Revolving Door: An MM Enemies to Lovers Romance (Open Doors Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 211 ratings

The grump...
Fletcher Morgan doesn’t like a single thing about Archer Waverly—not his pretty face, his wicked wit, or his perfect body. He especially hates the way Archer flirts with anyone and everyone. Everything about Archer reminds Fletcher of someone from his past he would much rather forget.

The flirt...
Archer thought Fletcher could be the silver fox of his dreams…until Fletcher opened his mouth and told Archer exactly how he felt about him. Now Archer is more than happy to rile Fletcher up and accept the consequences. Sparks fly every time they see each other proving hate is as potent as lust and enemies with benefits just might be hotter than friends with benefits.

The fireworks...
When an unfortunate incident involving Archer’s aging drag queen housemate brings Archer and Fletcher together--in more ways than one--they realize there might be more to the other than meets the eye. Maybe there really is a thin line between love and hate.

Revolving Door
is the second full-length novel in the Open Doors series featuring a surly silver fox surf shop owner who refuses to fall in love again, a (mostly) reformed flirt who has never been in love, and a fabulous aging drag queen who has a penchant for platforms and matchmaking.

Vinni George has been a lover of romance novels (of all shapes, sizes, and colors) since she first got her hands on one of her grandmother’s Harlequins and has never looked back. She lives in Ohio with her two favorite guys (her husband and son) and, hopefully—one day—a dog. When she’s not writing, Vinni can be found working for her family’s business, which provides plenty of plot bunnies. In her spare time, Vinni is a soccer mom who dabbles in performance art, quilting, and various culinary pursuits and enjoys traveling.

Vinni’s debut novel, Hold the Door, was a finalist and runner-up in Contemporary Gay Romance in the 2020-2021 Rainbow Awards.

Fletcher owns the local surf shop and loves to surf. He's 43, alone, cranky, and content with how life is going. Well that is until the sassy, spunky, and over flirtatious Archer storms into his life calling Fletcher Daddy which simultaneously ticks him off and turns him on.

If you read the first book in the series, we've met these 2 before. They are both friends of Sam. When I read their little exchange in Sam and Max's book, my interest was piqued and I immediately grabbed this book upon completion.

Fletcher and Archer could not be more opposite. Fletcher is a loner. Runs his small surf shop with his dog Charlie and is content with things as they are. Archer works at the local magazine. He's the life of the party and has made quite the name for himself as a player. Fletcher just isn't in the mood for that crap so he tells Archer he's not interested. Archer wants the older man and he is not shy about telling him despite Fletcher repeatedly refusing his advances. Problem is, his brain and another part of his anatomy didn't seem to get the memo. No matter how hard he tries, the other male continues to occupy space in his mind...

And if we check in on Archer, seems he's faring the same as far as thoughts of Fletcher are concerned.

Grrrr! These 2 men had me feeling all sorts of emotions as the page numbers grew. In the span of 10 minutes I went from swooning, to smiling, to crying, then laughing and cursing the author for trying to make me laugh after they had me crying. I know what you're thinking. Dramatic much? I was just feeling all the feels. I really loved this couple. There was just something extra special about them and their story. My reader heart is so happy to have stumbled upon this new to me author. 2 books later, I'm now addicted to their words and cannot wait to start the next book in the series.

Breaking through the walls that need to come down is the only way that these two could possibly get together. Archer is too much like Fletcher’s ex, fletcher is far too kind to someone he claims to hate. Due to Hank’s injury, their current living situation may give them the time.

Author Vinni George has such a fantastic way with words. She's a great story teller. Grumpy silver fox surfer vs. sassy, sarcastic, (pretend) bitching f*boy (his name for himself). Throw in Hank, an aging drag queen, for good measure. You'll love it!

Vinni George is a relatively new author. I can’t believe I’ve never tried their books before. It was really really good.

I’m sucker for the enemies to lovers trope and the steam level between Fletcher and Archer was epic. Lately I find myself skimming the um…parts (c’mon you know the parts and I don’t want my review to get flagged so just go with the vagueness) of books, I didn’t do that with this one cause *fans self*

Also, Hank was done very well. One of the most memorable side characters. A lot of times authors will create a caricature of a stereotype but not this one.

I will definitely be going back through this authors backlist and I’m really looking forward to Brody’s book. (But like he’s getting a book, right? Please?)

*Possible spoilers in this review* 2.5 rounded up to 3.

