This is a collection of cozy mystery stories (a little short for books!,). But Father Douglas is a happy priest who loves his life and the quiet picturesque place he lives. He is always delighted to pitch in and help Detective Tom, his good friend, solve the murders that happen in his Parrish!

I like that each story is a little different and dealing with different murders, Father Douglas always manages to solve the crime. They are short, but takes you on a crazy journey which the writer has done on purpose to thrill the reader.

I was more than disappointed in these for books. I found numerous mistakes. So bad that in the last book they talk of the mayor being killed, it was his wife. The stories all felt unfinished.

The. Mysteries are well written. The caracter of the priest makes it a warm hearted story. The fact that the priest and the detective get along well is a nice change to many detective novels. Alrhough sometimes a bit short, the mysteries are well thought out. Clean language.

There are some editing problems, but on the whole the stories are enjoyable short reads. Can be read at one sitting and each short story is set in a slightly different area.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Reviewed in Australia on November 28, 2018
I was looking forward to 4 books set in Australia, cosy mysteries. I received 4 novellas, or shorter, with an American voice and terms. The author is Australian, apparently, so I’m not sure why we hear of pavements or trash and more. The local mayor threatens to fire the detective, which certainly can’t happen.
The editing has missed important mistakes - at least one time mis-identifying the victim for the spouse, and changing from evening to midday within a scene. It is as if a rewrite was not complete.
There is little mystery, with almost no misdirection or alternative suspects. Everything is very simplistic and sometimes unbelievable. As I said, disappointing.

1.0 out of 5 stars This book is awful
Reviewed in Australia on August 16, 2019
The prose is badly written, the story lines are at times incoherent, there is no description, and the setting could be anywhere. For someone who claims to love the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, the geography is all wrong.
Add to this detail that is in the wrong country. Funnel cakes at a rural Australian fete?
    Not worth the bother.
