    This short novella gives us a more in depth look at Jakob and Harper’s relationship. We’ve seen a lot of Jakob and Harper in the previous Assassins books, but this time we get more of their story.

    From the moment Jakob Titov laid eyes on Harper Allen he knew she was the one. Harper had a different idea of how things would play out. She’s been hurt before, so she is more of a love them and leave them type of girl now. Jakob is determined to prove to her that not all guys are terrible. He wants to be her forever guy and once he convinces her the rest is history. For twenty years, they’ve been living their best lives, but when their daughter comes home ready to throw it all away for a boy, the two revisit their past and show Allison the ups and downs of their relationship. Through love and loss Jakob and Harper fall more in love with each other, showing Ally that while it wasn’t easy, it’s turned out just how they wanted.

    I have been waiting/needing/begging for Jakob and Harper’s story since I first got hooked on Toni Aleo. And let me tell you, this may be a novella but it packs the punch of a full length novel. I absolutely LOVED getting to see more of Jakob and Harper and to see how Jakob won Harper over. To read about the things they’ve gone through and the losses they’ve suffered that only made them stronger in the end was heartbreakingly beautiful. I didn’t even get past the first chapter and I was in tears because of how much I love these characters. Every single Toni Aleo book gives me all the feels. She is truly amazing, and this book was an absolutely great addition to the Assassins series, and got me super pumped for the next book!!

    Jakob and Harper’s story is amazing and completely relatable. All of us want to think that our parents met and poof...happily ever after. When, in fact, dating, loving, and lasting marriage all take a great deal of strength and work. This book has proof of this in spades. We’d always gotten snippets of Jakob and Harper in other books over the years, but their story and the reasons for telling it are a perfect match. This book left me hoping to read more about them in future Toni Aleo books. She has a way of pulling you into her writing and making it feel as if you could hop into the pages as a part of it. We already knew Jakob was the romantic, but his character is so thoughtful and wise in his words and actions. And, he was so calm....a characteristic this reader shares with Harper! This book should be a required read for people recovering from broken hearts, because it will make you believe again AND it reminds you true love isn’t easy but it is worth the time and effort.

    This was the story about how Harper and Jakob Titov fell in love and some snippets from various points in their marriage. We've seen them in the background of several of the Assassins books and I was looking forward to seeing how their story developed. The book is focused on their story because of their daughter's own relationship which isn't the best with her boyfriend.
    I really enjoyed seeing Jakob's point of view and thoughts throughout this. The ultimate resolve was great and expected but it was so sweet how Jakob and his daughter connected at the end.
    I was disappointed with the characterization of the daughter's boyfriend and his name. I get he had to be undesirable to move the plot along, but it was hard to believe that he was worth fighting for with the name choice he had been given.

    This book brought me back to one of my favorite stories and gave me perspectives from supporting characters whom I fell in love with the first time I read Toni's magical words. It was so gratifying to hear Harper and Jakob's points of view from their whirl wind romance and even some of their thoughts on Elli and Shea. Getting a glimpse into Harper’s past answered open ended questions I have had lingering in my mind. Toni seems to always knows what I need in her stories and she always delivers! The way this story unfolds is like unwrapping an early Christmas gift, the farther I got into it the more excited I was and the end was just oh so satisfying. The love showcased in good and bad times show the reality of a good marriage, hard work and supporting each other. I love revisiting the “original” Assassins stories and I have one more book to add to the rotation.
    I adored how this story opened up possibilities for Ally within Nashville and the inner thoughts of Jakob about her boyfriend are hilarious. I was pretty excited to meet Chalupa and Burrito! I cannot wait to see what comes next for the Titov family!

    I have been waiting for the story of Harper and Jakob for YEARS! And YEARS! It was well worth the wait! We only saw snippets of the relationship between these two crazy kids as ancillary characters in other Assassins novels, but their love story deserved its own adventure. Jakob is just as I imagined him, completely lovely and totally overwhelming. Harper is full of sass and flare and once she finally let’s herself love - magic happens. Seeing the other side of Elli and Shea’s story, the side of their best friends, was a fun way to revisit the novel that first made me fall in love with the Assassins and Toni Aleo.

    The Author didn’t start the story at the beginning, but started the story 20 years later, after life’s ups and downs and taken this couple on a roller coaster and back again. She showed the couple’s daughter (who I imagine will get her own story soon) that sometimes the happy times overshadow the bad, but that does not mean the bad times do not exist, it just means the happy times shine brighter in our memories. Never settle for something, or someone, less than extraordinary. Harper and Jakob didn’t!

    This novella featuring original Assassins couple Jakob and Harper,was one that I was really excited to read,having been a fan of the series from the beginning,what I loved about this was the step back in time to see just how their relationship developed,as the blurb states Harper was not for getting serious,just wanted some fun,but Jakob knew from their first meeting it would be more!
    Told in DUAL POV's,it was funny,alongside the H.O.T. stuff,there's also some emotional moments,and to see the friendship(s) of Harper and Elli and Shea and Jakob also added to my enjoyment,along with the relationships with the kids,not saying too much more so not to spoil it.
    I also loved how it sets up nicely for the next generation story,and I am looking forward to that too.

    For those of you that have followed the Assassins series from the beginning. You will all agree we have been wondering and praying for Jakob’s and Harper’s story. I had such high expectations for this book and I was not disappointed.

    Harper does not make it easy for poor Jakob. The love these two characters have for one another is real and true. It’s not all unicorns and rainbows but no true love story ever is. Everyone deserves to find there Jakob.

    I hope you all enjoy this series as much as I do. It just keeps getting better and better. Don’t forget to check out the other books by T Aleo you will not be disappointed.
