About the authors
Miguel Fliguer lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His first book “Cooking with Lovecraft” received moderate praise from genre luminaries like S.T. Joshi and Wilum H. Pugmyr. His short stories have appeared in Circulo de Lovecraft (Spain), Vastarien (Grimscribe Press), Crypt of Cthulhu (USA), Strange Aeon 2022, and in several Innsmouth Gold horror anthologies. He has collaborated with eldritch recipes for the illustrated culinary grimoires "Necronomnomnom" and "Lovecraft Cocktails" (Red Duke Games). He dwells on Twitter as @cookingwithHPL and on the Book of Faces as himself.
Matt Henshaw (he/him) lives in Central IL with his wife and cats. Matt's creative output includes music, art, and writing. He has been a contributor to the WXXT Program Guide by Matt Bartlett, and his story, Khilljoy Memorial Home appears in Trigger Warning: Speaking Ill from Madness Heart Press. Other short stories have appeared or are forthcoming from Godless.com, Cosmic Horror Monthly, and D&T Publishing's ABCs of Horror Vol. 4 in 2022. He is the editor and creator of The Nafallen University Course Catalog from Madness Heart Press, and writer and editor of Olde Wyathscope’s Quarterly Concern, a weird and strange almanac project in collaboration with visionary artist Mat Fitzsimmons. John Baltisberger is an author of speculative and genre fiction that often focuses on Jewish Elements. Through his writing, he has explored themes of mysticism, faith, sin, and personal responsibility. He lives in Austin, TX with his wife and his daughter.
Though mostly known for his bizarre blend of Jewish mysticism and splatter, John defies being labeled under any one genre. His work has spanned extreme horror, urban fantasy, science fiction, cosmic horror, epic verse, and he has even written a guide for mindful meditation.
While relatively new to the writing community, (his first book was published in 2018) John has become known for his work in verse, having worked in both extremely short works and massive novella-length poetic epics. He continues to work to push himself to explore new avenues of expression and horror literature.
Carlton Herzog publishes supernatural horror, science fiction and crime stories, as well as non-ficiton. His fiction portrays characters who are outsiders to ordinary life. Filled with strange terrors and brutal absurdities, his writing bends reality until it cracks. He is a USAF veteran with B.A. magna cum laude and J.D. from Rutgers. He served as Articles Editor of the Rutgers Law Review.
He had this to say about writing: “Writing is to the mind what exercise is to the body. I love the process from start to finish. Editorial acceptance, monetary remuneration, and public approval are nothing when compared with the irreplaceable feeling of personal accomplishment. Writing is a stroll through the insubstantial country of my mind. A land where I can see reflections of myself that are more me than anything I can find in a mirror or the eyes of others. it is an introcosm where I am truly free to see what I have done and yet may do, home to all my disappointments and discoveries, rememberings and reveries."
Alexander Nachaj, PhD lives just outside of Montreal with his wife, daughter, and a cranky old cat. He is the author of over two dozen short stories and several of his horror and thriller screenplays have won awards at various festivals. His debut novella, Heist, is now available from Black Hare Press.
Tobin was destined for horror. This became obvious when, in the span of two weeks, he built a working model of a guillotine out of popsicle sticks and a razor blade — which his Grade Five teacher didn't seem to appreciate as much as he did — and he also learned to tie a noose and proudly hung one from their apartment balcony — which his mother and the superintendent didn't seem to appreciate as much as he did.
Eventually, he learned to focus the horror into stories. His friends and neighbours likely appreciate the lesser PDH (Public Displays of Horror).
Besides writing ugly stories about bad people doing horrible things, Tobin also counts embarrassing his wife and kids, pointing out the stupidities of others, being dumb to kind animals, and killing plants among his hobbies.
Finally, Tobin loves feedback, either positive or negative, on his writing. You can find him occasionally reviewing stuff, or being sarcastic all over the internet.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2022Have you ever had the feeling that your university or college is sadistic? This tome is a perfectly noir satire of a university course catalogue. It covers all the departments from science (ex: nurturing the necrophila americana) to fashion design (ex: history of execution garb) and even provides a glimpse of student life at the home of the Cantankerous Cephalopods (who are cheered on by NUMB, the Nafallen Univ. Marching Band, of course.) There are many Lovecraftian references smattered amongst the course offerings; course titles seem perfectly reasonable at first glance but reveal nefarious twist as you delve into the descriptions. The devil (or perhaps Cthulu) is in the details.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2022A unique and creative approach to telling stories, through the structure of a course catalog. Highly recommended for anyone looking to try something a little different and to support a group of talented writers.
