4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 26 ratings

Can good girls ever win? High school principal Judy Anne Palmer doesn't think so. She was always a good girl who never did an impulsive, rebellious thing. Ever. And look where it got her! Stuck in a life she hates!

One night in Dallas, she meets a man and throw caution to the wind, knowing she'll never see her one-night Romeo again. Unfortunately, the night doesn't turn out exactly the way she planned, and neither does her one-night Romeo. To her horror, he shows up in her hometown as a new teacher on her faculty.

Judy Anne decides the only thing she can do is make him want to quit! The problem is there's something hot and urgent between them. How will Judy Anne keep her secret passion from turning into the biggest scandal little Clayton Bend, Texas, has ever seen?

If you love the hot chemistry in an enemies to lovers romance, you'll adore this small town romance between two people who seem to have nothing in common.

Joan Reeves, Writing Happily Ever After—Time After Time, is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of Romance. Regardless of the sub-genre, all of her novels have the same underlying premise: "It's never too late to live happily ever after. Her novels have been published in half a dozen languages, and her books are available in audio, ebook, and print.

NOTE: Since Joan has been writing for several years and had print books published with many publishers—American and foreign—be sure you choose a print book with a copyright date after 2011 because Amazon shows all of her old print books here. (Authors have no control over this.) The new print editions have been expanded and show new cover art.

When not writing romance—or nonfiction to share what she has learned in life—Joan divides her time between the hustle and bustle of Houston and a house in the Texas Hill Country where she and her hero, her husband, sit on the porch at night, look at the star-studded sky, and listen to the coyotes howl.

Having read Joan Reeves's The Trouble With Love, the first book in her Texas One Night Stands series, I was very much looking forward to her second story in the series, Romeo and Judy Anne. For the title alone I would have picked up this book. I love it! And, fortunately, a great title delivers a great story.

Judy Anne is a 29-year-old virgin. But that's not the point of the story. Rather it is indicative of her life in general, a life she feels--through too much responsibility--has passed her by. She decides a one-night-stand will remedy at least one aspect of her mundane existence. And perhaps it would have been as simple as that if Judy Anne's "Mr. Right" had not been the other half of that one nighter.

Roman Carlisle is a wonderful hero, sophisticated, handsome, and charming. But what really engages the reader--aside from Roman's uber sexiness, ahem--is the warmth he exudes and his heartfelt pursuit of woman he wants but hasn't quite decided what that means.

I can't recommend this story enough. The characterization is deep and the end as satisfying as the reader could hope for. I am now anxiously awaiting book 3, Forever Starts Tonight, of this very addictive series.

There are so many things I love about the way Reeves writes -- her characters are well developed, the situations they're put in are compelling and the dialogue is frequently humorous. But it's the underlying emotion that continues to draw me further into every story. I really loved the way we're given a peek into Judy Anne's family life. The multi-generational aspect of the story brought a very realistic dimension to this romance, and I appreciated the challenges Judy Anne had in this arena of her life. Of course, it would be hard to resist the sexy, music-loving, full-of-surprises Roman/Romeo for long, wouldn't it? Watching the two of them discover, define and work out their relationship was delightful from start to finish.

All of her books are great fun. I thoroughly enjoyed every one of them and can't wait for MORE. The right amount of misunderstandings, energy, sexual tension and naughty action to go around. I loved the fast read of it. Yes, you will definitely want to stay up to finish them. What are you waiting for? Click on Buy Now! you won't be sorry. :)

PS: don't be put off by the editting-I've heard she's waiting for Amazon to update her changes.

I enjoy Joan Reeves books. The heroine in this book though, made me want to yell, "stop being a victim". I gave the book 3 stars because I didn't feel like I wasted the purchase but I don't think it's worthy of a re-read.

This was a wonderful story that involved the complexities of small town life plus the difficulties in dealing with grief. Along with a very page-turning romance, there are very realistic, tear-jerking moments between Judy Anne, her mother, and one of her nieces. I cried a few times in this book and found myself just as hung up on Judy Anne and Roman's relationship as I did with Judy Anne and her niece. Very sweet book! Loved it! Judy Anne has every reason in the world to be as she is, and she works hard to do better. She has a lot of courage. I enjoyed reading this story very much.

I just adored Roman/Romeo. Perfect hero material, hot, rich and a lovely guy. He's definitely my favorite of Joan Reeve's heroes. Judy Anne is a likeable heroine with a difficult family situation that she tries hard to deal with. The start of this book sucked me straight in and kept me reading. Another great read!
