Onyx Sanctuary: The Chronicles of a Toy Monster Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 187 ratings

What do a fake client, an attempted abduction, and a decade of secrets have in common?

Apparently everything.

I don’t remember the shadow realm, but the land recognizes me as someone it once knew.

The lost heir, worshipped and adored… She’s painted on the sides of buildings like some demonic vigilante waiting to accost you in the nearest alleyway.

What I don’t know is that she is me.

Badass bounty hunter.

Mostly fearless.

Pint-size terror.

Full-size train wreck.

I’m surrounded by an onyx cloak; from the demons I befriended in my sanctuary to the creatures I grew up with inside the castle walls. Now, even the strangers who desperately need me bring a cloud of darkness to aid in my fight.

The men in my life are spine-chilling monsters, but I might be the worst one of all.

Great series opener, totally ready for more!

Great series opener, totally ready for more!
I really liked Onyx Sanctuary- Onyx is a fun, bada$$, fmc that I was rooting for from the get-go. I can’t imagine learning about a whole different past life, as well as finding out you’re the future of a whole dimension. Plus, add on (super sexy, monstrous) fate mates! Well, maybe that last bit I could handle. There’s a lot of world building and information sharing in this first book, but it fits without feeling too overwhelming. The reader is learning a lot just as Onyx is too. I’m very much looking forward to the next installment and absolutely NEED the cliffy from the epilogue addressed, ASAP!

This was one amazing story. It has so much going on during it. There were times that it had me laughing so hard. I loved Onyx and her sassy self. She is definitely one strong, feisty, and fearless FMC. The guys add to the story by such amazing and different personalities. I have to say as a side character Novak was my favorite with his questions and comments. There were others of course that were side characters that were also amazing. The humor and action throughout this story was superb. The story is extremely well written and developed. It definitely pulls you in and doesn’t let go. The ending was a major cliffhanger and I absolutely can’t wait to see what happens next.

Onyx is a bounty hunter who finds herself kidnapped and taken to the shadow realm. Pieces of her memories that were forgotten are now coming back and she's learning she's the rightful ruler of the realm. But with a imposter of a king sitting on the throne, she may have a harder time taking it back than she anticipated.

I liked Onyx and her attitude toward just about everything. Her relationships with her mates are interesting to say the least and she really does bring fun to the story. I loved Zolren the best out of her mates, just because he's a little on the crazy side and who doesn't love a crazy mate?

The actual story had its moments where it lacked in intrigue. There's a lot of inner monologue from the characters, and minimal action at times, so the story did drag at points.

Onyx is a bounty hunter that definitely enjoys life to the fullest. Though a kidnapping was not on her docket. She finds herself the target of a false King and let's not forget about some mates. I really enjoyed her mates she even has one that likes to stop for a snack mid fight 😂 I always love seeing the friends between the mates and there was plenty of that in this book.

If you read the Solane King Chronicles that you will be happy to know that we see some familiar faces in this book. Overall rating a 3.5. I feel like the story lagged in certain places which made the story drag.

MF Adele and her husband TL Adele have gone ahead and created another amazing series that I feel will be an honest meld of so many tropes. Falling in love with Onyx and her sass and snark was easy as 123, her men you will either love/hate or in my case..both!! The mix and crossovers from the Sloane King universe makes this an epic love story between the authors and readers that looks to be just as good.

Far too much going on with not enough physical descriptions of any of the characters. I don’t know how I’m meant to picture them having sex when I don’t know anything besides their hair color. Far too many names to keep track of with not enough differentiating them
Good idea but far too much happening

I love Costa and her monsters but I didn't see that ending coming. I would recommend reading Sloane's books first though.

I am a fan of the Sloane King Chronicles, and i really expected more from this book.
The base of the storyline is good, but it is poorly written.
Reading it, it felt like not much was happening while also going too fast. Character descriptions and introductions are minimal, and i had the impression that i had started a series on the second book by mistake.
There are also several writing error, with the wrong words used, as if the book had been published without proofreading. Being fluent but not a native English speaker, this wad especially confusing at times.
Lastly, i advise to read the Sloane King books beforehand, as this is pretty much a spin-off, and would be, IMO, even less enjoyable without knowing the backstory.
