Book two was a great addition to the series and will read well as a stand-alone. It does have a few of the people from book one, His Forbidden Submissive because a good bit of the story also revolves around the BDSM club, Restrained Fantasies. The story is a journey of survival, moving forward, new discoveries, and haunted past. It will include Raven, who works as a bartender at the club but does not participate in the lifestyle, and Detective Carter Burkes, who not only is a Master but teaches classes to other Doms on how to read their subs.
Sometimes to escape the horrors of your past, you will need to reinvent yourself, and for Genny Malek, she will step outside of her comfort zone and work at a BDSM club as a bartender. She will also go by the name Raven Malek, and along with her black hair, she will have streaks of purple and also tattoos. While she may work in the club, she never participates, she does it for the great pay. She is also now friends with the owner, Master Brock and his submissive, Viv.
Master Carter finds himself hours away from teaching a class on how a Dom can better read a sub when his scheduled classroom submissive calls in sick. While in Brocks office, Raven asks for an audience because she needs to pick up more shifts. This is Carter’s opening to offer her a chance if she acts as his submissive for the class. He promises her that nothing will happen, and no one will touch her. She is actually a great candidate because she isn’t in the lifestyle and her responses will be less jaded and ideal for the new Doms to be able to read properly.
“I will not hurt you. I will not expose you to any other Doms or allow them to hurt you or touch you. You have my word, Raven. Trust me.”
The plot of the story will be the beginning of a journey between Carter and Raven. He knows about her mother and all her arrest, but the more he gets to know Raven, and the nightmare she lived as a child and is still coping with as an adult, the more he admires her for what all she has overcome. Getting her to trust him in the Doms reading their subs class, is also teaching her and she will be willing to further explore with him.
“Overcoming your own mind is often the hardest thing for a sub. Apparently, it was hard for Doms, too.” “Pain and pleasure are two sides of the same coin.”
The story will be a revelation of secrets, painful past, haunting nightmares, and dealing with the present. No matter what Raven does to try and escape her mother who is addicted to meth and prostitutes herself, she is still her mother. For Carter, a past case leaves him feeling like he doomed never to have love and happiness.
“They were two broken souls who’d been lucky enough to find each other. Before Carter, she’d never believed in soul mates, but he made her rethink everything. They were two halves of a fragmented whole, but when they held each other, they healed each other.”
The story has detailed BDSM scenes and involves a controlled class for teaching. It also has scenes between Carter and Raven in private and includes explicit sex scenes.
