Power Play (Nashville Assassins: Next Generation Book 2) Kindle Edition
Boon Hoenes lives for special teams. The power play is his favorite thing about the game. He loves having that advantage over his opponent. And most of the time, it’s his quick thinking that sends the puck to the back of the goal when he’s on the ice. Off the ice, however, no amount of quick thinking prepared his heart for being dumped by his college sweetheart. Boon has sworn off women, but when Posey Adler comes onto his ice—and kicks him off his beloved power play—he decides she’s one woman he doesn’t want to swear off.
They’ve both been hurt, but instead of going in for the penalty kill, Boon is ready to convince Posey their hearts are the secret to how they’ll win.
How they’ll score the ultimate goal.
A forever kind of love.

My name is Toni aleo and I'm a #PredHead, #sherrio, #potterhead, and part of the #familybusiness!
I am also a wife to my amazing husband, mother of a wrestler and a gymnast, and also a fur momma to Phoebe, Gaston el Papillon & Winston.
You can usually find me hollering for the whole Nashville Predators since I'll never give my heart to one player again. When I'm not in the gym getting swole, I'm usually writing, trying to make my dreams a reality or being a taxi for my kids. I'm obsessed with Harry Potter, Supernatural, Disney and anything that sparkles! I'm pretty sure I was Belle in a past life and if I could be on any show it would be supernatural so I can hunt with Sam and Dean.
Also, could I LOVE hockey anymore?

- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseHockey romance is definitely one of my favorites and the Nashville Assassins series has always been one of my favorites as well. Power Play is a strong addition to this already fantastic series!
Posey Adler has always lived in her older sister Shelli's shadow. She's felt like she's always been the second choice and for once, she wants to be the one that someone chooses for just being her. She takes a chance and lays her heart on the line with a man she was convinced she was in love with, only to be spectacularly rejected. She returns home and ends up going to work as a special teams assistant with the Assassins, where she decides she's going to just focus on work.
Boon Hoenes is a winger for the Assassins who has just had his heart shattered. He thought he had found the woman he was going to spend the rest of his life when, but he's learned she's been cheating on him and their engagement and relationship is over. He decides to focus on hockey and at this point he has no plans to enter into another romantic entanglement of any kind.
As the youngest special teams coach in the league, Posey puts her knowledge and expertise to the test when she starts working with Boon and the other guys on the power play. She finds Boon to be intriguing, but she's convinced that he would never go for a woman like her, especially compared to his former fiancee. Boon is taken by Posey and when he tries to make a move, he thinks she's avoiding him, but in reality, she doesn't realize he's hitting on her because she's never had it happen!
The chemistry between Posey and Boon is off the charts. They are super hot together, but beyond that, the friendship that they build with one another along with the physical part of their relationship, is amazing. They are there for one another, they support one another and they look out for one another. When you talk about wanting to find someone that is your person, Boon and Posey are definitely that for one another!
I enjoyed this book so much and Toni Aleo did a fantastic job with it. Posey and Boon may be my favorite couple that she's ever written. I feel like these characters could be my friends because we get to know them all so well and this love story left me swooning for sure. I can't wait for what's next for us in the world of the Assassins!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book... it was so much of what I expect out of Toni and so much more. She continues to deliver in a way that makes me feel the characters, see myself in them and want to be their best friend. Posey was incredibly relatable to me, feeling like she was simply existing in her family and knowing that although they love her, she doesn't feel like she can live up to the expectations she thinks are on her and probably won't ever be as good as them. I felt that so much, I really enjoyed how this book dissected the Adler family dynamics as well as the relationship with Boon.
Boon, this guy is who dedicates himself to everything and everyone in his life, unfortunately this bites him in the ass when he is hurt by the women he planned to spend the rest of his life with. He doesn't go off the deep end but has shut himself off to the possibility of finding someone to be his forever when he finds himself fiercely attracted to the new coach who seems hellbent on calling him out and torturing him in practice.
Posey put her heart on the line and laid her cards on the table by professing her feelings for someone who threw them back at her as if they weren't worth a second thought. Posey is a bad ass when it comes to strategy and hockey, as the youngest special teams coach she has a lot to prove. While Boon comes to terms with his new feelings he keeps getting turned down. Posey doesn't realize when Boon is making a move because no one cared enough to try with her before now, when she realizes he wants her all bets are off. Their physical attraction moves quickly and is off the charts sexy, but the friendship and support they give each other is couple goals. This book is HOT but it took a turn to what I did not expect and the way they pull for each other and stand up against anything standing in their way makes this a book I haven't stopped thinking about since I turned the last page.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI wish the cover reflected Posey, it looks nothing like she is described. I hate that. I’d rather not have “her” on the cover at all then. I don’t understand why they do that. It’s ridiculous that an actual cover model with her body type can’t be found. We get a supposed “pleasantly plump” (characters words) heroine but not on the cover?
There wasn’t much not to love about Boone or Posey for that matter. Shea is getting ridiculous though, he was in the last book too. I don’t like seeing beloved characters morph into unrecognizable people just because they are aging. And, the hiding the relationship trope is getting old in this family already. I’m hoping this was the last.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Power Play Stars
Format: KindleVerified PurchasePosey and Boon had me from the very first chapter. Power Play is the second book in Toni Aleo's Nashville Assassins: Next Generation Series. Her Assassins series is one of my favourite hockey series so the next generation was a must read for me.
Posey Rose Adler is the daughter of legendary Shea Adler and owner of Assassins hockey team Elli Adler. She has just ran off to open her heart to someone and they in turn have crushed it. She returns home to parents who are disappointed in her and she wants to prove them wrong. She takes a job as a special teams assistant with the Assassins, this is where she will shine and finally enabling her to step out from behind her sister’s shadow.
“In case you haven’t realized by now, I happen to think you are absolutely stunning. So strong, so confident, and so gorgeous.”
Boon Zachariah Hoenes is winger for the Assassins. He is hardworking, loyal and sweet. He had his heart crushed by his ex fiance who had been having an affair for the last 6 months of their relationship. He feels he will never trust or love anyone again. That is until Posey skates on to the ice and knocks him for six.
"Sometimes two people fall in love after having their hearts broken, but together, as a team, they can build a foundation of love that will be indestructible."
The chemistry and attraction between these two was powerful they have you hooked until the last page. Power Play is funny, emotional and such a hot story that you wont be able to put it down and will just want to know what happens next. It has the most amazing secondary characters some we've heard from before and some are new but all make this story incredible.
I highly recommend picking this book up. You wont regret it. I'm very excited to see what comes next in this series.

Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved Boon and Posey's story. They were so good together. I really related to Posey's character who felt she just couldn't shine like her sister. Also loved the PCOS rep. Toni Aleo keeps her characters fresh. She will always be a one click for me

5.0 out of 5 stars Please read!!!!!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book.......honestly its been awhile since a book truly touched me in a way this one did. I felt every emotion deep. Posey brought me back to a time where I was exactly like her. I felt her like I have never felt another character. She was me and that was hard because deep inside I am still her. Posey is beautiful and strong and reading how she began to believe in herself and build this relationship was incredible. The way that Toni described how Posey felt was fantastic. Most heroines have the “picture Perfect” body but we all wish for one we can relate to. Body image is huge for both men and women and she tackled it with beauty. Then along came Boon and I am in LOVE!! This man was kind and loving and so accepting of Posey. The way he built her up and encouraged her to be her own person and to be strong was perfect. I felt every statement and vow he gave her. There was never any doubt right from the beginning that he truly loved and respected everything about her. He even showed cracks in his tough exterior with his own insecurities. These two were meant to be. They reminded me so much of Ellie and Shea and I loved that!!
This is a book that had me sobbing, in a good way, and I felt all the feels within my heart exactly how I like it! This one will stay with me for a very long time!!!! I highly recommend this book......it’s my first 5 star read of 2020!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Boon & Posey
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseToni Aleo never ceases to amaze me with her storytelling. I adored Posey and Boon’s story. The romance between the two is one of the best I have read in quite some time. There is nothing I enjoy more than reading an absolute alpha male come undone when he meets his forever girl. It gets me every time. This happens to Boon when he meets Posey. I hung on every word and I couldn’t wait to read how their story played out. And by my 5 stars there is no doubt as to how much I loved every word.

5.0 out of 5 stars Such an engaging read, easy to do in one sitting!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseOh wow! What a book!! Loved it!!
I have to admit at the beginning Posey just annoyed me for some reason but as you get further into the story and learn more about her she's very likeable and you find yourself relating to her.
Boon is not your typical cocky hockey player, he's damn sweet and loving with a side of confidence.
The 2 of them together are adorable and so easy to read and fall in love with. If you haven't got your copy yet, go now!
