All Roads Lead To Murder: 4th book in the Old Maids of Mercer Island series (Old Maids of Mercer Island Mysteries) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 200 ratings

Four older women (and a few ghosts) wreak havoc on a group of killers on this road trip from hell. Who said vacations are boring?

When Julia Applegate and her friends agree to drive a motorhome to Wisconsin for a friend, the trip goes horribly wrong when Julia thinks she sees a young girl in trouble in the back window of an RV. Three dead bodies later, along with a Keystone Cops road chase, a harrowing rescue in the mountains of Minnesota, and a Tarzan-like effort to save the life of a U.S. Senator at the largest Republican gathering in the country, and you know you're back in the wacky world of the Old Maids of Mercer Island.

Ms. Bohart kills people for fun and profit (on paper, that is).

She holds a master's degree in theater (directing) and has taught both acting and directing. She has been published in “Woman's World” and "Dead on Demand", an anthology of ghost stories that was on the Library Journal Bestsellers List. She also wrote for the Renton Reporter and has taught writing classes through Kent Parks & Recreation and currently through Green River College.

As an avid dog lover and canine rescue advocate, she weaves dogs into all her novels. In fact, they play major roles. "I want the dogs to be realistic, though," she says. "I don't like books that make animals seem like cartoon figures."

Ms. Bohart now has ten paranormal mystery novels on Amazon, along with two short story books, and two nonfiction books. Her most popular series is the Old Maids of Mercer Island. The first book in that series, "Inn Keeping With Murder" remained on Amazon's top ghost story list for over ten months.

She recently launched the NO ALIBI ZONE on her website as a resource for both mystery writers and mystery fans. The No Alibi Zone takes a deep dive into how homicides are investigated. Through her newsletter “Let’s Talk About Murder,” she interviews police officers, mystery writers, forensic technicians, and others who work in the field of murder investigations. She also writes the MURDER BRIEF, which are blog posts on topics like the serial killer gene, the Body Farm, whether eyewitness testimony is reliable, and more.

I've really been looking forward to the 4th in this series for over a year and it was a Wowzer! This is the wildest and craziest adventure yet for the four wonderful group of older women that you just can't help to love. It was almost non-stop excitement from the moment they all take off to drive a RV to Wisconsin as a favor to friends of Ruby's. They all need the break, relaxation, the fun of sightseeing and camping but of course that doesn't happen. I don't want to give the story away and will just say Julia discovers a major mystery in the first camp ground they stop in and no one believes her. They do soon though and the action takes off. I liked that the ghosts' Elizabeth and Chloe go along for the ride and thank goodness they do. There are some great comical scenes along with the great mystery/adventure. This series is so well written and imaginative. Just love it. Sad that we have to wait a year or more for the next one but it sounds like Lynn has a very busy life so that's what we readers do.
I was glad to see she is working on another Giorgio Salvatori mystery but wasn't thrilled about the vampirism. Got tired of them years ago.
I'm an unlimited reader but I will be buying this book also to keep in my kindle library. Thanks Lynn for a very good entertaining story!

Lynn does it again. I love this series. Lynn has an easy and engaging style that equals the masters of the mystery genre. Her characters are mature and real, and the adventures keep you involved. They end too soon. Now we all have to wait until Julia and the gang embark on another typical Mercer Island day! Great read Lynn!

I totally enjoyed this story. At first, I groaned when it introduced paranormal features (2 house ghosts, and the main character can talk to her deceased mother on the phone) which I normally don’t read and often mean the mystery will be gimmicky. But, I stuck with the story and it turned into a swashbuckling RV ride from Washington state to Chicago.

It’s very well-written. I loved the twists and turns this story took. I liked the age (in their sixties) of the key characters. Plus, I found the ladies reminded me a lot of nearly all the sixty-ish women in my family: in good health, adventurous, fun, creative, and smart.

There is no graphic sex, violence, or eff word in this story.

This is the first book I’ve read in the series. It’s a stand-alone story.

Side note: Pg 256 - “Encontrar algo a la vez para arriba.” That sentence makes no sense to me in Spanish or English.

I really enjoy the Old Maids series, as well as all of Lynn’s books. These women leave me in stitches with their antics. They are really creative. Loved the part when Pony Tails body fell out and they tried to stuff it back into the motor home compartment. Also the part when they were emptying the holding tanks. Can’t wait for the next book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don’t be put off by the prologue!

I thoroughly enjoyed this fourth instalment of the Old Maids of Mercer Island. I was confused by the prologue though and wondered all while I was reading the book what the connection was with Julia and her friends. All was revealed however in a style typical of the adventures of these feisty 'old maids' of Mercer Island.
