes me look really a whole lot forward to going to Ireland and seeing all these sites. Anyone who is interested in Ireland should look through this book and read it’ll just describe how beautiful it must truly be there!

Amazing photos of Ireland. Many show the spectacular sunrises in colors of pinks and oranges. I would love to visit the country just to see the sunrise and some old castles. Can't wait to get to volume 2!

I really enjoyed this book, the pictures are other-worldly. I finished it and then made my husband sit and watch with me. He was really impressed also. I hadn't seen so many stars since I was a little girl and lived in the country. Also one can never go wrong with castles! Castles are one thing that our great country (USA) is missing.

I have been enjoying going through this enchanting book. The pics are so beautiful. I have never been to Ireland, but now I think I will go there sometime. I never thought of this until now. James Truett is a very talented photographer and did an awesome job with this book. Highly recommended if you love to watch brilliant photos!

Someone is a very good photographer and seems to be well versed in Lightroom. The photos are stunning! But most of them could have been taken anywhere. There are some nice castle ruins, gravestones, and a stone circle, but otherwise there were a bunch of nature shots that looked like they could have been in the U.S. or Australia or anywhere else in the world. Nice color-enhanced skies. Didn't really feel whisked away to the Emerald Isle.

The photographer captures lovely Celtic Skies, but I was very disappointed that only a few photos actually captured the landscape of beautiful Ireland. Without the land for a reference, these photos could be anywhere in the world. If Mr. Truett had framed both landscape and sky, I would have truly felt the enchantment.

The photographs in this book are beautiful, I personally love photos of sunrises and sunsets and appreciated the time and effort involved in taking and assembling these photos. It makes me want to experience a sunrise or sunset in Ireland…maybe one day.
