Saving Dancer: Savage Brothers MC Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 2,133 ratings

I’ve been in love with Jacob Blake since he the day he picked me up in his strong arms, holding me close.

I was five years old.

I spent my life chasing after him—
Trying to make him see I'm more than just his sister’s little friend.

I never dreamed getting his attention would also destroy him.

One night...

A night that held so much promise, broke the man I love into so many pieces, I don’t know if he can be mended back together.
Or if he will even let me try.

Good Outline
Saving Dancer had a good outline but at same time it was a little like a couple other MC series I've read!!! There was a lot I liked about the characters and the way they worked their issues out together! All in all it was an enjoyable book!

    Overall Rating: 5 Rockin’ '''''
Anger, pain, sadness and despair are prevalent in Jordan Marie's newest release, Saving Dancer. This is the second book in the Savage MC series and the continuation of the storyline from book one. This continuance adds a new flavor to the intriguing chemistry among the tight knit brothers from Kentucky and their motorcycle club lifestyle.

In her debut novel, Breaking Dragon the author introduced us to Nicole and Dragon with glimpses of Carrie and Dancer. Dancer was the brother that was incarcerated in a federal prison for protecting Carrie from a brutal attack outside a club. We anticipated from the beginning that their journey would be a battle to find each other as well as a thoroughly intriguing and entertaining read. This is Jacob and Carrie's story about finding their way to each other and the love they both needed. Warning: this is a heart wrenching and soul searching relationship. The author approaches a very sensitive subject in this book. The setting that she uses to deliver her message is brilliant.

After the betrayal of Irish, Dragon and his brothers are struggling to make things right and strengthen trust among the brothers once again. Dancer doesn't want anything to do with them now. He wants to remain in his own world suffering alone, without anyone finding out the horrors that were inflicted on him. His brothers, however, are not going to allow that to happen. They are determined to pull Dancer back into the club and help him heal.

Jacob a.k.a. Dancer is finally free from his torturous two year trip to hell. He is suffering from the horrific things that were done to him in prison. Carrie is brought under the protection of the Savage MC when an unknown threat tries to end her life and does take the life of her parents. Jacob blames Carrie for his imprisonment and all the wrongs that he was dealt while in prison. This leads to him lashing out at her every opportunity he gets. In his heart he knows she is his only salvation but the anger, shame and fear drives him to keep her as far away from him and his life as possible. Carrie loves Jacob with every fiber of her being and has from the moment as a child she laid eyes on him. She has waited for him to claim her and has never stopped loving him.

Our heroine is strong, yet pliable, while young in years, she has an old heart and a mature mind. When Carrie makes up her mind, there is no turning back or swaying her. While our hero has suffered two tortuous years, his background suggests that he has always been filled with anger and had a short fuse when confronted. He is a sexy, mouthwatering, strong alpha male with protective tendencies.

Without a doubt, Jordan Marie's creativity brought Jacob and Carrie's story to life. The depth of their love and search for happiness is threaded throughout the entire book. While at the same time the characters continue to grow and develop. More players are introduced as the plot evolves. I can't wait to see where this series will go in her next book.

Second in a series for mature adults (18+ years old) as it contains scenes stereotypical for the MC genre with examples listed below. Can be read as a stand-alone, but I HIGHLY recommend it be read in series order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers. There are multiple reoccurring characters, consecutive timelines, overarching themes and background that cannot be adequately explained.

⛔️ Contains references to, or detailed / graphic scenes with subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some, including: adult language; derogatory terms; mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, suicide, panic attacks; steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance, submission, restraints, dubious consent, spanking for pleasure, multiple partners; violence such as kidnapping, abduction, murder, torture, rape, attempted rape, blackmail, threats, fighting, jealousy, subterfuge, betrayal, drug use, drug distribution, gun running, domestic violence, etc.

** This story has a hero that was forcibly subdued and sexually assaulted. It also has themes of mental health issues up to and including suicide. If you have difficulty with these types of subject matter this is not the story or series for you **

There are a some grammatical issues, but nothing that was difficult to interpret. There are several incorrect word choices, as well as missing and extra inserted words. I am mentioning these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.

The storyline in this story is dark and focus on the shame and feelings of insecurity a strong man has when he has been attacked and raped. I really love how Jordan Marie didn’t try to gloss over, ignore it and try to make it where it was easily forgotten, as that is not what would happen irl. She shows how it impacts him and the people who love him, especially the ones that are aware. It made me have all the feels … what more can you ask from a story such as this?!

Here is a high-level overview of how the story begins:

Dancer was convicted and sentenced to prison for killing a man that attacked, beat and tried to rape a female. The man was a cop and the correctional officers made his life a living h3!!. The club has been doing everything they can to get him released but it takes time. About 2 years later it finally happens and he gets out and he has spent the past week buried in a bottle and women.

When he is on his way to the bathroom, Bull (one of his MC brothers) busts in and he is not alone … Carrie follows him in and Dancer sees red. What is she doing there? It was defending her that he got sent up?! He goes to remove her and Bull steps in … Dancer would rather anyone else in the world be there but her to see him like this …. Why is she with his brothers? Why are they protecting her?

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerfully written
Reviewed in Australia on March 19, 2017
Powerfully written. I was taken into the story and felt the characters emotions and pain. This felt less about being a part of an MC and more apart the horrendous acts that Dancer and Carrie experienced and the journey it takes to heal, forgive and continue on. The perspective of a crime being committed against the male gender for some reason feels more taboo, more gritty, more confronting. Is it because it is talked about less? Is it because they are perceived as the stronger sex? The act is horrific regardless of your gender, age, race etc. Jordan wrote about it with depth. The toll it took on the psyche was raw and real. For an author to describe something so well that there is no way they could possibly truly know how it feels is a major credit to them.

Story that holds the reader's attention from beginning to end. Follow the journey of Dancer and Carrie, an intense and exciting story. He is an ogre, I have to admit that, but he's suffering and finding that there's no redemption. I enjoyed and recommend the whole series!

Wow - does Jordan Marie ever know how to write books that just suck you in!!

Jacob Blake (Dancer) has just gotten out of jail after 2 years for killing a man and while he was in jail he endured horrific things. Now that he is out is trying to find his way but it is not going well, at all. He is drinking and sleeping with any woman he can in hopes of escaping his pain.

Carolina Grace (Carrie/Red) was the woman Dancer killed for and she has loved him since she was 5 years old. Now she is with the Savage MC under protection as someone is after her. Will she finally be able to show Dancer she is no longer a child or will he push her away again?

This book is emotional and gut-wrenching with the relationship of Carrie and Dancer and those around them. I am loving this series and can't wait for the next one!!

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing addictive gripping read
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 19, 2015
I don't even know where to start i just lovedddd this book, i could not put it down and my god my emotions were all over the place. An amazing gripping story that was both heartbreaking and dealt with some dark issues throughout, but the way Jordan writes this is in a way that as a reader you understand and you go on their journey too. At times i have to admit i hated Dancer for how he was with Carrie but the more you read the more you realize how damaged he really is and by the end i was completely entrapped by him and how he got through everything he was put through just shows how strong he is and how strong Carrie and Dancer are as a couple. So worth the read could not put it down and i cant wait for the next book, well done Jordan for tackling some difficult and traumatic issues and making this beautiful heartbreaking addictive book.

This book was very hard to read. The hero’s struggle is strong and for me is a first time reading about it.

The torment he was living under was perfectly described and it explained his actions.
Still, he was terrible to the heroine. But their love is definitely one for books.
