- Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2018This was a beautifully written book. As I was reading it I pictured myself being in SA. The descriptions were just perfect of both SA and the characters. It was easy to like the characters.
This book told a story of love lost, tragedy, friendships ever lasting, and love found. Edward was definitely likable for the many things he remembered about Sarah and saving her when she needed saving. I loved that Sarah was able to forgive the horrible things done to her and move forward. I definitely cried, laughed, was mad at times, but at the end I definitely was happy. Such I lovely ended to the book. Such a beautiful read.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2017I will try and keep this review short, but there was sooo much I liked about this book.
I was looking for a new author and something different then my usual books- Mystery and Historical Books and I came upon this find. What caught me from the start was the cover. It was simple but I really liked the look of it. When you read the book, you will see the meaning of this cover more in depth.
It is hard to believe that this is Taryn Leighs first book. The writing was very easy and flowing. I liked that she was very descriptive and I felt like I really got a clear picture of what each character was like.
This story starts off about a girl, Sarah, that leaves London and goes back to her hometown of South Africa. Sarah was basically running away from something that happened in London. It is not something the reader will find out right away, but as each chapter goes on, you are more intrigued on why she really came to South Africa.
In South Africa she comes to stay with a childhood friend, Katy. Katy and Sarah's friendship is immediately right where it left off. In comes Katy 'sbrother, Edward who has always treated Sarah as a sister. Edward is a handsome man who , as the story goes, you can see the real relationship between Saran and him.
The story was so easy to read that I went three hours with out even moving off my seat. You would never know that this was the authors first book. Her writing is well written and I cant wait to see what she has in store for us readers in her next book.
Please give this book a try. I felt happy and very satisfied when I was done reading this book.
It would be a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon

MY REVIEW OF "PERFECT IMPERFECTIONS" by TARYN LEIGH
I appreciate the way Taryn Leigh, author of "Perfect Imperfections" weaves the details of her story. The timeline of this story is mostly in the present with a few past references that pertain to the characters or the storyline. The genres of this story are Fiction or Women's Fiction.
The author describes her characters as complex and complicated. Some characters are mean-spirited. Other characters are capable of betrayal and deceitful acts. There are characters that are supportive and kind as well. Sarah Lewis leaves her home in London, after a major tragedy and betrayal, and goes to restart her life in South Africa. She stays at her best friend's home while she struggles emotionally to put her life together, as well as her business obligations.
Taryn Leigh does a fantastic job in keeping the reader in suspense about what the tragedy and betrayals are. We know that Sarah is keeping secrets from her best friend and brother, who only want to help her. Sarah is emotionally fragile and is having nightmares. She starts to put her business together, and then is called back to London for a family emergency. Sarah finally realizes that she has to go back to the past in order to move on to the present and future.
I really like the way that the author shows us that through adversity there is hope. The author describes having a support system, family, friends and love. The author also shows us good vs. evil, loyalty vs. betrayal, forgiveness and redemption vs. holding grudges and retribution. Taryn Leigh shows us the growth in the characters.
I would recommend this intriguing and emotionally captivating story for readers who enjoy fiction. I look forward to seeing more of these characters, and I do hope that the author writes more about them. I received a copy of this book for my honest review.

Oh why did this book end? I want more of Edward and Sarah! If you are looking for a contemporary book, that takes a hold of your heart, squeezes it for a bit, then lets it feel all the love, then this is it!
The words just seemed to flow, and they were very descriptive, with out too much description, if that makes sense! Such an easy read! The characters are well developed, and some you will love and some you won't, just like real life! I've had a best friend since we were in Kindergarten, and this book had a friendship just like us, it was wonderful!
Just read it!! Please :)
- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2018Perfect Imperfections, a story of love, loss, forgiveness and friendship. Leigh had me hooked from the get go in this book with her eloquent and easiness she has when writing. Her descriptiveness of South Africa has me adding a trip on my never ending travel bucket list.
The character development of Sarah, after she runs from her life in London, to South Africa slowly builds through out the book and by the end you are wrapped up in it, almost as you are watching a movie instead of reading a story. You are dying to know what she ran from but yet are enjoying her journey with her bestie Kath and her brother Edward, both showing what true friendship means!
A perfect way to spend a cloudy Saturday!
Stop and smell the lavender, while you enjoy a wonderful story of an imperfect life!

5.0 out of 5 stars A remarkable, beautifully written debut novel!
Having never visited South Africa but always having wanted to it was a joy to read Taryns descriptions of traditional and modern South Africa. Taryn has a unique writing style that brings the words to life as though you are there. Her writing flows beautifully and several of her descriptions were so detailed that I really felt I was amongst the surroundings and I could imagine and experience the countryside and towns vividly in my mind as they I was right there inside the book.
The characters were relatable and I was intrigued to find out why the main character Sarah had returned to her homeland of South Africa after fleeing London and all her family and friends. The storyline was great and the reason is shocking!
There are some really unique moments in the book that were lovely to read, the gifts, the giraffe as my daughter has one she sleeps with every night too and especially the mug of hot chocolate! Every time I sat down to read, I made one to bring the story even more alive!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Taryn's debut novel. The story of Sarah and how she conquered her fears and deals with her past and future. Taryn writes with a fluidity and describes the locations and scenes wonderfully to give vision to her readers. For a debut novel this good, I will look forward to her succeeding novels and what they will bring too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful story
Absolutely beautiful story from beginning to end.
After leaving her husband Sarah left her life in London to move home to South Africa where she moved in with her best friend Katy. Unexplained why she suddenly upped and left her life behind her friend and her (Katy’s) brother Edward supported her when she needed it most. Sarah starts up her new business and moves into her own place soon after and really starts to begin her new life again. Her mother’s bad health brings sarah back to London briefly before returning to South Africa. We finally find out the reasons behind her move - I’ll admit it moved me to tears (also almost made me late for work). Sarah didn’t think she could love again, perhaps she was wrong.
Loved the book from beginning to end however my only complaint would be the books sudden ending, I would love to have read on. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great debut novel
I really enjoyed reading Perfect Imperfections, which is Taryn Leigh’s debut novel. The story is mainly set in South Africa, a place I long to visit, and the author’s descriptions of the surroundings made me feel as though I was actually there.
This is a story about love, loss, forgiveness and friendship. The characters are genuine and relatable and the story of why the main character, Sarah, had returned to her homeland of South Africa had me intrigued throughout the book. As the story develops we see Sarah conquer her fears and deal with her past and future.
This is a really good debut novel , and I look forward to reading more books by Taryn.
