Their relationship moves quickly until danger threatens to destroy everything they've built. I love age-gap, Daddy/boy books with a twist of kink and this was perfect. This is a spinoff of the Heavyload Series but can be read as a stand-alone but why not enjoy both. I highly recommend this book and you get an epilogue too with a big dose of HEA.

    Daddy Dom Ronan (43) and boy Cody (23) meet at a k¡nk club and one insta-lovey night together turns into a relationship. Ronan is all in from the word go, convinced he's found his "forever boy" basically at first sight. Cody, who has a tough backstory and self-worth issues, has an independent streak yet is basically eager to fully commit and submit.

    Swoony insta-love stories can be quite enjoyable, but I wasn't feeling this one. To be honest, Ronan came across as a man who wanted to find a life partner so badly that he would've willingly fallen hard for the first boy who came along. It didn't seem like he had an especially strong connection (other than physical attraction) to Cody, and I needed that missing piece.

    The late addition of Daddy Dom Harley to their dynamic seemed a little off in terms of timing and not having the benefit of his POV other than in the epilogue. As a result, it felt like it was done simply to up the steam factor (which was already high) rather than being a balanced poly romance.

    As an aside, I've never been a fan of the "clean" rhetoric to convey one's sexual health status (as was used by an MC here) because it's damaging and stigmatizing on the whole. The idea that using such language is 'true to the character because it's in dialogue' is a tired argument, and I wish more romance authors would take that into account by adopting different language.

    I haven't read Book 1 in the Escape Club series, but didn't have any trouble following along here. I received an advance reading e-copy of this book and have left this honest review voluntarily. (Also read in KU.) [Story: 3.5 Stars]

    I enjoyed this story but definitely felt it didn't need the stalker situation. It comes toward the end of the book and is wrapped up after only a few incidents. It felt rushed and unnecessary. Especially when the forming of the triad was still happening. I would have rathered have Harley moving in, selling his house, and seeing how they settle together as a triad over a random stalker from the past that Cody doesn't even remember. Instead, because that was added, how Harley, Cody, and Ronan settle into the rhythm of their dynamic happens off page and there are just snippets seen through the epilogues.

    While I can barely comment on Harley being with them, I very much loved how Cody and Ronan found one another and fell in love! Their dynamic was beautiful to watch.

    Ronan’s Boy by JJ Harper is the second book in her Escape Club series. It is a standalone book in the series however you are doing yourself a disservice if you miss out on book 1.
    It is the story of Cody, Ronan & Harley and whilst Harley doesn’t enter the relationship straight away he is an integral part of this story given Ronan & Harley are best friends and both daddies.
    Cody has had a tragic past which has shaped him into the boy he is today, after he was rescued and shown love and nurturing he has since come on leaps and bounds with a job, an apartment and working on improving his prospects.
    Once Ronan & Cody meet it’s job done, lust and love blossoms quickly but it wouldn’t be a JJ Harper book without a bit of angst and there’s definitely that as they learn to navigate their relationship. Once Harley enters the picture Cody is in awe of him and Ronan clearly has some feeling there too and so their triad is born. It is a BDSM relationship but not a daddy/ little story so there’s a different dynamic with heaps of steam!
    JJ Harper has evolved over her many books and genre’s, almost unrecognisable from her early books showing she has a great drive, a willingness to learn her craft and determination to succeed. The writing is sophisticated and well rounded with a well thought out background story, endearing characters and a whole cast of thrilling secondary characters which add to the twist and turns one has come to expect from this author’s work.
    So in summary a wonderful book in a wonderful series that keeps you on the edge of your seat, keeps you entertained and squeezes your heart ♥️ in a really good way.

The main romance between Ronan and his boy Cody is settled fairly quickly but it’s when Ronan brings his friend and fellow Daddy, Harley into the relationship that things become more interesting. Will they, won’t they? How could he fit in? Is he a passing faze or will they work it out? You will have to read this book to find out.

    I enjoyed reading this story and have read another book by this author as well. The story seemed to flow nicely and didn't go too deep or dark.

    It was good to see a boy who has an opinion (cheeky one at that who made me smile) that was received well and appreciated for being part of who he is as a person. This book showed clearly that the power isn't mostly held by the Daddy and that the Boy and their feelings are very important too.

    It has the story line of meeting up, some obstacles to get over, working their way through things and then the must have - the happily ever after (HEA) ending.

    It has some characters from a previous book who are mentioned only as part of the book but not critical to this story. As this is a stand alone book, you can read this without needing to read any other book first. I'd recommend reading further by this author if you enjoyed this book like I did.
