When pharmacy manager, Aaron Lark, known to his best friends as Ace, is dumped by his latest boyfriend, he decides to step back from the dating scene. What he doesn't expect is for the blue-eyed pharmacist, Darren Goldman, to step into, and rock, his world. Bonding over beer, brownies, and baseball, Ace and Darren play a game where hopefully both end up crossing home plate as winners.

An avid reader and colorful dreamer, it was only a matter of time before taking pen to paper, literally. Notebooks are filling. She sings under her breath, off tune, taps her toes and swings her hips, much to the delight of her family, coworkers and friends. A firm believer in every song tells a story and every story has a song, each story she writes has a song or theme, oftentimes both, behind it. She freely admits that becoming a romance author is the best mid-life crisis a girl could ever have. So there.

I was anxious to read this story as I am a native of the South Jersey Shore and wanted to see how the region was incorporated into the story. Alas, there was nothing recognizable in the story. I couldn't even guess where it takes place. Apart from the name of the series, it could have taken place anywhere. South Jersey is Phillies country, not Red Sox. Also, other than the title and the chapter headers, this is not a sports romance. My other issue was that the dialogue ranged on a scale from boring to cheesy and back again. Overall, I was very disappointed by the story.

This is cute start to this series. Aaron and Darren hit it off almost immediately and things just get better and better. I can't wait to get the next stories to see how things go for them.

Opening Day was a quick, easy read in the MM romance genre about two baseball lovers making the most out of the first game of the season. Fun and orgasms were had by all. LOL!

Short stories in general are a hard sell for me because of their very nature...they're short. When telling a story about two people who don't know each other, that means the storyline has to move very quickly and sometimes things are rushed, which is the case for Opening Day. I would have preferred things to move at a little slower pace, but then it wouldn't be a short story.

Regardless of the rush, there's still a lot of fun to be had in this tale of two sexy men connecting over a love of the game. *wink wink* The writing is solid and the characters are interesting and have a lot more to share...in the next story, coming soon.

Opening Day is the first book in the Southern Jersey Shores serie by Alexis Woods. It's a cute start to Aaron *Ace* and Darren's story. I liked it and really like to continue their story.

Aaron’s boyfriend just broke up with him and he has decided to take a break from dating since he seems to keep picking the wrong guys. The next day Darren is called to fill in for the pharmacist at his store and he is instantly attracted to him. Aaron and Darren get together for dinner that night to get to know each other. They end up spending the next evening together also, with explosive results. This was a very enjoyable short story.

I received a copy of this book and am giving an honest review

Ace meets Darren at work when Darren is filling in at the pharmacy. Ace is immediately taken with Darren's stunning blue eyes but is hesitant to act on his attraction. He's been in and out of relationships for the past couple of years that never seem to work out, and his last breakup was very recent. Darren has just moved to the area after relocating with his ex. Ace has a strong support system with his two best friends who only want what's best for him and encourage him not to rush into a new relationship. Ace can't resist the pull Darren has on him though, and they hit it off from the very first date. Date two on Opening Day is seriously hot and leaves you rooting for Ace and Darren to explore their potential relationship. Is this the start of something real, or are Ace and Darren just looking for any kind of connection after their recent breakups? The story ends on a HFN and I'm going right into the next book in the series, Evading Exodus, to see if Ace and Darren can make their budding relationship a lasting one.
