Ryker & Gavin (Something About Him) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 144 ratings

Gavin Mitchel has resigned himself to a lonely and unfulfilling love life. His first meeting with Ryker Hudson is as steamy as it is random, which is precisely the way Ryker likes it. Their second meeting, while equally random, is beyond awkward.
Although a fourteen-year age difference stands in their way, a much larger obstacle also blocks their path. Together, Ryker and Gavin must find the strength to overcome the roadblocks or bid farewell to their happily ever after.
Ryker & Gavin is a May/December, forbidden love romance.
This book was originally published in 2017 under the same title. The story, blurb, and cover have been revised and updated.

Escape into addictive, sexy, emotional M/M romance.

A.D. Ellis is an Indiana girl, born and raised. She spends much of her time in central Indiana as an instructional coach/teacher in the inner city of Indianapolis, being a mom to two amazing teens, and wondering how she and her husband of over two decades haven't driven each other insane yet. A lot of her time is also devoted to phone call avoidance and her hatred of cooking.

She loves chocolate, hot tea, sweet wine with friends, pizza, and naps along with reading and writing romance. These loves don’t leave much time for housework, much to the chagrin of her husband. Who would pick cleaning the house over a nap or a good book? She uses any extra time to increase her fluency in sarcasm.

A.D. uses she/they pronouns.

** spoiler alert ** After what happened when he came out to his mother, Ryker has locked away his heart and only has time for one night stands. Gavin believed he would always be lonely until he met a younger man, never knowing how connected they are. When they re-meet, will Ryker be able to forgive his past to move forward? Will Gavin take a chance on a real relationship with Ryker?

This book was a mix of sweet, hot, and soul searching. You have two men whom are both out, but have been handed different paths. I understood Ryker's anger from the beginning, but was so happy that he was able to overcome it and let himself be happy. I was excited when Gavin decided to take the leap and give them a chance regardless of the obstacles. This was definitely a great read and I will be going back to read the other books in the series!

MM. Explicit. Ryker was hurt by his mother not being able to accept him and he carries that bitterness with him. He is immature and lashes out aggressively. I had hoped he acted more mature, not excuse the issues that lay between them, but to not hurt people because he was hurt. His mother has much to learn and she acts very immature in her reactions as well. Gavin is mature and his advise is well deserved.

I really loved Ryker and Gavin's tory. I have recently come to really like this author's books. Ryker is a very sweet, hurt and lonely guy. He had an immediate connection to Gaviin as a quick hookup only to find out he is his mom's best friend. Well despite all that Gaven and Ryker give themselves a chance at a relationship. The are so sweet together. Even though Gavin is a older, he is young in so many ways, especially in relationship and love. There were many changes and curves the guys went through to finally get to their HEA. I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and was great from beginning to end. I received an ARC and I voluntarily read it for an honest review.

This was my first book by A.D. Ellis and it certainly won't be my last!! Someone was looking for a May/December book on one of my go to book sites and while I had previously read the ones mentioned, I had NOT read Ryker & Gavin or any book by A. D. Ellis. It such a wonderful book with such real and heartfelt emotion. I simply couldn't put it down. After I finished it in one sitting, I immediately went back and purchased the first and second book in the series. Once I load up my Amazon card I will get the remaining books. Don't hesitate just one click it now you will not be sorry!!

A very sweet romance. Every time I read the mom`s words I heard Sue Sylvester from Glee in my head. Never did grow to like mom much but other than her it's a great story.

Ryder had a rough time after he told his mom about being gay. His life was turned upside down. Fate intervenes and he meets Asher. Asher is so great for him. He helps find a life once his has been turned upside down. Gavin is friends with his mom. The emotions that they go through after meeting the first time, then again with his mom is a big rollercoaster of emotions. They fight the feelings but as Asher says fate is there. Love their friends and family from Torey Hope. This is an emotion filled story about the way some gay people struggle to come out. Love this story.

Ryker and Gavin certainly had some chemistry together. The pacing of the book was good, but I had some issues I just had trouble getting past.

I found the constant harping on the fourteen-year age difference annoying. The characters don't just keep pointing out that there is an age difference, but specifically fourteen-years (over and over again). By the end it was just exasperating.

The book is written in alternating first-person POV. This can be tricky to pull off and there were times that the chapter breaks, and hence the POV change, felt more like the middle of a scene and I'd end up feeling a little lost.

I also really don't like Annabeth. I feel like her friendship with Gavin overshadows the whole book. She also strikes me as a selfish woman who is only happy when she gets her way.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Makes you feel real hurt and confusion and indignation in all the right spots, without getting too riled up. I suspect it's even better if you've read the Torey Hope series or at least the Sawyer one.

This is book 5 in the Something About Him series. This novel is about Ryker a 23 year old man who at ages 18 was kicked out of his home by his mother for being gay. Gavin is best friends with Rykers mum Annabeth and only knows Ryker as the son she abandoned 5 years ago. By a cruel twist of fate both men meet again after their one night together only to realise that the attraction they felt for each other can't continue because of Annabeth. But the spark won't go away and both men find they can't stay away from each other. Can they make a relationship work and can Annabeth accept her son and her best friend being together. Can Ryker let go of the hurt his mother caused and can Gavin get over the 14 year age gap and also help Ryker and Annabeth reconnect without losing Ryker in the process. Read this book to find out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loving the Something About Him series
Reviewed in Australia on April 27, 2017
This is the sixth book in this series and it's just as good as the first three. I love these stories as they have so much emotion poured into each one. Gavin is older than Ryker and both men are out but certain circumstances in their lives make them both put up unnecessary obstacles between them. These two have to both work hard for themselves and as a couple if they want to be together. This book was well written and I have loved all the men in the Something about Him series but I think Ryker and Gavin are now my favourites. Well done A.D Ellis
