Scorch: Lunar Wolves Novella Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 261 ratings

Magnus’s human family would despise him if they found out how deep he’s fallen into the supernatural world. The witching world had been nothing but cruel to his late mother and now his human family wants nothing to do with it. But with an ailing father and siblings who need his help, Magnus doesn’t have a choice. He can’t make enough outside the magic world to support them but he refuses to watch them suffer over something as stupid as money. He’s lucky to live safe and isolated in Crescent City among other witches and werewolves where he has a steady stream of both income and men to call when he needs to let off steam. Magnus never lets himself become overly attached to any one partner, his life is stressful enough without the addition of emotions.

Calore Fier is a billionaire werewolf with his sights set on Magnus. The sexy witch calls to him in a way no one ever has, except, Magnus is resistant to Calore’s charms. He claims he can’t feel the draw that Calore can’t ignore but he didn’t build his empire by giving up. Calore will find out why Magnus is holding back and he’ll tear down those walls until nothing stands between him and his mate.

Every second near Calore is a mistake. The older wolf is pure desire and Magnus’s body aches whenever he is around, but they could never become more. Calore has no idea who Magnus really is or the baggage he carries, and as a solar werewolf, Calore’s life is about elegance and luxury. He wouldn’t understand Magnus’s generic brand upbringing, his need to hide his magic, nor his penny pinching ways. Besides, if his family ever found out he’d embraced the witching world, they’d hate him more than Magnus would hate himself.

Scorch is a standalone novella in the gay, paranormal romance series, Lunar Wolves. It features a sarcastic, proud witch and an arrogant wolf who won't stop until he gets what he wants.

Calore is so bossy. But I still love him. Magnus is just too sweet. Torn between two worlds and feeling like he fits in neither. This was a sweet love story with no enemies, just emotions!

This was just a short and fast, little novella, that was still so good.Calore and Magnus are perfect for each other.

Magnus is living a double life. He learned at age twelve that he inherited his mother's witch powers but he kept it a secret. His sisters didn't have any powers and his father hates all thing supernatural after the death of his wife. To his human family he is a hard worker, loving family member and a fun loving uncle. His father worked too hard when he was younger and is now disabled. He has an autistic little sister. He and his older sister try to help their father the best they can. So Magnus lies about his new job. He becomes a powerful alchemist in Crescent City who also works on the Solar gate. An older and powerful Solar wolf named Calore has his eye on Magnus and wants to mate him but Magnus has no time for mates even if Calore features in all his dreams. Magnus feels he has nothing in common with a wealthy and powerful older wolf.

Pleasing in the way the author presents and explores relationships. But perhaps I am not the best audience for this tale, as I have no affinity for either ostentation or public display. Money spent does not impress me.

I voluntarily read this book and this is my honest review.

Magnus needs money to help out his family so against their wishes he starts helping the paranormal community. He has a revolving door of men that help satisfy his needs whenever he wants. When he meets the werewolf Calore he claims he doesn't feel the pull that Calore does. Is this true or is Magnus just not wanting to admit he feels it too? Calore's family isn't too keen on mixing with witches either, so they both have issues with family and hiding parts of themselves and what they're doing together.

This was a shorter, fast paced book set in the Lunar Wolves world. Both MCs grow and change in this book to become better versions of themselves. Magnus and Calore have great chemistry together and the sexy times where definitely hot. The world and character building were good even though it was a shorter book. There was a little mystery solved about the solar wolves and bejeweling that I really liked. Nice to see some of the characters from the previous books. I really like Kiki's writing and she never seems to disappoint with a good story.

This is a story about Magnus, who is a witch and an alchemist and Calore, who is a solar wolf shifter. Magnus is enjoying sowing his wild oats and he is not in any hurry to settle down. When Calore sets his eyes on Magnus, he will do whatever it takes to make him his mate. Magnus is reluctant, but Calore is determined.

I liked this book, but there was a lot going on that leaves the reader confused unless they have been following the series. Some of the customs got lost in translation. Solar wolves are from another planet and seem to possess a lot of wealth. Calore seems heavy handed when it comes to convincing Magnus that he wants him as his mate, but I never read where he rationally communicated that they could be or were fated mates, and I think that is why Magnus gave him such a hard time. Also, Calore did not do much to learn about Magnus, so it seemed like their connection was very shallow. I did not like that Calore did not take no for an answer and it felt like it was going into dub con, which I do not like. I did like their chemistry after Magnus decides that he does want Calore after all, but there was a fine line of it being coerced consent. The bedroom scenes were well-written and steamy, so that was a big plus. And I loved the scene at the restaurant Flux; that was a pretty cool experience.

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

...Magnus and Calore are super 🔥🔥
At first Solar wolf Calore Fier came across as an alpha enamored with himself; with only feelings for the profitable running of his poker house in Crescent City. BUT he does recognize Magnus as his heart's mate. He just has to convince Magnus of his true feelings. Magnus Hansen is in such a predicament. Magnus is Crescent City's 2nd alchemist, second only to Gloria Spire, and sole support of his ailing father and sister and her two children. His duties weigh heavy on his shoulders and that makes him skeptical of Calore and Calore's interest. When these two get together a storm of physical and sexual emotions just about burn the other up; such is their intense heat. This story, though set in the Lunar Wolves series, was a nice change of pace for this reader. Family ties were expressed, cute children were included, and parents were involved in this theme. I received an ARC of this work to post my voluntary and unbiased review.

Magnus works hard as an alchemical witch but his family must never know as the paranormal ruined his family. Now his father is ill and his sister needs help with her kids. Magnus makes decent money in Crescent City and can help them enough to keep them going. He likes where he lives. There is no shortage of available men until he meets Calore Fier. Calore feels pulled to Magnus as he never has to anyone else. Magnus keeps trying to keep him casual but Calore is determined.

Magnus knew his magical grandparents had caused trouble for his parents and he felt they would disown him if they found out he worked in magic. Then an emergency happened and all bets were off. Calore was slowly getting under Magnus’s skin and it was a beautiful thing. This book had some really fun parts to read especially when you meet the nieces and nephews. Magnus deserves some happiness and if he lets Calore, he will provide it. Does he? You will need to read this delightful story to find out.

Great characters again. I’m still smiling at how these two finally came together. Highly engaging storytelling. This works as a stand-alone story, but for maximum appreciation of the characters and this paranormal world start at the beginning.

Kiki Burrelli has dreamed up a marvelous world about a planet with werewolves and witches and this novella is an offshoot tale about a witch called Magnus and Calore, the billionaire werewolf who wants him. The push and pull between these two men makes for a great read. Magnus is a very relatable character who has always had to look after himself and work hard and has a chip on his shoulder because of what his life has been like. Though this is billed as a novella Ms. Burrelli has packed a lot in as usual for her and this book is as long as some recent books that I have read that were called novels. Also as usual I enjoyed it so much that I wish it was even longer.m
