To Ride with the Knight (Girls Who Dare Book 10) Kindle Edition
Twelve girls – Twelve dares in a hat. Who will dare to risk it all?
To Ride with the Knight
A reckless beauty…
Lady Helena Adolphus is no stranger to scandal. Her brother may be a duke, but his black reputation once threatened her own chances of making a good match. Now returned to the bosom of the ton, Helena is feted and courted as much for her loveliness and wild green eyes as for her hefty dowry. Yet the eligible bachelors leave her cold and respectability is deadly dull. There is only one man who makes her pulse leap, and she knows she’d be a fool to pursue him.
A ruthless man…
Gabriel Knight understands desperation. Born into poverty and raised in a foundling home, Gabriel used every opportunity to claw his way out of the gutter. Now one of the wealthiest men in England, wicked Knight is dismayed to discover his success has not bought him happiness. Restless and bored, he blames his ennui on the pompous aristocrats he despises, those who still close doors in his face.
An imprudent affair …
Though Helena is aware of Gabriel’s animosity for the ton that shuns him, the sinful man tempts her beyond all reason. He is likely out to ruin her, and she knows it, but her stupid pride won’t let her back down from each confrontation. Before she knows what she’s doing, Helena has opened her mouth and dared him to do something scandalous. As the heat of attraction flares hotter between them, the risk of getting burned only makes riding with the Knight ever more enticing.
Warning:This book has a stubborn, wilful and feisty heroine and a drool worthy gentleman. There WILL be some cursing and graphically descriptive sex scenes no way even bordering on erotica!

What I don't understand is the amount of typos and grammar mistakes in every book. I have found this to be a consistent issue among ebooks. I would love to be part of an early-release program in which readers/fans could get an early copy of a story and provide edits before publication. Why is this not "a thing"?
- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2020Will he ever be enough, him the fatherless boy, for the lofty woman who shaken his world ...
I confess Helena was not my favorite in the daring girls group, as Minerva at the beginning. She is a Duke’s daughter and sister, so she lacked of nothing, so what could be interesting in her, while Gabriel, I like a man who raised himself from the gutter, yet he was less intriguing than his friend Inigo.
Plus Helena’s book happens to come in between me and Matilda and Montagu’s story!
My heart and eyes are only set on July, 3rd.
Thus she entered the scene of this book with quite an impediment.
Why, I didn’t really care about a socialite and a social-climbing businessman, both are well-turned in their own world, yet once more, Mrs Leech did wonder, she paired two successful people together, still them being born from each side of the blanket, they are perfectly unsuitable in the gaze of the ton. But it does not stop them as each one stirs a longing in the other, to be seen just once for whom they are in their inner core.
Pride and stubbornness are what linked them at the beginning, until they show they failing and hidden wounds.
I am not sure I liked Helena to poke him at every turn, like if she could not forgive him to not fan at her feet like her many suitors. When she is in fact quite courageous to go after the man she wants, she has her doubts but better make him angry than not be seen.
I began to really warm to their plight when it seemed only dents and holes happened on their journey toward another, how being born on one side of the fence would influence one’s whole life, whom to encounter, what to do, where to go and whom to live with ...
At half mark, I was completely sucked in the book, and glad it was a rest day.
The road trip part of the book was so sweet, fun and moving with its alternating to Matilda’s struggles.
How I hate Mrs Leech, I was so certain to dislike Montagu, but with her few last books, she shows how much more of him there is instead of the haughty icy mask he presents to the world. And now my heart aches for him and the little boy who was robbed of love since his childhood. I am glad he has Phoebe to cheer him in his darkest days.
I do wonder what will be his voice.
Oh my, how I love the bout of letters at each chapter’s opening, I even wish there would be more chapters in each book, solely for them.
One more five stars read when I began it just because I needed to see how things would progress on Matilda and Montagu’s side, and finished it with tears in my eyes for Helena and Gabe.
And now, when book 11 is since long preordered, imagine my surprise when I checked the series and discovered there will be a twelfth book, but then, who will be the heroine?!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2021From the moment Gabriel Knight came on the scene, I knew eventually I was going to love the bastard who grew up on the streets with no parents & clawed his way doing anything he could to become the wealthy man he was today & he has quite the reputation with the ladies. He is a successful businessman, owns many properties & investments & can purchase anything he wants - but he can't buy acceptance into society. He knows he needs to marry into a well-established Ton family to get this last thing he yearns for; however, what does he do? He falls in love with a duke's daughter & knows that he can never have her & tries to keep her at arm's length until he can't.
Helena Adolphus is the eighteen-year-old sister of Robert Adolphus, the Duke of Bedwin. She is beautiful & knows she has been raised to marry well but she is smitten with Gabe & ties to get him to like her because she is vibrant, full of sunshine, opinionated & wants to marry for love. She has been scolded by her friends to stay away from Gabe & even she knows, her brother will not entertain his interest even if she could get Gabe attention.......and then she did!
