The Coming of Saska (Feline Frolics Book 7) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 140 ratings

A must read for animal enthusiasts! For cat lovers old and new – particularly those whose lives are ruled by feline fancy!

More hilarious antics from Doreen’s animal family…

Doreen Tovey enchants us with stories of life with her husband Charles in a West Country village, where they are driven to distraction by Siamese cats, Annabel the donkey, nesting swallows, bucking horses, and the villagers who still regard them as inept townsfolk, even after 18 years.

In an effort to get away from it all, they take a trip to Canada to see the bears and wolves — much to the alarm of Father Adams and Miss Wellington. If they can’t handle Siamese cats, how will they handle a grizzly?

As for the cats, Seeley and Shebalu start acting strangely when they develop a taste for dog food. But it is time for another solemn little Seal Point to come into their lives — Saska, who takes some settling in…

THE COMING OF SASKA continues Doreen Tovey’s memoirs about living with Siamese cats – and other animals: set in the British countryside, it is told with wit, mischief, and above all humour.

‘To be sure, Miss Tovey speaks a cat person cult language but she writes amusingly of other country matters - local gossip and characters, a quite frenzied misadventure in bee keeping, and of course Annabel. For those pet owners to whom catering to animal whims is part of the fun’ -
Kirkus Review

‘If you love cats, you'll enjoy every chapter of each book in this witty, warm-hearted collection’ -
Your Cat Magazine

‘No-one writes about cats with more wit, humour and affection than Doreen Tovey. Every word is a delight!’ - The People's Friend

‘Doreen has
a wonderful, warm, and witty way with words that bring the personality of each cat to life and perfectly describe her love of them.’ - Life With Siamese Cats

‘Every so often, there comes along a book — or if you’re lucky books — which
gladdens the heart, cheers the soul… Just such books are those written by Doreen Tovey’ – Cat World

Doreen Tovey's books have been a favourite with me for nearly forty years. She writes about her darling cats and donkey with such humour, I often laugh out loud. I never get sick of reading these books and have downloaded them to my Kindle so that I can keep on re-reading them and so has my daughter. We've all lost beloved pets and Doreen takes us through the highs and lows with such charm and wit that it is impossible to be sad for too long. Feel good books for all ages. (Especially if your neighbours think you are a bit barmy)

Great laughs, some tears. Always interesting.

Wish the author was still alive, would love to be able to write her.

Tovey's books are some of the funniest that I have read, and sometimes some of the saddest. Loved her first books about Solomon and Sheba. SHe is truly missed!

5.0 out of 5 stars what a charming book, an absolute MUST for all cat lovers!

Doreen Tovey's cat books are addictive: once you have started reading them, you won't be able to stop. They are all about the life of Doreen and her husband and their animals (mainly cats) in a rural village in Somerset. They are charming, funny, entertaining, and a nice description of rural English village life between the 1950s and 1980s, with certain villagers appearing in all of the books. A highly recommendable read! Being a cat lover and owner of 7 cats myself, I can relate to many of the cat stories she describes. The books are a MUST for all Cat Lovers!
