Once Upon a Christmas House (Peppermint Hollow Book 1) Kindle Edition
Emory has had a crush on his older brother’s best friend for years. When the chance to help Ivy possibly win a reality game comes along, Emory doesn’t hesitate. After all, that’s what friends are for.
The two men have known each other forever, but living together and pretending to be a couple means getting to know each other on a whole new level. Can they convince the viewing audience their fake relationship deserves to win the grand prize? Or will Ivy and Emory get swept up in the holiday magic and find themselves falling in love for real?
Once Upon a Christmas House is a steamy, forced-proximity, fake relationship, M/M Christmas romance between a grumpy Scrooge and his best friend’s cheery little brother.

About the author

Escape into addictive, sexy, emotional M/M romance.
A.D. Ellis is an Indiana girl, born and raised. She spends much of her time in central Indiana as an instructional coach/teacher in the inner city of Indianapolis, being a mom to two amazing teens, and wondering how she and her husband of over two decades haven't driven each other insane yet. A lot of her time is also devoted to phone call avoidance and her hatred of cooking.
She loves chocolate, hot tea, sweet wine with friends, pizza, and naps along with reading and writing romance. These loves don’t leave much time for housework, much to the chagrin of her husband. Who would pick cleaning the house over a nap or a good book? She uses any extra time to increase her fluency in sarcasm.
A.D. uses she/they pronouns.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2024Ivy and Emory have issues. They need to work through those issues for either of them to be happy. They also need to pull their heads out of their as$es and realize that each other are exactly what they both need.
A wonderfully written romance that I enjoyed immensely and just might read again as Christmas approaches this year. I’m such a sucker for a good romance!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2023Christmas magic is in the air. I absolutely loved this sweet holiday story. Ivy entered a reality TV show competition with his best friend Trevor so he could hopefully win the prize money to expand his shop and fix up his house. But days before the cameras start to roll, Trevor got hurt. His little brother Emory volunteered to help Ivy out, and if he can grow a little closer to his long time crush by living with him for eight weeks, what's the worst that could happen. Emory is adorably sweet, you can't help falling in love with him. I loved his Christmas spirit. Ivy knows in his grumpy heart that he will never fall in love and the whole Christmas season is the worst. Can an eight week TV competition be enough time to thaw his frozen heart? There were so many magical moments throughout this story. I enjoyed the TV show competition aspects and the challenges each couple had to do were fun. A wonderful Christmas story that I will absolutely read again every winter.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2024My first read from this author and I really enjoyed it, even when it almost made me cry 😢
The best part was not leaving Ivy’s issues unexplained. I don’t understand how you can write a book based on someone not wanting a relationship or thinking they were unworthy etc., but never giving a reason why. I almost wish there was a resolution with Ivy’s brother, but I think the book was okay without it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2025This is a wonderful story of a man getting the man of his dreams. The man that he fell in love with when he was a teen, his first crush, his brother's best friend and the one he thought was straight.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute as expected
Cute Christmas Magic read with best friends brother romance!
Emory and Ivy (My brain kept singing Ebony and Ivory) are cute but Ivy is totally clueless and the fake relationship definitely opens his eyes!

5.0 out of 5 stars once Upon A Christmas House.
When Ivyerson Greggory and Emory Bell, Ivy & Bell agree to fake a relationship for the chance to win $500,000 in a reality show they have no idea just what they’re letting themselves in for.
Ivy is a grumpy Christmas hating supposedly straight guy and Em is a cute nerdy gay guy who’s totally into the whole Christmas Magic.
Add in a mysterious Snow Globe that contains the a replica of the very house, known locally as The Christmas House, which Ivy has bought that seemingly alters as changes are made to the real house, mistletoe that keeps appearing despite Ivy’s best efforts at removing it and Trevor Emory’s older brother and Ivy’s best friend since kindergarten and you have the ingredients for a sweet and sexy tale.
A. D. Ellis has written a convincing friends to lovers story that I could totally accept. I’ve always been a bit dubious of the friends to lovers trope which is ironic considering that my husband of eight years and my partner for twenty six started out as friends. This story was so well written that it is believable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reality TV show and Christmas Magical Romance
This book is everything I love about Christmas rom coms with extra fun.
Ivy bought The Christmas House as a fixer upper despite not believing in the rumoured Christmas Magic of the building.
He's due to start on a reality TV show but his partner in bluffing and best friend Trevor breaks his leg.
Trevor's little brother - Emory ages twenty three - offers to take his place on the show and to fake date Ivy.
The show starts, and from friends to fake lovers to real lovers, the chemistry between the men is off the charts, and did Ivy it's bi-awakening time.
It has all the quirk and fun challenges of a reality show along with seasonal sweetness, laughter and emotional secret reveals.
Add in the literal hints of magic zipping through the story to the HEA, and this is a solidly built story with a great foundation.
