Two women. One secret. How many lies?

The sudden death of her mother shatters Olivia Gilchrist’s world. Grief turns to shock when a post-mortem reveals Sonia has lied to her daughter in the cruellest possible way. Angry and hurt, Olivia vows to uncover the truth.

Meanwhile, Olivia’s neighbour, Elena, harbours a dark secret. Now the past has caught up with her, forcing Elena to go into hiding.

Then Olivia discovers Elena was involved in Sonia’s deceit. She has questions she’s desperate to ask her former neighbour. Olivia suspects, however, that Elena is warped and unstable. Tracking her down may be difficult and dangerous.

The temptation proves too strong, and a game of cat and mouse with a vengeful woman ensues. One that has the potential to turn deadly…

A gripping novel of psychological suspense, She'll Never Tell is the story of a decades-old secret that refuses to stay hidden.

I really didn't like many of the characters in this story. Love, hate, dishonesty; who to believe or trust. Intriguing!

This book had me on edge the entire read. Funny that it reminds me of my life and my adopted son who experiences the similar mental issues as Connor/Cameron. Parents will do what they need to protect their children for sure.

This book was full of suspense with each page. I would highly recommend this book for people who crave suspense novels. Maggie James knows how to put a suspense filled novel together and I can’t wait to read more novels from her.

The characters are vividly detailed. I found myself engaged in the same way as the protagonist as she noticed the behaviors of other characters. It’s hard not to feel her grief and anxiety. You want to hate some of these characters, but you can’t. Throughout the story, more stories of betrayals, suspicions, distrust, and surprises are interweaved. Don’t even try guessing who did what.

The author manages to weave the past and the present interestingly. The author’s writing gets better with time. James is one of my favorite authors, and her books are thought-provoking and entertaining.

I liked how the story kept your interest and had a smooth flow . It was easy to tell when it was in the present or explaining the past. Loved the book

Ooh, family secrets and lies, with jealousy being the predominant theme of this can’t-put-it-down book. It’s a very compelling read.

Not quite sure why I finished this. The only likeable person was David-everyone else was unpleasant or acted really dumb.

A very interesting start and has me guessing as to what happened or happens. I love the writing style and it just all blends together so well the characters and the story.

There are so many cringeworthy moments in this book especially with the feelings it invokes.

Elena is a horrid creature for me who seems to want to make amends for what she did but she also doesn't understand the hurt she has caused to others. Betrayal is one thing she seemed to be good at.

Olivia was a good character but she was not the most interesting of characters because she seemed to be very normal. Nothing really that made her stand out from anyone else in the crowd.

What I liked a lot is that this deals with so many mental health issues that you can't help but feel for the main characters and what they have went through.

There are so many misdirections in this book which I love as it screws with your mind. Such am interesting book that delves into the human psyche.

When I see Connor I almost want to cry for what that poor your man must have felt especially finding out what happened to him as a baby. He reacted in a fashion that while is harsh I also can understand as well. He was betrayed and he seemed to have a lot of the same mental health issues as Elena.

How this book made me feel is hard to explain as I don't think enjoy is the correct term. The writing is amazing and the story has a pace that really lends itself well for this book.

The characters are greatly designed with lots of emotional baggage as well as lots of issues that they try to resolve.

The story had my skin crawling at times but that also makes for a great read for me since I love have the heeby jeebies.

Honestly this is what makes me want to read are books such as these since you take what you can out of the book and you can read so much into what i take from this book could be different from what others do.

This is the first book I've read of Maggie James, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The storyline was very intriguing with just the right amount of twists to make it believable.
All the characters were well placed and interesting, I love the twist at the end that I didn't see coming.
I definitely will be reading more by Maggie James.
    A highly recommended read.

Not sure if this is the way people talk in England, but I found the endearments really overdone. Story was fast paced. Didn't care for Olivia much. She went a little overboard with her separation from her husband. I didn't really see how the separation had much to do with the plot either. Overall, the story was ok but I didn't like it enough to seek out more by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cracking psychological thriller
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 31, 2021
Maggie James has written another finely crafted, psychological thriller. An intricate web of lies, deceptions and revelations, with some twists that I definitely didn't see coming.

Olivia Gilchrist's life is unravelling at an alarming rate ~ she's separated from her husband, her father's living in a nursing home after an accident and as if that wasn't bad enough, she's informed by two police officers of her mother's death. But, it gets worse and has Olivia questioning everything she knew about her life. How is Olivia's enigmatic neighbour Elena involved? Olivia is desperate to find out the truth, but at what cost?

What follows is an awesome read exploring loss, guilt, deception, vengeance and is littered with enough red herrings to keep you guessing right up to the end.

I received an advance reader copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review
