Review

"Moon-Force 1 has all the makings of a cartoon series, with a resolute villain and a strong-willed team of heroes. The story is fast-paced and has no dull moments. Even when it felt as if all hope was lost, Mesa kept fighting." 5/5 stars by Luwi Nyakansaila for Readers' Favorite

Janelle M. Adams lives a home-schooled life with her mom, dad, older sister, and her cat, Blue. You might see Blue in some of her artwork throughout this book. Janelle started drawing around 2015. When her mom wrote a book that year, she drew pictures for it. After her sister wrote a book a few years later, Janelle began to feel a little left out so she wrote Moon-Force 1 and began drawing. In 2021 she started a YouTube channel called Art Class with Moon! She wanted to teach others how to draw like her because drawing helps her feel at peace and relaxed. She also has a website https://artclasswithmoon.wixsite.com/website where she shows her drawings and holds giveaways! Janelle is working on the series for you to enjoy. More exciting adventures await with Mesa, Ethan, Katie, Smilax, and some new characters!

Mesa White is enjoying a normal teenage life on planet earth until she receives an unexpected visit and learns she is princess from a far-away world called Satellite. Ethan informs her that she is the only one who can save them from the evil, Mirwilla. Mesa will be their savior when she employs her special powers,

Mesa wants to help, but she is confused and perplexed. What are these powers and how can they be useful in saving the planet? Can she trust this boy named Ethan?

The book contains a lot of magic, fantasy, and adventure. There are twists and turns that will entertain young readers. The artwork is well-done and appealing. I would suggest using a bit less dialogue and more active voice. This is book one in a series, so I am eager to follow the progress of this young writer.

Moon-Force 1 is the story of a young teenage girl named Mesa who discovers she's a princess from a far-away planet. It's her job to save it from the evil Queen Mirwilla.

It's a lovely debut story full of adventure. The young author does a very fine job of describing the characters so readers can picture exactly what they look like. The illustrations at the beginning of each chapter are also nicely done.

Middle-grade readers who enjoy fantasy stories will enjoy this book and may even be inspired to write their own.

Adventure and science fiction meld into a fun tale about a princess, who needs discover her true self to save those she loves.

This book would make a lovely, nightly read-aloud. The first chapter sets the stage and background, reading much like a fairy tale. Then, in the second chapter, the characters gain personality and the true adventure begins.

Imagination runs high as this one travels between far-away worlds, princesses, and evil queens. Mesa is a sweet girl with a big heart, who has many friends and family. She's easy to connect to and fun to root for, right along with Ethan. I suggest this one as a read-aloud because it's the type of read to let dreams and imagination take flight, which will especially come to life when hearing it told by a loved one.

Those readers, who are sure of their words but not ready for longer tales, will find the short chapters and quick pace as well as the short length ideal. The vocabulary is at their level, yet still introduces a few tougher words every now and then. It's an easy read with tons of adventure and will have princess and planet friends curious what might happen next.

Adams's story is well thought out and has a bit of twists and turns.

Keep up the great work, Janelle M. Adams. A little less dialogue is something you might want to consider in the future. You are off to an excellent start.
