Perfect Timing (A Small-Town Briarton Romance) Kindle Edition
Charlie moves to small-town Briarton with plans to live his quiet life as a writer. He’s resigned himself to being alone and isn’t expecting anything different from his new home. But a coffee mix-up brings him face-to-face with a man Charlie had decided didn’t really exist.
Nixon is grateful for a new job in a new town. He’s ready to leave the past in the past and settle down. He’s not actively looking for a relationship—that’s never worked out for him before—but he can’t deny the instant connection he has with his newest patient’s nephew.
Is it too late for Charlie and Nix to find their happily ever after? Or will they accept fate’s gift and allow themselves a love they thought they’d never find?
**Perfect Timing is a steamy, M/M romance with an introverted, demisexual writer and a big, soft teddy bear of a nurse trying to navigate a love they’ve always dreamed of but most definitely weren’t expecting.**

About the author

Escape into addictive, sexy, emotional M/M romance.
A.D. Ellis is an Indiana girl, born and raised. She spends much of her time in central Indiana as an instructional coach/teacher in the inner city of Indianapolis, being a mom to two amazing teens, and wondering how she and her husband of over two decades haven't driven each other insane yet. A lot of her time is also devoted to phone call avoidance and her hatred of cooking.
She loves chocolate, hot tea, sweet wine with friends, pizza, and naps along with reading and writing romance. These loves don’t leave much time for housework, much to the chagrin of her husband. Who would pick cleaning the house over a nap or a good book? She uses any extra time to increase her fluency in sarcasm.
A.D. uses she/they pronouns.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2021** spoiler alert ** Charlie has a hard time connecting to people, Nixon is tired of being judged for his looks. Instant chemistry clicks them together. Will Charlie allow him close? Will Nixon get everything he longs for?
I absolutely loved these two! I loved how Nixon was this big teddy bear with a heart that was ginormous. Charlie definitely blossomed as the story went on and I loved seeing him be able to connect to people outside his small circle. Steamy read and can't wait for more from this author!

Perfect Timing is easy to read with very little angst. I needed that.
Charlie and Nix are appealing characters with good chemistry, and the road to their HEA was smooth and simple. I knew they would get together, but the sweetness getting there was lovely to see. I also like that they are not twenty-somethings. I enjoy those books, but I like seeing older couples get together too. The sexy times are well done, and their HEA is satisfying and believable.
The secondary characters are well placed and support the storyline. Uncle Otto is a hoot and kept things interesting. I also enjoyed seeing the guys from the first book in this series, and I like the support the town gives its citizens.
I look forward to more from this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2021This book was great in that it normalized everything, demisexuality, mental health and life! These two men didn't find each other until later but they were definitely meant to be. HEA and I loved the small town setting.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2021I love Nix and Charlie together. Charlie shows a side to people that we never get to see. I love that Charlie knows who he is and finally has learned to accept what he needs to feel whole. He shows the battles that many people go through but are not willing to walk about because they think that no one will understand. Nix is such a easy going and social person but I love that there is a side to him that we people would never see if they did not get to know him. Each of them had to overcome people in their lives expecting them to be someone other than they truly are. I love that they each found the strength to be who they are and not allow themselves to just confirm to who others wanted them to be. Together they make a great couple because their personalities seem to even one another out while their history gives them a understanding of each other. It is almost truly like a ying and yang theory when you look at their relationship.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2021It’s one of those simple stories with uncomplicated themes and a couple of challenging characters to watch as they slowly find their center. Reasonable character development for the length of the story and a simple plot. The one bit of conflict introduced with the grandson Stephen felt unrealistic but it is what it is. The storyline survives, our couple remains together, and the story ends with the anticipated HEA.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2021This second book in the series was a good one. I'm beginning to love same age romances especially when the guys are older. Less drama...no game playing. Charlie and Nix hit it off immediately. They had sooooo much in common right down to same type of pets....amazing. Both were coming to the friendship/relationship wanting the same thing...someone to connect with and love. Charlie being demisexual was explored and it was oh so important that Nix understood and was on board. Nix knew this was his person and was willing to wait for Charlie...so sweet. Everybody was cheering them on. So it was nice to see the characters from the previous book in the story...it's almost like a continuation but not really...just a new couple. Oh and I can't forget Otto...he was a hoot...he's an uncle everybody would want and love. Briarton is a special place and I hope there are more stories/romances coming from there soon.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2021Perfect Timing was such a sweet and fun book! The MC's, Charlie and Nix are both 45 years old and connected immediately over their unique coffee order. Both had given up on finding the perfect someone - Charlie because he was an introverted demi-sexual who had never had a strong romantic connection to another person and Nix because the guys he went out with used him for sex and didn't want to get to know him.
Charlie and Nix had so much in common and both complimented each other perfectly. Nix was so patient and respectful of Charlie and Charlie was exactly what Nix needed in his life. I appreciated the lack of drama in their relationship and liked that they communicated when they had a problem.
The supporting characters helped make this a great story. Charlie's Uncle Otto made me laugh out loud and I loved seeing Morgan and Justin (and Harley and Jo Ellen) from The Perfect Blend. I highly recommend reading The Perfect Blend first. Perfect Timing could be read as a stand alone book, but was more enjoyable after reading The Perfect Blend. (less)
- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2021This is an interesting and romantic story, but it's filled with too much info that is not needed for the storyline, and it's repetitive. When two 45 year old men meet in the small town they just moved to, there's an attraction and an ease between them. Charlie is full anxiety, and shy to boot, and he is still a virgin because of it. Nix is a man who is tired of one night stands, he wants to find someone to settle down with. They hit it off immediately and both want more, but Charlie's issues hold him back. But Nix can live with going slow. I enjoyed the general storyline, and I loved Nix and Otto, but Charlie comes off as immature and flaky. So it's worth reading if you can ignore the repetitiveness and unnecessary words.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
