    Doreen Tovey's books have been a favourite with me for nearly forty years. She writes about her darling cats and donkey with such humour, I often laugh out loud. I never get sick of reading these books and have downloaded them to my Kindle so that I can keep on re-reading them and so has my daughter. We've all lost beloved pets and Doreen takes us through the highs and lows with such charm and wit that it is impossible to be sad for too long. Feel good books for all ages. (Especially if your neighbours think you are a bit barmy)

They are all about the life of Doreen and her husband and their animals (cats and a donkey full of character and quirks of their own) in a rural village in Somerset. The books are charming, funny, entertaining, and a nice description of rural English village life between the 1950s and 1980s, with certain villagers appearing in all of the books.
