Our Moon (JACT 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 154 ratings

Ally Monroe can’t remember her name, let alone the last eighteen years of her life. A car accident erased everything, leaving her in a year-long coma, a severe case of amnesia and the reality that her parents didn’t survive. Released from her long-term care facility to her twin brother, Alex, and her older brother, Trevor, Ally tries to piece together what she can.

While trying to live her life again, Chase Baker stirs feelings within her, making him hard to resist. Guitarist for her brothers’ band, JACT, Chase ignites a fire she’s not sure she can contain. With mysteries of her past looming in the back of her mind, threatening to destroy anything she tries to build with him, Ally needs to decide to unravel the past or live for the future.

Do Ally and Chase have a chance? Or are there secrets in Ally’s past that may ruin any hope for them?

Our Moon is the first book in the JACT series. Each book has a different level of steam, and each can be read as a standalone, however it is recommended they are read in order.

For a new author let me start by saying she writes like a seasoned author. "Our Moon" flowed, with developed characters and descriptive writing. She easily keeps the reader engrossed in the story.
I will try to review without being a spoiler.
This book centers around a young girl, Ally Monroe, who has her life completely ripped from her but in a way she is not aware of it.... she has amnesia. After a horrible accident she ended up in a coma while her brothers (Trevor and Alex) are left devastated, and one of them is her twin. They grieve the loss of their parents all the while holding their breath waiting for Ally to wake up. A year later she does, but has no idea who they are or who she is and learns to cope... she finally returns to their home and has to relearn who she is and hoping that she remembers who she was. Not only does she have the support of her brothers but also her "other brothers" who are members of the band the boys started.
The band members Joey and Chase, have always been there and were considered family by Monroes. A lot has happened while she was "away" The band got a record deal and even toured (while being able to return if she woke).
But even though she doesn't remember who she was will it still come back to her naturally? If you are so completely in love before can that love with that person return? If it's meant to be can someone find their way back? Will it happened naturally because it was ALWAYS supposed to be? If you were naturally gifted with something will that come back?
These are the questions you find yourself asking, and are slowly revealed. The author Jennifer L. Allen keeps you glued to the book, and invested in each character. I read it in one day, sacrificing sleep because I couldn't put it down.
"Our Moon" will makes you giggle, feel sad and believe in true love.... you will swoon too. Thank you Jennifer for sharing your hidden talent of story telling, I hope you have another story dying to be let free!!

This story seemed to move rather quickly but I didn't feel like the pacing was rushed. I liked the dual POV breakdown with the switch coming at the exact time I was dying to know his thoughts. I will admit that when I flipped to the next chapter and saw epilogue I was shocked. Very confused why most of the epilogue wasn't an additional chapter instead of an epilogue. Almost ruined it for me but I'd been enjoying the story too much for it to impact my overall view if the book.

The chemistry was excellent, the family dynamics were immaculate and the story was believable. An excellent quick read, I'd love some more spice but the chemistry had enough sizzle to overcome the lack. I did spend a lot of the novel flipping from love to hate with the 'baby girl' nickname.

But all in all, I do recommend this book if you love a sweet, charming, intriguing albeit predictable love story.

**I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review**

Kudos to Jennifer L. Allen for creating an amazing story that can and will appeal to such a wide range of audience.

I immediately fell in love with all the characters. They each stood out in a unique way that drew me in. Their relationships, the banter, the playfulness, the family bond. I think many people will relate to the characters and their relationships.

This story has two parts. I definitely loved reading Ally's POV first. I feel like I was able to appreciate and feel the emotion more in Chase's story knowing the aftermath ahead of time.
If I'm being honest, Chase's story pulled at my heart strings and had me crying. Even though I knew what to expect, I was still on edge bc I didn't know the details or what the reactions would be.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book, it flowed nicely, and kept me interested from start to finish. I read it in one day, that is how much I loved it. I'm very excited about this author and cant wait to see what she releases next!

The story is not bad, I've been interested in amnesia goir a while so that's why I bought this book. And of course because I'm quiite fond of the whole borther's best friend thing.
The first thing I noticed, the narration was design for the reader to feel everything is happening right now at this moment. Everything is in present time. I just couldn't get into it tho. It was weird.
The structure is also weird and left me confused for a few times. The first half of the book is present time, Ally's POV, when Ally wakes up and goes home. And the second half is in the past, in Chase's POV, and takes place in the past when things start to happen. And the end of the book (about 10%) is either Ally or Chase talking. It's not a really good setting because I forgot what happened in the first half of the book by the time I finished the second part.
Chase kept calling Ally baby girl in every fcng sentence and this is something that makes me mad every time I encounter with it in a book. It's like the author wants to freaking wash my mind to think they are so in love they always have to say each other's sweet and cute nickname. It's infuriating since I would go mad if someone called me by my name or nickname in every damn sentence of his. Reality-check authors, please!
The story is not bad tho, just a little unrealistic.

I loved this book. It is a sweet rockstar romance dealing with a very tough situation. My favourite part was getting Chase's point of view. Good Job, Jennifer L. Allen!
