The Reluctant Bride: A captivating Regency romance with a feisty heroine Kindle Edition
After one arranged marriage, newly widowed Charlotte is determined to remain single…
Regency England
Forced by her impecunious father into matrimony with Ernest, Earl of Cranleigh, twenty-year-old Charlotte Willoughby is widowed six weeks after the wedding.
As she comes to the end of her period of mourning, Charlotte is ready to go out into the world again.
With her fortune under the protection of Ernest’s cousin, Sebastian, Duke of Gresham, Charlotte begins to enjoy her independence.
She is joined by her aunt, Esther Meredith, who has stood as mother to her since childhood, and her sister, Harriet Willoughby, and both soon have suitors of their own.
Charlotte finds herself drawn to Gresham, but he seems cold and indifferent towards her.
And when the charismatic Viscount Roxburgh starts to pay her attention, she realises she may not be able to remain unattached for long…
Are Charlotte’s suitors only after her inheritance? Could Roxburgh – or Gresham – be a match for her?
And will anyone succeed in leading this Reluctant Bride down the aisle?
THE RELUCTANT BRIDE is a historical romantic tale set in Regency England. This coming-of-age novel has a strong female lead and a love story at its heart.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2021Format: KindleIn the spirit of Georgette Heyer, this is a gentle Regency Romance that offers a change of pace in a hectic world. Yes, fairly predictable, but engaging nonetheless, with a strong heroine and a dashing hero, as well as a likeable supporting cast. Definitely, a pleasant way to spend a few hours unwinding. My thanks to Sapere Books for the opportunity to read it.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2021Format: KindleThe Reluctant Bride is a first time read by Natalie Kleinmann, new author to this reader. The story is about Lady Charlotte who is forced by her father to marry a man who is older enough to be her father and one she barely knows and let alone does not love. She however does grow to adore her husband's nature as he is a caring and thoughtful person...it is unfortunate that tragedy comes six weeks after their wedding and she becomes a widow.
Sebastian, now the Duke who has taken over where her husband left off has a lot of pride and coldness, whereas Charlotte herself has now become a little prejudicial in her views against him. Now that she is able to come out from under her mourning clothes, she breathes some resemblance of freedom, it is unfortunate that Sebastian holds her purse strings and another suitor has taken a fancy towards her.
I thought the story was well-written but was a bit too slow for me. It dragged in place where I would have liked the pace to be a bit faster. The characters are relatable, enjoyable and puts you in the mind of a few of Jane Austen's novels. Would I read another novel by this author...I would say yes. Nicely written and comfy read for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMore than one woman finds the love of her life until it gets down to the widow who has no desire to remarry. Fun characters and a varied plot. A good read.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2021Format: KindleI thought this was a good book for its time period.
It was a bit predictable but I still enjoyed the story.
Thanks to the publisher for the early copy
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2021Format: KindleCharlotte has never had love before. She had an enjoyable enough arranged marriage but that only lasted for 6 weeks. She may have to dress in widows dress, but how can she miss a man that she hardly knew. Thankfully, she has been able to arrange for her sister to come and visit. Along with her sister Harriet, came Esther, their cousin and companion.
Gresham, who inherited the title from Charlotte’s husband has shown up in London to visit. He wants to make sure that Charlotte has been taken care of since her husband, Ernest’s, death.
As the new year progresses both Charlotte and Gresham get to know each other. Where one is prideful, the other seems prejudiced.
AThroughout the season, suitors will come. They will come for Charlotte, Harriet, and it is possible that one might come for Esther.
It is often hard for an author to juggle three different female characters with possible suitors and still keep the story line cohesive and understandable. Natalie Kleinman has done a wonderful job with this. I have enjoyed this story and will be happy to read it again, or even recommend it to you.
I received a free copy in return for an honest review.

Natalie Kleinman has given readers a book that is well-written, filled it with great cast of characters that come off the pages and pull you into this emotional ride that keeps you involved until the very end, a sweet romance and with an enjoyable plot that bring this read together perfectly!

5.0 out of 5 stars So well written!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved everything about this book. The characters, gradually revealed over the course of the book. The interesting detail as to fashion of clothes and background. The story flowed and never dried up. I really felt like I was visiting with these people, present as their conversations took place. I look forward to reading other books by Natalie Kleinman. She has certainly done Georgette Heyer proud but has her own very special touch.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful regency read
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI haven’t read a regency romance for many years but this took me right back to when I read Georgette Heyer. It’s in just the same vein and, I think, at least as good, possibly better.
This book has all the right ingredients, being well-researched with a very likeable heroine and several suitors, some not so suitable!
Natalie Kleinman has captured the era wonderfully well, from the language used to the clothing and evocative activities.
I look forward to the next one.
Congratulations.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseGood trad regency with good characters, nice plotting and decent period feel. Well edited, without the typos, grammar errors and factual mistakes that make so many regencies barely readable. Minus one star for the ‘okay’ that slipped in at the end.
