Its true ... there should be another ten at least. Of course, that means I'll forget to write the review for at least a few of them. Just like I did with Phoenix. I went through my Kindle and am trying to get caught up on reviews. Believe me, it is an all day job, because I try to write what people want to know about a book. I'm an enthusiastic reader, I LOVE all genres, I'll read anything, but I'm hung up on my Top Five, of which Janie Crouch is a part of.

This book is about Girl Riley and Boy Riley. Now when I read about these characters in previous Janie Crouch books, I thought that the whole Boy Girl thing was a little too cutesy, especially for the crowd at Linear. But now, having read Phoenix, it fits them perfectly.

When the book starts, it is nearly heartbreaking because of what Girl Riley is feeling and experiencing. Then of course, you add in the action of Linear, and the emotions of a relationship, shake them all up and let them fall where they may, THEN and only then, do you have a Janie Crouch book.

Good work, Ms. Crouch. But don't think we're going to allow you to take a break. I'll forever know you by my motto for you - She Hits What She Aims At. And with this book, you hit on all cylinders.

Myself not being into adventure racing and sport made this just a bit boring for me. I got past it and enjoyed the Rileys storyline.
I was a tad confused either the epilog, tho. Not sure if it was meant to whet out appetites for the next books but...yeah, confusing.

Boy and Girl Riley have had a loving affair for years. While Boy Riley travels the globe participating in extreme stunts and working undercover with Linear Tactical's Kidnap and Rescue team, his heart belongs with Girl Riley back at home. While they are often apart, they both work hard at maintaining their long-distance relationship, until Girl Riley suddenly breaks it off.

Unable to stay away from the love of his life, Riley is determined to return home and win back his girl. The extreme adventure race happening in town is just the excuse he needs to wheedle his way back into her life. Their physical relationship is as hot as ever, but Girl Riley refuses to allow him back into her life. While competing in the multi-day race and spending as much time with Girl Riley as he can, Boy Riley begins to realize something is terribly wrong - his woman has lost her spark and exhibits fear for the first time since he's known her.

Boy Riley is a determined and loving man - he will do anything to win back Girl Riley. He is patient and supportive of her, even though he doesn't understand what's changed in her life to make her change so drastically. Girl Riley, facing earth-shattering news, struggles as she has to adapt to her new normal. In emotional distress, she pushes everyone away as she tries to reclaim her strength and equilibrium. When danger comes for them, each will remember what is important in life as they battle to survive.

Five stars for this steamy, poignant and action-packed romance.

Girl Riley has been given a life changing diagnosis - MS. She is devastated and makes a decision to cut Boy Riley (Phoenix) out of her life. She doesn’t want to drag him down as her condition deteriorates. But, is this the best decision? As events unfold, decisions will have to be made. Excellent story and series. But, a cliffhanger at the end.

Wow! In this the 8th book of the Linear Tactical series, Janie has written an incredible book (again!). Boy Riley (Phoenix) and Girl Riley (Wildfire) are such an awesome H/h.

Phoenix, an extreme sports sensation and undercover operator for Linear Tactical, and Riley, a nurse, fell in love at a WAR competition set up by the LT guys where Phoenix was competing. They've been a very serious item for three years, but then Riley gets some news that will forever change her life. In dealing with it, she pushes Phoenix away to the point of breaking up with him. Phoenix returns to Oak Creek determined to find out what Riley is hiding from him. His excuse for being there? To compete in WAR.

This book is slightly different than the other Linear Tactical books by focusing a lot on Phoenix and Riley's relationship, but has a nice amount of suspense and action to go with it. It's just an awesome book! This book gave me a definite urge to go back and reread the entire series again. It can definitely be a standalone, but the characters from the previous books are definitely included in this one. Love it!

Disclosure: I received an ARC copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

4.0 out of 5 stars good read but the wrong book for that epilogue

I really have been enjoying reading this series. This book was no exception. My only niggle is the exclusive epilogue. Not sure why this is included with this book as midway through the series and gave major spoilers for the next books in this series. Because I haven’t read the next books yet, I was disappointed for the spoilers and to be honest quite confused with what was happening. My advice would be to read this book but maybe leave the epilogue until the others in the series are read.
This author is however solid for me, not quite a 5* but a really strong 4* and I will continue with both this series as well as checking others she has written.
