The Omega's Surprise Baby (Oceanport Omegas Book 3) Kindle Edition
Music has always been the first love of singer-songwriter Kade Ashton. And it was that love that gave him the strength to defy his family and the cult they belonged to, running away from his arranged marriage to make a life for himself amongst the spotlights. He’s living his dream, until a media scandal derails his career and leaves him hiding from the very public he used to seek out.
But his dream is still alive, and to get his career back on track, he’ll take any job that gets him in front of an audience and helps him pay his bills. Even if it means performing at a wedding in that worst of all terrible places—a small town.
After his husband’s death, Shane is convinced he’s had his one chance at love and that part of his life is over. He has his kids, and they’re enough to keep a single dad on his toes—there’s no time or room for dating. Until he’s asked to host the singer for his cousin’s wedding. First, the sexy omega’s music draws him in, then he meets the omega himself. And he realizes that, maybe, love isn’t just a one-time thing.
Still, their one night together was supposed to be just that, until a positive pregnancy test brings them back together. Can they find a harmonious middle ground between small-town father and big-city star, or are they doomed to lives that are out of tune with their hearts?

- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2017This was a very interesting addition to the series Oceanport Omegas. If you enjoy reading about Omegas, weddings, parenthood, and mpreg you will really like this story. The author goes into how it feels to be an Omega and what they are forced to endure. The lack of expectations for them beyond marrying, having babies, caring for their families, and being obedient to their Alpha. At least in conservative societies such as the group/cult that Kade was raised in and escaped from called the Vinists. A group that is threaded throughout the book and not portrayed in a positive light.
Even in more progressive communities there are families, groups, parents whose beliefs were just as repressive as the Vinists. What was very interesting in this nonshifter tale was the storyline about when approximately ten year old young boys present as Alphas or Omegas. What it meant. How others reacted. How the child reacts as well as his parent(s). How do the families deal with it? The school system?
The two main characters have an instant mutual attraction. This wouldn't be so bad if Omega musician Kade didn't live Los Angeles and father & mechanic Alpha Shane lives in Oceanport, Maine. Completely opposite ends of the country. A wedding brings them together, but their living arrangements soon separate them once again.
This story has so many unexpected reveals. I enjoyed it thoroughly. These two deserving men find the happiness that had been eluding them over the past few years. Years full of grief, betrayal, scandal, loneliness, and misery. New life created in passion, but brought into the world anticipated by parents & siblings full of love and hope.
And this is review #1000 for me on Amazon😃😃😃!
I couldn't have chosen a better book for that milestone.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2017There are several tribulations for the pair but nothing gigantically dramatic. There were also lots of characters who I didn't know but I guess they were from previous books - but this didn't really matter and I just ignored them if they weren't relevant to this particular story
The writing flowed well, the dialogue seemed natural. The 'family' atmosphere was lovely.
Like another reviewer, the word "pretty" grated when the story described the omega; it was used so many times. Maybe "gentle" or some other such word would have been better.
I probably sound as if I'm whining, but it's only tiddly whining. It's still a solid four star story.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2017I don't know why I didn't realize before this series takes place on the coast of Maine but this book certainly helped me realize that. We moved to Maine in 1978 and lived there for 32 years and they were the best years of my life so maybe I was predisposed to like the book, LOL. Seriously though, the depth of information and character development in this book was so great that I was sometimes tired when I stopped reading for the day. Thank you, AKB, for the detail you included all the way through about the Vinists, the recording industry and even small town living. If someone needs to read this book alone without reading the first two, I think they probably could because it is all new characters, but it would be so much better if you read the others first. Besides, they are rewarding to read also.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2017This was a great addition to the Oceanport series! I liked that this book shook things up a bit by introducing a new, famous character to what has so far mostly been a series about hometown drama. I was happy to see Shane get a happy story after all the tragedy he'd gone through. It was also good to meet Kade and learn his story which was fascinating! Both men had suffered a great deal, in very different ways, and it was good to see that they could relate to each other and talk about their pasts. Their relationship grew naturally and the chemistry, as you'd expect from this series, was great.
My only problems were with the end. Some details were resolved too quickly and conveniently for me (the business with Kade's ex and his career). I can't give details without spoilers, they just felt a touch rushed though I can see why they were resolved the way they were.
This is a series I highly recommend, and this book as well!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2017I truly enjoyed this book. It was one of my favorites so far. I loved the MCs, the way the relationship developed and the kids! God! How I love Connor! I wish for the best with that little family and are looking forward for the rest of the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2022I love , LOVE, th Mercy Hills Pack series. When I read book 1 of the Oceanport Omegas series I was not really impressed. Because of the interesting secondary characters I wanted to know what happened to them. Book 2 and book 3 are very good.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2018I adore every one of Ms. Byrd's books and this series is one of my favorites! I'm a sap for happy endings with a bit of angst thrown in here and there.
I love the way this author crafts her tales, theyre both practical and believable (I mean we are talking about fiction here but even these worlds follow rules). I look forward to all future stories!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2018This is one of the best alpha/omega books I've read. The emphasis is on the characters and how unfortunate it is when any group is marginalized. A wonderful message wrapped in a beautiful romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Released at last.
From a quiet cult life to the bright lights. But it was not all plane sailing. Jealousy from a so called friend nearly ruins his life. True love and a baby bring him joy and happiness. Another good read again.
