    So this book was praised in many places on social media and by many people I follow. I took my time before reading it 'coz I wanted to read it "outside the hype," if that makes sense...
    Well, it was totally worth it!
    The MCs were well-developed, and the conflict was real and not so easy to overcome. I came close to actually crying over my Kindle at a few points in the story. The sex scenes are steamy, Melissa Tereze delivers as always :)
    There's a bit of angst, but it's not too heavily pronounced, though some scenes are a bit over the top (when the angst is coming from miscommunication between the MCs, I don't have the patience for such an old trope). However, the main thing is the undeniable chemistry between MCs and their willingness to sacrifice everything for each other.
    I loved that the characters' development is shown through flashbacks, depicting their personal development through key points in their lives and in their relationship. It shows how they've grown over the last decade and why not is the best timing for them. In my opinion, this is what elevates the book from a "simple" romance to a more profound and well-written one.

    Tropes: Age gap, rich girl/poor girl, forbidden love, angst, miscommunication (not a lot, thankfully).
    Triggers: Infidelity, unsupportive family, abandonment, open-door sex scenes.

    I love when a book lives up to the hype, and this one certainly does. On the surface, the premise may seem a bit unsavory. But this story is far from that. Yes - a woman falls for her best friend's mother, but this isn't some teenager who wants nothing more than to have sex with an older, hot woman. The best friend, Emma, is now in her 30s and has been close with Lauren's family her entire adult life. She and Lauren met in college and aren't just best friends - they are like sisters. Lauren is straight and has no issues with Emma's homosexuality, but Emma has never really had someone that really mattered in her life. She's long been secretly in love with Vanessa Middleton, Lauren's mother, even though she knew nothing could ever come of it because Mrs. Middleton is married. So she admired her intelligence, stunning good looks and kindness from a safe distance, wishing Vanessa would be treated as wonderfully as she deserved to be by her often-absent, philandering husband.
    The night before Emma is about to leave for a temporary, months-long teaching position in Africa, she drunk dials Mrs. Middleton and confesses her true feelings. While horrified when she realizes what she's done, at least it's now in the open. As she has always done, Mrs. Middleton was kind and understanding, telling Emma that she was flattered but encouraged nothing more, wishing her well on her upcoming adventure. Shortly thereafter, Mrs. Middleton's husband asks for a divorce so he can marry his 25 year old secretary. Just as Emma is about to return from Africa, Lauren decides to take six weeks away to visit her boyfriend in Australia and asks Emma to stay at their home while she searches for a home of her own. Lauren doesn't want her mother to be all alone while dealing with the pain of the divorce. Emma knows there's no way she can survive living with Vanessa Middleton no matter how much she wants to support her - especially now that Vanessa knows how she feels.
    So what happens when the ideal, unattainable woman - who reveals she is actually bisexual - suddenly becomes free? Lauren would never understand them getting together and neither woman can fathom jeopardize their close relationship with her. But here they are, all alone, barriers gone. And Vanessa is everything Emma's always wanted.
    This is well written and ridiculously hot. While I wouldn't necessarily consider this an erotic romance, it straddles that line. I had to read it all in one sitting because I was completely enthralled. And incidentally, this was supposed to be released in April but some dillweed pirated it so Melissa Tereze had to release it early. I'd love to see the lesfic community support her by buying this book. Not just for that reason - but because it's a great read and well worth owning. Highly recommend!

    This has got to be hands down the best book you've ever written. I've read other book by you, but none have captured me the way Mrs. Middleton has. The characters, the plot, the sex scenes. I think these are the best sex scenes you have ever written. Please keep them coming do not shy away. I never wanted the book to end its that good. The intensity of their love was off the charts so much so that I felt their pain and their passion. It's 4am and I have to be up for work in a few hours, thank goodness I work from home. I kept hearing the Toto song, Africa in my head throughout the book. The lyrics are so fitting for the story. You have set a precedent and your next story has to bring it. I can't wait to read your next book and it will be hard but the sex scenes have to be mind blowing like they were in this book. I need a Mrs. Middleton asap!

    Holy sh!t! I made the mistake of reading the end of chapter 9 while in a ride-share. With my parents sitting by my side! Jesus, what a terrible, terrible mistake. Torture! Lmao

    But for real? The biggest mistake I made was taking this long to read this delightful tale.

    It was heartbreakingly beautiful, a really gorgeous story. It oozed sensuality, sexiness. Got me hot and bothered on so MANY occasions, hahaha. It did get a bit too mushy (for my taste) for a moment, but it was nice nonetheless. Both MCs have lots of insecurities/hang-ups and really could do with some counselling, but they were lovely together. I'm excited to read the Teach Me and revisit these two, hoping it'll be at least as good as Mrs. Middleton.

    p.s.: okay, so I'm about to turn 33, where's my 50yo MILF? I really need to get some (new) friends.

    At last a great story that does it just right!!!! I've lost count of how many lesfic novels I have read particularly ones with an age gap but this is the book that nails it. It should come with a warning. I had my mouth gasped open through many of the chapters. This book shoukd come with a warning that says ...beaware you will not be able to put this down, you will lose track of time and miss hours in work and hours of sleep. I read it within 36 hours inbetween working and child rearing, I'm not an early riser but I found myself reaching to read the next chapter as soon as I woke up. Perfect story, characters and scenes and the author really captured the sexual tension and build up between two women. Excellent descriptions of the older of the two women and how incredibly sexy an older dominant woman can be. The sexual politics between the two women was interesting... Please can there be a follow on book for what happens in Africa!

    Mrs Middleton is an age gap forbidden WLW best friend's mom romance. It was the first time reading such a trope (falling for your best friend's mom), but I'm a firm believer that you can't help who you fall in love with so I was completely on board!

    Here we have Emma, a 33-year old who comes from a dysfunctional family. She meets Lauren in college and over the years becomes quite attached to Lauren and her mother, Vanessa. We learn early in the story that she fell in love with Vanessa years ago, so right away the story is different from anything I've read before. Usually books end with an 'I love you', not begin, and the author did an incredible job developing their forbidden romance.

    While Vanessa is recently divorced and also secretly in love with Emma, she comes off as strong and steady, albeit a bit of people pleaser. Emma is a lot more complex. Going into the book, I was on the lookout for Emma's "childlike" behaviour (the perception I got from a few of the reviews), but all I saw was an emotionally scarred woman after years of neglect and abuse.  As someone who comes from a broken home as well, and who spent years in foster care, Emma was the most relatable character in the book for me. Her devotion for Vanessa, and fear of abandonment, paired with Vanessa's nurturing nature, was written so beautifully, so believably, that I'd give Mrs Middleton 10 Stars if I could. Do I recommend? Hell yes. And tell your friends!