I almost DNF this book at around 20%. There's a fine line in an enemies to lovers trope and this one went over that line several times.

Fletcher was abusive. Maybe I'm the only person who feels that way, but as someone who suffered emotional and verbal abuse for years, his actions towards Archer felt abusive. When it turned physical, I was 100% ready to close this book and send my regrets on why I wouldn't be reviewing it. I read a couple of reviews and decided to power through. However, Fletcher putting his hands on Archer's throat without his consent was abuse...and to do it more than once...ugh. I know Archer liked it rough, but breath play should be something done with a safe word or a safe signal in place.

Fletcher was also a whiney baby. Jesus, Mary and Josephina, Adam did this, Adam did that, we were told more than once that Adam cheated with Fletcher's brother AND best friend. I didn't even want he and Archer to get together at that point.

Archer was an interesting character and his interactions with Hank are what made him likable to me.

The turning point for me was the incident with Hank. Honestly, I would have rather had just a flashback of the beach scene and maybe a few interactions between the two and then picked up at this point in the plot. That's when the entire booked changed and became more enjoyable.

I do think the scene with Adam and Sean was unnecessary and I wish we had gotten some sort of resolution or closure regarding Archer and his a-hole family.

Fletcher became likable as the story progressed, but I still didn't care for him at the end of the book.

*I received an arc, but all thoughts and opinions are my own*

5.0 out of 5 stars My favourite from this series!

Having read Sam and Max's story, I knew this one was going to be different. I find it fascinating that the author was able to pull such a different story from her previous one. I adored Sam and Max's sweetness. They were adorable and their story was light-hearted and extra cute. This one though? Not at all! There's no sweetness here. At least not for most part of the book. It was rough, it was shocking, but it was equally wonderful. I know not everyone will be able to put up with Fletcher. We can understand where he's coming from but still, sometimes he's like too much. And Archer is just too adorable and we want him to be happy like yesterday. But it really works out in the end. Again, my respect for the author who was able to bring to life these two characters that are so different from the first two in the series. It is definitely an amazing story. I've already read all the books in the series, loved them all, but this one remains my favourite. 💜

Such a great story about a divorced silver fox, ok not so old, and a pushy younger man with lots of insecurities. This was a real slow burn but had great characters, was very steamy and had me laughing out loud.

4.0 out of 5 stars Opposites attract

When Archer and Fletcher meet it’s more loath at first sight than love, at least on Fletcher’s side.
Bruised and battered over his divorce, Fletcher sees too much of his ex-husband in Archers flirty personality. But as in all good romance stories they manage to find some common ground in some sizzling scenes.
Vinny George takes a pretty standard romance troupe and manages to elevate this enemies to lovers story beyond the usual.
The intimate scenes are hot, the dialogue is natural and funny, and each of the characters is well drawn, and although I’m not usually a fan of using alternating chapters in each of the main protagonist’s ‘voice’, it works well enough here.
There are moments where Fletcher’s ‘woe is me’ whinging and Archer’s determination to seduce the man who doesn’t appear to even like him verge on annoying but the main plot pivot happens just in time.
While characters from other books in the series do make an appearance, this story can be read quite comfortably on its own merits or do yourself a favour and pick up the whole Open Doors series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Read.
Reviewed in Canada on January 2, 2023
Luckily this book redeemed itself and saved the day. For a while it just seemed to plod along with, aside from the very sexy control battle between Archer and Fletcher, boring incedental things going on and dull conversations. But, a little before the half way mark, it ramped right up and saved the story I was almost ready to abandon.
At first I didn't know what to make of Archer, his over the top flirty ways came across as rather pathetic, for a little while I just plain didn't like him. But this turned into an amazing tale, great army of back up characters that made it a solid and entertaining read. I'd read the two that came before, one being Sam and Max's romance, a very entertaining series.

4.0 out of 5 stars author to watch!

It took me a while to get into this one and I wasn’t really feeling it but then the incident with Hank happened and I really started to enjoy it. Hank was a great character. Funny without being too over the top, I could easily paint a picture of him in my mind. Do I want his story???

As a second novel this was pretty good - I liked how the relationship was completely different from the first novel and not just the same old things reshaped. I didn’t really like either character at first especially Archer but they grew on me, as I think the author intended we saw beneath their facades. Vinni George did a wonderful job detailing the experience of someone with a genuine phobia.

I think this author has a lot of potential. I don’t feel compelled to read every scrap of writing put out in their series but I have enjoyed them and they will be on my watch list.
