Playing For Keeps (Playing For Keeps Book 1) Kindle Edition
If you don't like obsessive stalkers, then Playing For Keeps is not for you.
Living in LA and dating celebrities wasn't what it was cracked up to be. I found out the hard way many had a lifestyle I wanted no part of.
Then David Taylor forced his way into my life. A sledge hammer breaking down my well crafted walls.
He was gorgeous and sexy and intimidating. I was drawn to him in a way I had never been to anyone or anything. And I knew I couldn't have him, I was too damaged, too flawed to really connect.
David saw what I was from the beginning. A broken scared girl locked away inside an aloof woman. And he was determined to free me. To make me his.

Standalone though left open for more books though
Told from Austin's POV (Austin is the female)
Minor editing errors throughout
I wasn't sure what to expect when I bought this book but I had seen snippets of the dialogue on Instagram that really piqued my interest. While I wouldn't say it will win any literary awards I will say it was one of the hottest books I have ever read.
If you like alpha males and instant connections this book is for you. Most of it seems far fetched but again, this isn't the book you buy if you are looking for a deep plot. Though you will find one.
Both characters have been hurt in their pasts leaving them with a plethora of issues from insecurity to possessiveness. Each issue that is revealed brings them closer together. It is like their issues counterbalance each other and just make everything between them feel right.
As mentioned above this is one of the hottest books I have ever read. This book is filled with intimidate scenes from love making to more taboo topics. If you like super hot intimate scenes this will definitely be a book you will enjoy.
I am curious to see what happens next with this couple and this is definitely an author I will keep an eye on though I would suggest a better editor.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2015I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Another reviewer made the point that fans of Jordan Silver would like this book and I agree. Like Jordan Silver's books, this book is a departure from reality (as a great romance novel should be!) so moaning that the h was stupid not to think the H was a stalker is pointless. The H was a bit less alpha than Jordan's H's (who show no vulnerability at all) but he still worked for me. Though the ending of the book came abruptly, it was still an HEA; the way it ended seems to suggest that there will be a part 2 (yay!). My only complaint about this book is the fact that it seriously needed an editor, not for grammatical issues (of which there were a few but not overwhelmingly so), but for the fact that there was an entire section of pages that was repeated (I wondered if I blacked out for a minute and hit the back button on my Kindle). Also, there were several instances of words just totally missing from sentences. I think the author should have reviewed the finished work more thoroughly before publishing it or she should have had someone who was competent do so. In any case, I enjoyed the story and look forward to checking out the next book from this author.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2015if you are a fan of CM Steele and Jordan Silver's work....this book is right up your alley.
Hero- retired baseball player hunk in his early 30s. Uber possessive and jealous alpha male but also very vulnerable where the h is concerned.
Heroine- wannabe actress working as a temp in her 20s. Fairly independent and not a doormat. Does not cave into carnal desires (not always) during or after an argument.
How they meet- at a supermarket. He falls for her at first sight. He manages to lift her phone and programs his number into her phone without her knowing. He later stalks her via phone tracking.
Despite some glaring grammer issues, I found myself enjoying the story. Grant's hero is similar to Steele and Silver's leading men in that he shows an over the top jealous and possessive side towards the heroine, but the similarity ends here. This hero also exhibits more realistic traits such as vulnerability and uncertainty when it comes to the heroine. He is not as over the top that he is always in control as like the other jealous and possessive heroes. I like that. That makes him more human. I like the heroine. She is fairly independent, intelligent and not a doormat.
The story is also a little more grounded. The hero does not have to kill or maim anyone because this person somehow hurt the heroine in the past. There are no mobsters lurking in the background. This story follows two people trying to make it as a couple and overcoming the emotional baggage that they each carry into the relationship.
I would have liked to see the H spend time knowing the h before they moved in together. It would have also been nice to see them physically apart after one of their arguments so they can reflect on the moments they spent together and suffer a little bit. I thought there was too much togetherness in the course of their relationship because they did not spend enough time getting to know each other in the beginning...mentally and not carnally. What was a day or week in the course of their lives without the other? There was also way too much smex in the plot and it overshadowed the story.
The story is told from the h's pov. It would have been nice to include the H's pov.
A recommend. There is a hea, but the author mentions a sequel. I look forward to the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2015This book had be hooked from the start! It grabbed my attention as soon as Austin spotted David. I personally love reading smut, (I mean that in a good way) and this book had A LOT of it. So if you're easily offended, or you don't like a lot of sex scenes, this isn't for you. David was the an ultimate Alpha..his dominance showed and he wasn't afraid to let Austin know how he felt. He was willing to do anything to break her walls down. I couldn't put this book down, I had to know how it ended. It was a quick read, which sometimes is a great quality in a book. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves getting lost in their own little fantasy world, filled with lust, sex, jealousy and love. I can't wait to read what C.J. Grants writes next!! Xoxo

3.0 out of 5 stars Nicht für jede Frau.
Die Geschichte und das Verhalten der Charaktere sind schon grenzwertig. Nicht jede Frau würde mit so einem Mann zusammen sein wollen und ich kann dies völlig verstehen. Ich bin gespannt, wie es weiter geht.

5.0 out of 5 stars Possessive and perfect
This story is written so well, i love the characters and her name "Austin"
He is perfect a little insecure and a lot obsessed.
She is amazing, lost and needing to love and be loved.
Together they spark and sizzle setting the house on fire!
Cant wait to see what happens next.

4.0 out of 5 stars Erotic, steamy as hell, lame on story line
There is no much story in this book. However if you like steamy and very sexy scenes - there you go. Characters could have been more outside in life not only at home. Nevertheless both - hero and heroine are likable. Hero is very alpha and possessive. Heroine is a bit lame.
