- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2015Murder on the Beach, a short Detective Jack Creed Novel in e-book form by C. T. Mitchell in which Jack is on his way home from a popular up-scale beach resort when he receives a call from Jo, his local detective compatriot. The CEO of a prominent business organization has been found on the beach literally brained by an expensive golf club. The two begin their investigation and discover that numerous reasons exist for his murder. This man was responsible for a sizeable loss in company assets for which board members ultimately would be responsible if not recovered, had not seen to payment of the employees' superannuation, which was a tax related misdemeanor and had been given an ultimatum to stop his affair with the company's events manager. Additionally, the next person in line for his position was known to have had a violent argument with him and rumors of his other affairs within the company existed. The coroner finally provides another lead and Jack ultimately wraps up the case in a somewhat unforeseen manner.
Conclusion: An enjoyable diversion when you `want something to read' and have only a limited amount of time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Short and sweet
I was surprised at how short the story was and it certainly didn't have a lot of depth in plot or characters. An ok short read though!

4.0 out of 5 stars It was a good book, good story if anyone wants to read ...
I rate this book four stars because at the beginning of the page it was not clear to me what the story all about. But as I carried on reading it I find the story more and more interesting. It was a good book, good story if anyone wants to read this book then I recommend it to anyone who likes the thrill and lots of suspense.

2.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish
I did not enjoy this book. It was not well written and the characters were unbelievable. I read it to the end as did not have anything else to read but the ending was ludicrous. I won't be reading any more from this author anytime soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars An old fashioned whodunit written in a slick, contemporary style
I'd describe this book as an old fashioned whodunit written in a slick, contemporary style. It's a long, short story that is perfect for reading if you have an hour or so to kill. The author's writing style is confident and entertaining, and I warmed to the characters immediately (even though this was the first Jack Creed offering that I had read in the series). I loved the plot; I hadn't a clue who the murderer was until it was revealed towards the end!
If you enjoy a good murder mystery that's bang up to date with realistic characters and a great story-line then I'm sure that you will enjoy following the criminal investigations of Detective Jack Creed just as much as I did.
