Sadistic Sherlock (Ward Security Book 4) Kindle Edition
With no true identity, it wasn’t hard.
But if he’d stayed, he would have been drawn further into a life he’d never chosen.
He has friends and family at Ward Security now and has escaped his dark past.
There is only one thing he truly wants: Abraham Stephens.
When Dom was first tasked with watching over his friend’s father, he didn’t expect to fall so hard for the gorgeous silver fox.
But Abe is interested in friendship only.
He’s at a point in his life where he wants something permanent, not a romp with the sexy redhead who is the same age as his son.
But Abe finds himself drawn deeper into Dom’s life when cryptic messages appear—ones that frighten the skilled security specialist.
The more Dom tries to hide what’s happening, the more Abe wants to help him.
And maybe, just maybe, he’ll trust the bond Dom understood from the start.

About the authors
New York Times Bestselling author Jocelynn Drake loves a good story, whether she is reading it or writing one of her own. Over the years, her stories have allowed her to explore space, talk to dragons, dodge bullets with assassins, hang with vampires, and fall in love again and again.
This former Kentucky girl has moved up, down, and across the U.S. with her husband. Recently, they’ve settled near the Rockies.
When she is not hammering away at her keyboard or curled up with a book, she can be found walking her dog Ace, or playing video games. She loves Bruce Wayne, Ezio Auditore, travel, tattoos, explosions, and fast cars.
She is the author of the urban fantasy series: The Dark Days series and the Asylum Tales. She has recently completed a gay romantic suspense series called The Exit Strategy about two assassins falling in love and trying to create a life together, as well as a MM paranormal romance series featuring a family of vampires.
She has co-authored with Rinda Elliot the following series: Unbreakable Bonds, Ward Security, Pineapple Grove, and the Weavers Circle. She has also co-authored with AJ Sherwood the Scales 'N Spells dragon series. She can be found at JocelynnDrake.com.
I write MM, MF, and MMF romances. Love is love! Some are paranormal, contemporary, and space opera. While all of my books are romantic and sexy, most lean toward erotic. But three of these books-Foretold, Forecast, and Foresworn are MF Young Adult novels. A complete trilogy that I'm rereleasing after getting my rights back from Harlequin Teen. Dweller on the Threshold is sexy, but not erotic. I love unusual stories and credit growing up in a family of curious life-lovers who moved all over the country. Books and movies full of fantasy, science fiction and romance kept us amused, especially in some of the stranger places. For years, I tried to separate my darker side with my humorous and romantic one. I published short fiction, but things really started happening when I gave in and mixed it up. When not lost in fiction, I love making wine, collecting music, gaming and spending time with my husband and two children.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2018This is my favourite book in the series so far and Dom and Abe are a perfect pair.
Dominic who's been fighting for a shot with Abe for months and Abe who's finally taking the step and explore his attraction for men for the first time.
But just when they think they have everything they've dreamt of Doms past in form of his psychotic brother shows up.
I really enjoyed the plot and I was turning the pages to see what was going to happen. Both the relationship and the suspense had me the whole book through.
And I just have to add that I hope Trent gets his own man and book!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2018Dom has been attracted to his coworkers father, Abe, for a while. Abe is is equally attracted to Dom though not at all comfortable being with a man his sons age. Just as they are starting to get close, Dom’s hidden past returns. Putting Abe in the crosshairs of a truly crazy man, Dom’s twin brother.
Dom comes face to face with evil and vows to do what ever it takes to protect the man he is falling in love with.
This is another good addition to the Ward Security series. These men are just as engaging as the rest of the guys. I like how the authors create the backstory for their characters throughout the books. There is a familiarity to them at the start of each book. I enjoyed it.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2024So since the night Dom took Shane's father home in Shane's book, I was like they're going to be a couple! I was completely surprised by the past Dom had and didn't suspect anything until this book. I think Abe and Dom are good for each other, Dom gets Abe to laugh a lot while Abe semi mellows Dom (especially with his stripping). It was a little heartbreaking with Dom's brother and what Dom must be going through with that. It'd of been nice to see a little bit of that before the book ended and how Abe had been helping him but that's the only semi-issue I had with the book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2019I really enjoyed this one! Abe and Dom were incredibly likeable and you immediately wanted to cheer for them. With Elliott and Drake's usual snarky humour, suspense, steamy scenes, and a romance to make you swoon, this is another great addition to this series. Definitely recommended!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2018Dom has been pursuing Shane’s dad Abe since book one and a few months later, Abe finally starts to bend. At the same time, Dom’s past starts interfering and endangering them both. It’s the same sort of formula for suspense used in the other books, where Rowe and the security team close ranks to protect their own. In this case Dom was kind of dumb, since he didn’t go to anyone for help, even when he knew Abe was in danger and from whom and how many. That didn’t make a lot of sense.
