Can Ambrose bring about political reform through his writing?

Lancashire, 1831

Having inherited his mother’s fighting spirit,
Ambrose Longe uses his independent newspaper, The Clarion, to argue for political and social reform.

Despite mounting debts, Ambrose refuses to compromise his principles. But just when his prospects look bleakest, the wise and wealthy
Naomi Blüm arrives in Millbridge.

Recognising his talent, Naomi offers to invest in a new and improved newspaper with Ambrose at the helm. And so a new tour de force,

I could have stopped after the third book and been happy. I didn’t love what ended up happening with one of the main characters.

If you are a lover of historical fiction and family sagas this series will not disappoint.
The author built strong characters that you fall in love with, follow their lifes interests, dreams, idiosyncrasies, and more throughout generations.
I must add, Thank you Nicholas Mathys for being you, as I will always remember Jack and his 'little voice'
    a laugh out loud moment!
Now if you want to know what that is all about, you will have to read book 4, but of course 1-3 comes must come first. I hope you enjoy this series as much as I did.

With imperfect humans, there are disappointments & heartaches, tragic losses, broken hearts, missed opportunities, & obliviousness.
But, I enjoyed the series thoroughly, & found this last book #4 The Northern Correspondent to have lighthearted moments of humor which helped to offset the saddest or hardest moments.
    Gorgeous series.

The conclusion of the Brief Chronicles made a satisfying and interesting read. Loaded with historical context while maintaining the threads of love and life originating from Dorcas and Ned Howarth’s issue in the first book, Kit’s Hill. As a resident of a northern industrial town, there was so much of interest here and so much similarity in historical experience. I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend.
