Wooooo!! A thrilling adrenaline rush that will have you in tears one second and then have you wanting to kick some butt the next! If Damien Vetrov is my John Wick, Carson Koslov is my Jason Bourne. Quiet, calculating, intelligent, elusive assassin. He’s the man we all want to have our back. And the more I learn about him, the more I want to be his ray of sunshine, like Hailey is. Everything about Hailey screams beautiful soul. This woman is the ray of light in a stormy night, the candle leading us down a dark hallway, the nightlight so we won’t be afraid of the dark. She is the good in all of us. It’s easy to get caught in her aura and to understand the beauty she brings to Carson otherwise dark existence. These two literally had me on the verge of tears almost their entire journey. They’re emotional, raw, and just so darn beautiful. Assassins tend to lead a lonely reclusive life, but once these two collide, that kind of existence is impossible. Michelle did a number on my heart with this one and has me lusting over brothers…ahem, Alexei Carson sandwich anyone!? 🙋🏻‍♀️

    WOW, there's not much to say when an author writes like this one. Ik I thought Carson would always be a lone wolf since his guardian was taken. Carson really surprised me with his residency. Hailey is like a ray of sunshine in the darkness. Assassin can have name meanings and when you look at it from another point of view and the work that's not being paid for, you truly see the difference. Only counting the bad and not seeing the good is what being between Carson & Hailey, but the different perspective put them back together. I'm really happy they finally found the light off the sun in the darkness provided by the moon.

HOWEVER, can we talk about the love bombing after literally 1 hook up and probably 3 times actually seeing other? Like it gave me the ick and I was like “whoa there cowgirl, let’s reel it in a bit” but anyhow still loved it. lol

    I can't begin to explain how much I love Michelle Heard. Her books give you all the feels. I laughed, I ugly cried, and I felt hope and love. I would have loved if there was one scene of actual lovemaking. The sex was as intense as Carson, so it would have been really nice to have one where it was slow and magical. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the sex scenes. Just one with absolute love would have been even better, but nonetheless, I loved the book. I loved the characters, and I will definitely continue the Saint Series.

    Typically you get the storyline that is mainly in the cruel world of crime. But no this book looks more into the down time of an assassin. And the one time he finally lets himself feel.

    Not gonna lie there’s a section of this book that is heartbreaking but is SO important to the character plot so you gotta endure it.

    The passion was not just spicy but more loving. And excellent work on the main characters house.

    I have to admit...this one totally surprised me in a good way! Because after the first few chapters I started to get a little disappointed, but then ... WOW ... Did it pick-up and impress me!

    First, let me get my only complaint out of the way. What the heck kind of Russian name is Carson? Really, I just couldn't get around that name for a Russian H. If they'd grown up in the states or somewhere other than Russia maybe. But that wasn't the case. He was born and raised in Russia till he was 16 then moved to Swtzerland to be with his older brother. The name may have had something to do with the disconnect I mention below. It was after I looked up Russian names and gave the H one I chose (Nikolai, with the American h calling him Nik and his Brother calling him Nikolai or Nikki) that I started reconnecting, but could have been the story picking-up too. Has anyone ever done that?... Changed a characters name because you didn't like the one the author gave him/her?

    This story started off pretty interesting...I got hooked reading the "look inside" (1st 3 chapters) on Amazon, so bought the book to continue reading. But a few chapters after those first 3, the characters seemed to be going flat, particularly the H. A disconnect seemed to develop with the H. The name didn't fit and I couldn't reconcile what the H is (trained assassin) to the man he seemed to be after meeting the h (which happens early on). But I kept reading and am I glad I did. It wasn't long before you see the H in action making you believe he is what he's supposed to be; and not long before things go sideways, putting them in danger and then pulling them apart as she discovers what he really is.

    And this is the point where this book became a five star for me. I save my five stars for books that move me to real emotions, ones that make me feel what the characters are feeling. It could be out loud laughter; an abundance of joy that stays with me long after the story is over; extreme anger or rage....the emotion doesn't matter, just that I felt it. And boy, did I feel this one. I felt the H's (yeah, the one I initially had the disconnect with), I felt his regret, his sorrow, his despair and hoplessness, his loss...to the point that I was choked up with a lump the size of a grapefruit in my throat (that hurt) and tears sneaking down my cheeks. (If the hubby hadn't been sitting right next to me I'd have probably been bawling out loud.) And I continued to feel both their emotions as the H continued to watch her to keep her safe, but gave her the space/separation she wanted not knowing if she would ever accept him, stop fearing him or even forgive him. And I felt her confusion, sadness and fear as she worked through the terror of what happened to her, fear of what he was even while missing him and trying to reconcile the man she fell in love with with the assassin.

    I even loved the side characters, Alexei, Damien, Dimitri and MJ to name a few. This book is part of Heard's Saints series. Each is a stand-alone telling a different characters story. Damien's story is first, then Lucien, this one, Carson's/(Nikolai's ... lol) story is 3rd in the series followed by Dimitri's due out in Aug 2021, then Alexei's due out in Oct 2021. Looking forward to that last one especially.

    To be honest I wasn't excited for a Carson story he was really a side character for me.. but Michelle heard proved me wrong. This was unexpectedly great it was a normal everyday backpacker girl falling in love with a hermit assassin. Their relationship was cute and I loved that it was a lovers to enemies back to lovers with good time breaks (not a week or 2). The only thing I missed was I was hoping for Carson to reach out to his best friend Damien about it all but that's just me haha. Def recommend this series they are individually great easy reads.

    I really enjoyed! Carson is dark and an introvert, so feelings? He doesn’t know how to express it. Being touched by a sunshine of a person put him in a situation where he wants what he can’t have.
    Being with him means not having a normal life, and to put a “normal” person in it, means danger and precautions.
    He will do anything to protect her and make her love him so when she finds out the truth she wouldn’t leave him!
    Because of his obsession and the fear that she would never want him because of his profession he puts her in a situation that will forever changes her. And the only hope he have is that she remember the person he is without the title of an assassin.

    I love the deep connection between Carson and Hailey; there was something endearing about their reserved exchanges when they first met. Carson is the strong, silent type; he’s edgy and guarded and the antithesis of Hailey, who is open, friendly and compassionate. These two are my perfect couple, but their instant attraction and subsequent relationship is built on a foundation of prevarication and lies that ultimately leads to harrowing and deadly consequences.

    In Carson’s world there are only allies or foes. Alongside Carson and Hailey, there’s a cast of the good, the bad and the ugly. I adore Carson’s brother, Alexei, and bodyguards, Demitri and MJ; they provide a blend of strength, loyalty, humour and love. But the world they all live in is filled with cruel and despicable enemies, lurking in the shadows.
