A Power Awakened (The Volatar Saga Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 352 ratings

The Great Powers must awaken or all will be lost.

With power restored, and a tenuous balance now formed with his powers, the Volatar's work is not yet done.

The Jahor have suffered considerable losses, but they now have a place to prepare. With strange attacks targeting his people, the Volatar knows it won't be long before the Trilan finds them and destroys the Jahor for good.

Hevith leads his people north. Now a wagon master, he must find the place of safety promised to him, but the safety of the north isn't what he'd been led to believe.

An encounter with the Hith gives Hevith a new target and a new goal. If he fails, not only the people with him will suffer, but all of the Jahor will fall.

This novel still has some of the jumping back-and-forth. It makes me wonder why there wasn’t a novel at the beginning just telling the beginning story and then moving on. I was able to keep up and I am enjoying this series in spite of the jumping back-and-forth. I am off to find the next one - enjoy

As I was reading this, a few of my favorite series ( The Hollows, Dresden Files, Soulwood, The Destroyermen) had new releases and a few of them interrupted my reading of this. The first book was ok and the beginning of this followed suit. However, as the two stories progressed, the excitement and my interest swelled. Now, I have two of those new releases still waiting to be read and I would contemplate delaying them due to my interest in how this story progresses. REALLY looking forward to next book.

The most interesting thing about this story is how the author brings H evie and the Volatar together. The nature of the plot to save the Jahor brings into play even more strange creatures. On to the next book.

This book. Wow. Surprised me at every turn! Made me think about the nature of evil and of how good people fight it by helping and loving others. Worth reading!

It was a little slow at times but there is a lot of information to absorb. I enjoyed the double play on the same character. Looking forward to the next book.

A totally different type of drama from Holmberg this time. A reviting study of the power of mind and magic.. Book1 of the Volatar series introduced us to Hevith and the Volatar. In book 2 we discover more about Hevith & his older self, the Volatar. The power of mind and magic combine in a way that causes me to wonder how in the world the author comes up with the premise, then develops it into such an intricate tale. The concepts strain my brain at times, A very good thing. Lots of twists and turns, enemies becoming allies and characters fleshing out in more ways than one. Very good, riveting storytelling. So now I am on to book 3 to see how the latest twist in the plot unfolds.
