Murder Well-Bred (Robin Vaughan Equestrian Mysteries Book 3) Kindle Edition
Can Robin rely on her horse sense when she stumbles on a deadly secret?
Mexico, 1990s
When horse-crazy Robin Vaughan accompanies her husband Jeet on a culinary tour of San Miguel de Allende, she’s looking forward to dabbling in journalism herself.
But her interview with dressage maestro Hans Bell is a disaster. And when Robin runs into Marilee Hart, an old Texas acquaintance – now running the beautiful ranch Milagro – she soon realises she’s uncovered a far darker story. For there’s something very unusual about the horses of Milagro…
And when Marilee is shot dead, it seems someone will go to any lengths to protect the secret.
Can Robin solve the mystery or will she meet the same fate as Marilee? And has Jeet really been kidnapped, or has Robin got the wrong end of the stick again?
With a gunman on the loose and a severe stomach bug to contend with, can Robin emerge with her life – and dignity – intact?
The third equestrian story to feature the engaging Robin Vaughan, MURDER WELL-BRED is a gripping mystery told with Carolyn Banks’s trademark humour.

Editorial Reviews
Review
"Crisply flip dialogue is her metier." -- Los Angeles Times
From the Inside Flap
While her food critic husband, Jeet, checks out San Miguel's cuisine, equestrienne Robin Vaughan heads for the country to interview a famed dressage master. But Hans Bell is nastily uncooperative, his elegant horses are nervous, and the interview is a flop. So an encounter with an old Texas friend, Marilee Hart, who's sitting pretty on a wonderful ranch called Milagro -- "Miracle." Marilee is not friendly and, like Bell's horses, she's terribly nervous. And before long, she's dead.
Who fires the shots that killed her? Why is Milagro such a deep secret? Wild horses couldn't keep Robin from snooping for the truth, a story too bizarre to believe -- and much too dangerous to print....

- Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2023Format: KindleTake a chance and read this book, even if you're not a horse person. The writing is well done and the characters are believable. Conversations are natural and normal, not stilted at all. The book ended way too soon; I didn't want it to end. Highly recommend!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2007I really enjoyed Carolyn Banks dressage themed mysteries. Not only are they accurate as far as the horse information goes, they are enjoyable reads. They are all on my keep shelf. I hope more are coming someday.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2001Format: Mass Market PaperbackAll of Carolyn's books are funny, and Murder Well-Bred is no exception. To horse people, the most important thing in a book is accuracy - nothing peeves us more than reading a book that has horses in it and trip over inaccuracies on every page. Banks' books are "equinely" accurate, entertaining, and fun!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 1999Format: Mass Market PaperbackI haven't read a book this much fun in a LOOOONG time! Being a horse person myself, I can appreciate her horsey descriptions (which are right on) and her other "bodily function" descriptions are a hoot. A great mystery which I'd love to see on the TV screen.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 1999Format: Mass Market PaperbackBut I gave it to all my horse-loving friends, because this Carolyn Banks, set in Mexico, is sooo funny and true. ( you'll never drink the local water anymore.)
