The Men Beyond the Stones: Stonehenge: Klickitat's WWI Memorial Kindle Edition

Standing as a silent sentry above the Columbia River, Maryhill's Stonehenge serves as a memorial for the 14 brave young men from Klickitat County, who served and died during World War I. More than just names and basic information, this book details their service and sacrifice. Included is a short biography of the visionary behind Stonehenge, Samuel Hill. This book spotlights the 15 individuals who lived in a small rural county in Southern Washington. They all enlisted or otherwise were part of WWI and none of them came home for a variety of reasons. This book looks at the individual stories and gives more than just the plaque that is at the completed version of "Stonehenge".

The author looked like they took the time to get as much primary documentation that they could from various sources, which they provided in a bibliography to show they really took the time to write this book instead of just throwing it together.

Be careful not to get on this authors bad side. She's incredibly rude and unprofessional. Would not recommend this author. I'm sure you can find similar readings where ther author isn't so nasty.

This book chronicles the mysterious creator of Washington's Stonehenge and the 14 service men it honors. Drawing heavily from military records and other historical materials, the author outlines facts that make up each service member's story. Important military history is offered at the beginning to help establish context for each man's service experiences and, ultimately, their death. A true labor of love, this book helps to honor both local history and the service men that came from Klickitat County.

These stories were entertaining , interesting, easy to read, enjoyable .. a little piece of history that not many people knew before this book laid them out .

You defiantly will enjoy this book if you’re interested in Pacific Northwest history , Columbia River Gorge history

I liked it because it’s stories you have never heard before ! Not like the typical historical accounts we normally learn & share with each other