The wonderful romance is so much fun - bantering between them was great, a have a race between them from London to Brighton(he should never have said she couldn't drive a phaeton as well as he could), friends that were so kind, servants that were friends & loyal to the death, her brother was ready to slay dragons to keep her safe. This was a sweet, exciting love story between two classes & I highly recommend this & the entire series!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2021I didn't realize this was a series I would be interested in so I started with book #10. Needless to say there was a lot of background I didn't understand and an overwhelming number of characters. I went back and started at the beginning and I have thoroughly enjoyed and reread this series. I agree with another reviewer though, there are too many basic proofreading errors. It would just take one more person to do a final read through to catch them.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2020I totally envisioned Gabriel being a surly, bordering on cruel, brute who tormented and used Helena. However, after these two shed their cold masks of self preservation, they were like children eating ice cream or chocolate for the first time. This was a refreshing love story, which often differs - in my opinion - from a romance, per se. Here were two people in love going to extremes to reach their HEA. Sure, they had an angry brother chasing them across England, but there were no jealous mistresses, evil villains, misunderstandings, or over-angsty internal dialogue to ruin it.
The only bummer is my melancholy over Montagu and Matilda. There’s enough angst and potential villains on the horizon to give me an ulcer. I have an inkling why the uncle is a villain, and it makes me sick, but that along with the “book” doesn’t explain how the larger-than-life Montagu is being manipulated. I will cross my fingers and hope for the best, because I still don’t understand why Matilda isn’t good enough, and she doesn’t deserve any of her problems. I can’t wait to find out which dare she picked.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just As Good As The Previous Nine
How glad I am that there is a big selection of free books to read, as I have discovered so many excellent writers by starting with a ‘freebie’ and here is another example. One free read and I bought the rest, even pre-ordering the next two.
I have adored this series of books. Each and every book, for me, has been 5 stars. All of the girls have had a great story with the sizzling slow burner between Tilda and Lucien woven through each tale. The build up there has been masterful and I long to read their story, whilst also not wanting it to end. Am fascinated, though, that there appears to be an extra tale to tell, with a mystery heroine. Surely it will be either Phoebe, all grown up, or maybe Tilly who proved herself to be as good a friend as any. Or, who knows, Lady St Clair has shown a naughty side to herself, perhaps even a new girl who will fall for Henry. Whoever it will be, it is a little extra bonus for this excellent series of books, and there are plenty of dares left. 🤞
The girls have not all been rich and beautiful, the men they fell for not all impeccable and titled, but each story has shown how ones faults can be overcome and how important true friendship is.
Thank goodness Emma is such a prolific writer and has so many books for me to hopefully enjoy. So on to another series of hers until I can pop back next month for Matilda and Montagu - which promises to be a ten star. Can’t wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great story in the Girls Who Dare series
I was glad to race through this story, as Gabriel and Helena certain got the heart racing. First the dare, then the race followed by the ride with her Knight. It was definitely a page turner and hard to put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it 😍
Helena is such a vivacious and lively woman and Gabe is the perfect complement to her. Her greatest fear is to lead a monotonous life. She yearns for a partner with whom she can share in the adventures of life and who would not expect her to only be an empty, biddable, baby-making wife of the ton. Gabriel has been looked down upon his entire life. Even though he has worked hard to become a very rich and successful man, alas, he cannot change the circumstances of his birth and as birth and pedigree is the only thing that matters in the world they are born in, Gabriel expects to be shunned and rejected by the daughter of a Duke. But, sparks fly and they both fall in love. At risk of divulging spoilers, I'll just say that after a series of tumultuous situations they ultimately find their happily ever after.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Duke’s outrageous daughter falls for a resentful rogue. Fascinating,
Ah, Helena, feisty beauty relentlessly pursuing the dangerous Gabe, bastard tycoon. Their frustrating yet exciting interactions can be wild but always entertaining and engrossing, to the last.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unrequited....at first!!
I seem to be perpetually waiting (very impatiently) for each of this series to be released and then practically inhale the book once it arrives on my kindle! This addition was no different and even though I didn't consider myself very invested in Helena's story, (as I did not consider her to be one of the original 'Peculiar ladies') however I loved her character development and really enjoyed her sparking with Gabriel Knight. The subplot between Matilda and Montagu makes my chest ache with all that they feel for each other and I cannot wait for the next book! (I spend the duration of reading each of this series simultaneously waiting to get to the end and trying to drag it out) As always, I found myself both laughing and welling up in parts of this book aswell...I have come to expect this from these books. This was another amazing foray into Emma V Leech's meticulous brain weaving all of these fantastic characters seamlessly together.
