Not Dressed: A laugh-out-loud romance as twisted as real life (Wallflowers Series Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 111 ratings

Love is messy—clothing is optional.

Jake knows Lindsay isn’t the right woman for him. What gave it away? Maybe the fact that she took a new position at work, working nights producing a talk radio show without even discussing the change with him? Or maybe that she took a modeling job without talking to him? Or maybe because she started taking modeling gigs that require her to be Not Dressed… the list goes on, but Jake’s finished.
Meanwhile, Jake can only tolerate his nightmare day job as an architectural designer with workplace pranks, hilarious antics, and a betting pool based on how long interns will last.
With their relationship deteriorating, Lindsay signs them up for a dance class to reignite the spark they once had. Maybe it’ll be fun. Except Lindsay cancels at the last minute, and insists he go without her. He does and meets Kaylee, a fun and friendly yet hopelessly geeky girl he instantly likes. As their friendship grows, it seems that Kaylee could be the key to helping Jake discover his true path, and Jake might be her lifeline to finally realizing her worth. There’s just one problem; Jake’s still with Lindsay.
Can Jake navigate the intricacies of ending a relationship while falling for someone new? Or will he be caught with his pants down?

NOTE: Not Dressed and the other Wallflowers series novels are standalone books set in the same universe. While there are some character crossovers between the books, you do not have to read them in order.

I was a fan of his first book, so I was excited for this one. The growth was evident early in how connected I was to the characters. In his last book the characters were well written, but one of the main characters was so sweet it was easy to feel protective of her. This time around they felt more on the same wavelength which led to a more balanced experience as a reader. His signature sense of humor is still intact, along with the witty dialogue that hooked me the first time around. What you’ll find is a well written story that’s entertains and perfectly mirrors that awkward stage of growing into an adult.

Jake's an architectural designer and his live-in girlfriend, Lindsay, is a radio personality. He's on a job that was supposed to be temporary but somehow it didn't and it's draining him, and somewhere along the way his relationship seems to be on the rocks.
It's awfully realistic in the way it portrays relationships, the characters, and life situations.

If you are a fan of Jonathon Trooper or Matthew Norman, you will become a fan of Matthew Hanover. This is a witty and funny novel about relationships and adulthood. I know a book is good when I fill in empty periods of time by picking up my iPhone and reading a couple of pages, or a chapter, until life encroaches, and I found myself doing exactly that with this quick read. I do recommend you start with Matthew's first book, Not Famous, also a great book, as there is some cross referencing.

This book was interesting! It was entertaining and funny with a serious side note. The author describes it best in the description. I received a free copy from VoraciousReadersOnly.

This is about the perfect storm of stagnant relationships, awful work environment, isolation and loneliness, which leads to bad choices. Ultimately, the protagonists make it through, but not without causing some hurt along the way. Interesting premise.

This is a book with interesting, well developed characters and a storyline that both seriously and humorously deals with the complexities of their interactions and relationships. I enjoyed Not Dressed beginning to end.

Much better than the first book in the series, (with cameo appearances from.a.couplemof the same characters).
However, Emma is quite correct in saying that Yanks are weirdly uptight and prudish about nudity. The MC's stuffy and puritanical reaction to his girlfriend's second job as an artist's model is just bizarre.

First off, I really enjoyed this book. It's fun, charming and there are times that I know exactly what the character is feeling or going through. If you liked Matthew's other book then you'll definitely like this one. A fabulous writing style that can suck you in and in no time, you've read 50 pages.

Having enjoyed the first book by Matthew Hanover U was keen to see what this novel would be like. I have to admit that while it was an okay read it was not a patch on the first book and I will have probably forgotten the storyline in a month. What i also found particularly frustrating was that this was published without anyone having checked it for typos. There was one section that read like a Yorkshire man missing out every third word!