It actually becomes kind of fun with the eventual plot device used, then of course the Shattered crew smooths over the legal grey areas for a smooth ending. It’s hot too with Abe the silver fox, bisexual virgin, shocking his son Shane. I’m guessing the next book may include Trent, the probably closeted movie star and maybe Garrett? Even though they’re a bit predictable the author duo always manages to toss in extra interesting details for the characters. This one improved even my vocabulary! I’lol keep reading them for dependably engaging stories and the ever-expanding yet familiar ensemble cast.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2018This was a 5 star, just like all the others. The characters are off the chart great, and some of the most interesting I've read about. This was an awesome addition. My only gripe is that it seemed kind of short, or fast... or cut off? I wanted to know a little more about James, but all in all, it was good.
I would really like to see something more about Daniel. He seems very interesting. So, hopefully, he will be another addition to the ever-growing family.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2018***3.5 Stars***
“This matters, Abe. Really matters. You like the way it feels to kiss me? Touch me?”
“I like it a lot more than I expected, and I expected to love it.”
This series has been a bit of a crapshoot for me. The balance between pacing, suspense, action, chemistry, cheese-factor, steam, and plot has been off and inconsistent in this spinoff series.
I'm finding it difficult to truly sink my teeth into the stories and characters, and more times than not, I'm left feeling like a reader who's finished a story but will probably forget about it in a day or two. Each time I start a book, I have to remind myself who all these people are.
But let me talk about this book. I really liked Abe and Dominic together. Abe was nearing 50 and finding himself finally exploring his bisexuality. And Dom, the 32 yr old goofy playboy, has set his sights on Abe. Age is just a number, and 18 years is not going to stand in Dom's way. Not with the way he's feeling about the older man.
Everything about this story was set in the fast lane....with the exception of the fact that Abe and Dom have been chatting and getting to know each other for about 8 months. We don't get that. We're just told about it. We're thrown into the middle of their story where Dom's getting antsy and Abe's getting ready to finally cross the line. I wanted more of the 8 months.
The suspense was OTT (as was expected), the romance was cheesy (as was expected), the sex was hot (as was expected)...but I'm just not connecting to anyone like I did in the Unbreakable Bonds series.
Will I keep reading this series and more from these authors? Hell yes.
Even though I'm not 100% on board with these latest books, I still reach for them...I'm still curious, I still have a hard time putting them down, and I will read ANY book set in the same world as the Unbreakable Bonds guys.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great story in the Ward Security Series
I love this series, and everything Jocelynn and Rinda write together. What’s not to love? These books have a bit of everything, sweet, not romance, drama, suspense, action and, in this book a little mystery. Dom and Abe did not disappoint, another great book in a wonderful series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dom & Abe in the crosshairs of a sociopathic weirdo
Ever since Dominic had been tasked to keep Shane's father safe during the case of „Dantes Unglued“, he never ever expected to fall so inevitably hard for the much older man. But Abe only seems to be interested in his friendship. It is hard, but Dominic settles for just being his friend, instead of not being able to see Abe at all. All of a sudden cryptic messages appeare all over the city neither the police nor Quinn&Gidget seem to be able to decipher easily. Dom knows this code and that his carefully hidden past has caught up with him. He fears for his new chosen family at Ward Security and for Abe, heading out to face the disaster alone before all hell really breaks loose. But his friends and Abe won't allow that.
From the previous Ward Security Books I already liked Dominic, who always seemed the funny, carefree guy bringing relief even to the darkest situation. But just like Royce, Dominic was hiding his criminal past ,living under a new identity (wonder if this is a secret requirement of Rowe when he hires bodyguards for his firm). Jocelynn Drake and Rinda Elliott have written another awesome installment and amazed me, how obviously seamlessly they keep enlarging their Unbreakable Bond Universe. I really love how well they create background informations (just a hint or two, more in a new book later) making each of their characters a mulitlayered, vivid person and giving us readers a feeling of familiarity with each book we start to read of their series. Although this story feels kind of short (or is it just too fast because of all the action scenes?) I was captured how Abe and Dom would overcome their larger age gap and not screw up their already good friendship of laughter and sweet moments. The new characters Daniel,Cole and movie star Trent picked my interest. So I am impatiently wondering, who of them will the the next addition to the ever growing „Drake&Elliott Cincinnati world“.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read
I really liked both Abe and Dominic. They are very different but they bring out something good from each other.
The whole plot was very interesting as well and the last twenty percent were gripping and somehow fun too.

4.0 out of 5 stars So many troupes to love
I not only love an age gap but a bisexual's first time with a man esp at an older age is so hot.
Plus the side danger/action keeps it from being just a romance. My only complaint is every single time the guys are in trouble they don't go to Rowe and ask for help. Seems like a gimmie at this point in the series.
