Redemption: Someone's Taken Her... Kindle Edition
REDEMPTION - Someone’s taken her...
Someone has abducted television star Kelly Rogers, and the police and the FBI both believe that it was Jake Shelton. And Jake can’t really blame them, after all, he’s done it before.
Ten months earlier, their meteoric love affair ended with Jake taking Kelly hostage and threatening to kill anyone who dared try to separate them. When the chaos of that day ended, there were five innocent people dead, and Jake Stelton was in jail awaiting trial for murder.
His lawyer assured him that his record as a war hero would gain him little favor in the wake of five dead bodies, and that an emotionally shattered Kelly Rogers would gladly testify against him, and had in fact, already told the police about his increasingly bizarre behavior in the days leading up to the killings.
Things looked dim for Jake, that is, until they discovered the tumor.
A leading brain surgeon testified that the tumor found growing inside Jake’s skull was the culprit that propelled him to such violent and paranoid behavior. It was this testimony that set him free.
His freedom meant little, because Kelly wanted nothing to do with him. Her love for him could not overcome her fear of him, so Jake retired to his farm, to live out his life alone.
But someone has taken Kelly Rogers, someone has taken the woman he loves and put her life on the line, and Jake Stelton has made a vow to find her, to save her, and possibly, to even find redemption.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2021Really enjoyed this book. Remington Kane does a dream job with unlikely or misunderstood heros. Is love to read more about Jake as well as Tanner and Mr. White.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2014Wells writes a good story. It holds the readers attention right through to the end. And, as another reviewer said, the story made me want to know, from chapter to chapter, what happens next.
One criticism that I would make is that Mr Wells needs to find a good proofreader and editor. The last name of the character, Kelly, changes throughout the book from 'Rogers' to 'Rodgers,' which I found a bit distracting. There is also a minor character in chapters four and five whose last name is 'Rodgers.' I was also distracted frequently by grammatical errors.
None of this is meant to take away from the value of an interesting story. But I would have thought that an author with as much published material as Donald Wells, would have taken better care to catch these errors before the book was released.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2014Excellent book. I read this book in one day. I kept having to pick it up to see what would happen next. Very good book. It wasn't a real long book, but had lots of action and suspense. I definitely recommend this book and look forward to reading more of Donald Wells other books.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2015I like reading all this author's books. This is one of his stand alone stories. Now we need to know what happens. A great action story in the vein of his others. But we get a continuing narrative series with those. This one needs to be expanded also.
Our villain is really the hero. Why does Callahan continue to believe he is the villain? You'll have to read the book to find out.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2015The concept of the story was heartbreakingly horrific: yet possible. The best mind-benders are, aren't they?
The story arc was a bit too abrupt ~ almost truncated; I would have appreciated a bit more build-up at the beginning ~ maybe a few news articles relating the missing womens' stories so the end would've brought the story full-circle and the reader would have been 'clued in'. [While I can appreciate an author believing the 'shock' of finding the women, plural, would add to the story's complexity, I beg to differ. It didn't.]
The larger flaw was perhaps my own: there were a lot of names! I guess I wasn't sufficiently invested to keep them all straight; more time at the beginning may have alleviated this issue.
[And "Tanner" wasn't even in this story ~ but the author 'thanked' the reader for following Tanner's story. Bad form to recycle 'thanks' from other books ~ smacks of insincerity..... And in a paper-published book, one could at least blame the 'staff' ....]
- Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2021With just a few lines Remington Kane is able to take you to a man's deepest despair. The rest of the story is how he redeems himself!!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2015Good story and characters were believable. Wish I knew how it ended. A fast read and enjoyable. Doesn't measure up to Tanner though.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2015Held me captive nut I could finish it. Read it in one day with every spare minute I had. Can't wait to read more of his books...
