POSSESSION Kindle Edition
I became his possession.
Something to own.
Something to keep.
An object intended only for his desire, his pleasure, and his ... indulgence.
Although promised to this man, I at least remained safe ... untouched ... pure. I was to be his and his alone.
On my eighteenth birthday, the second transaction took place.
I escaped...
But he came for me.
Now, I'm his. He owns my body and my soul.
And, as if all of that wasn't enough, he wants to own my heart too.
I’m trying to resist him—trying to fight that irresistible monster inside of him. But, as with everything else in my life, nothing is ever that easy.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2023This was a hard read for me. I dove in without knowing much more than it's an arranged marriage with many readers citing trouble with content featuring gr00ming and r@p3. I like dark romance so I wanted to read and see for myself what I thought about the characters and the story. I admit that I almost stopped reading because the heroine, Evelyn, is r@p3d multiple times by the (anti)hero and by his enemies. It is brutal. I admit I had to skip/ skim a few paragraphs/ pages. I kept reading because I had read another book by this author which helped me to extend some trust in her storytelling and I wanted to see if she could turn it around. With many dark romances we do begin the story disliking the male main character for his actions. Then as we continue through the story we learn what makes him the way he is and/ or see him redeem himself. That's why I continued to read - to see if the author could bring us to the HEA.
When Evelyn Montgomery was a child her parents either neglected her or paraded her in front of older men who made Evelyn feel uncomfortable. Even so Evelyn remained untouched, innocent, and sweet in nature.
Drake Salvatore was one of the men who came to meet Evelyn. Her innocence called to him, but Drake arranged a contract with her parents in which they would immediately receive half of the negotiated price of Evelyn who would remain living with her parents until the age of eighteen. She would be under Drake's protection and he would pay for anything she could need or want while she lived with her parents. On her eighteenth birthday and after making the final payment to her parents, Drake would take possession and control of Evelyn.
For me, I'm glad I read Possession. I enjoyed some of it. I had more trouble with some scenes than I had anticipated, but by the end I was okay with the outcome and would say it has an HEA.
There are graphic scenes of the heroine being r@p3d by the (anti)Hero and his enemies in Possession. There are also consensual s3x scenes. If you have any triggers, you should tread carefully and read the warnings.

However, after her 18th birthday the book felt a bit disjointed. There was just too much going on and not really enough focus. It's got a lot of non-con sex by James ...it's also very abusive.. Ok I could have went with that but it seemed to then becomes something totally different with another man and another group of men..spoiler alert** she becomes a sex slave with a man from James past? It really didn't fit..Then there's the rejoining of him with Evelyn and I really really didn't like the ending.. ( three years later) in fact it left me quite angry and I threw my hands in the air thinking he's a real freak and she's just in la la land...it would have been much better if the whole sex slave kidnapping was left out because it was way too rushed and if he actually meant what he did and changed maybe not totally but at least evolved. He actually was just a sick man that groomed a 12 year old girl.. and got away with it...too bad it had potential.. However the writing was done well no awful errors that made me cringe writing wise..

- Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2019Sorry but NO!
I couldn’t even finish it. And No I’m not a Prune.
I have read other books about the FL falling for their Kidnappers, StockHolm Syndrome.
But this girl mentioned that the ML raped her and the moment she saw him she said she felt the need to jump his bones. Why don’t author at least take the time to show the development of how hate turns into Love. I’m pretty sure StockHolm Syndrome doesn’t work that way.
Yes this ML in a way was her savior, he was nice to her when she was younger.
And In what right mind thinks a ML who said he has been waiting years to have sex with a 18 year old is sexy; add, subtract doesn’t that make him a pedophile? Not just because he waited for her to turn 18 means he didn’t have desire to do things to her even when she was younger.
And I have read a lot of age gap books, with variation of ages but this type of trope is hard to swallow. Like I said I read other books that show development on how hate turn to love, with ML (kidnappers) who don’t jump at the FL lead the moment they see them.
Maybe I don’t lose hope that I will find this type trope that’s going to be more then sex and desire, and yes there’s a few out there.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2025I truly love love love a toxic mmc. I wanted to love this so much but it fell short in a few too many ways for me. The wording used in the beginning of the book gave me the ick, for lack of better terms. At first, I was thinking it took place in the 70’s until Facebook was mentioned. Winding up windows? The spiked hair? Gross. That hasn’t been a look since 2000 and it wasn’t a good one. I actually love a little abuse storyline but this fmc TOOK ME OUT. If someone r**** you multiple times, you don’t just stew over them and dream about them nonstop. It was a little to Stockholm syndrome for me. Had the FMC been a little more realistic and had the mmc not been such a GROOMER, this would have been a fantastic read. This story had SO much potential to be AMAZING but the corny wording and the fmc’s insecure desperation vibes tanked this book. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because that’s how much I wanted to like it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Between 2 and 3 stars
I hate to review book that I didn't like much. But I must be true to myself.
I realized it wasn't what I expected from the beginning, right after the prologue.
It wasn't all bad to me. Some parts I was eager to read, other not so much. Other bored me to tears.
The big problem was that I didn't like both the main characters, and there were no secondary characters as a back-up.
The H wasn't the kind of wicked man I like best. The h had multiple personalities I just couldn't sort out. It seemed to me that there has been a failed attempt to give them a shape that remained undefined instead.
Same with explanations at the end.
When explenation time came, it seems to me they were stretched and bent to make them fit the story. But they didn't. They felt farfetched instead.
I was expecting a good dark read, but several things were missing to call it that.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hat Potenzial

Jaimie Roberts is a new to me author. I was immediately hooked from the start, and very much enjoyed her writing style.
Just a note...this takes place in England, where the age of consent is 16. While there are no intimate encounters until18, the MC purchases the FMC as a teenager, and has known her since twelve. Make sure you're okay with this, as it can make for a difficult read at times.
Also, this isn't a fluffy romance. It can be quite dark in places. Personally, I loved it. It had some very raw, gritty parts, but also some pretty ones. There is plenty going on, lots of feelings, and the story never drags.
The only issue I really had is how easily Evelyn dealt with multiple grapes. I think a little more could have been done to address her feelings. Granted, there is no set way for how people "should" feel, or how anyone chooses to get through the experience. But there really seemed to be a noticeable lack of...anything in the aftermath.
Bar that, I very much enjoyed it overall, especially the twist at the end. I'll be checking out the author's other books.
Recommended for the dark romance crowd. Just make sure you're cool with the content warnings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow
This was a crazy but incredible story. I loved the intense chemistry between Drake and Evelyn. Only in books do I fall in love it’s these domineering men. As unstable as he was, Drake was irresistible. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
